I use this build:
The sigils should actually be double might sigils, since they dont have a CD and make for great might stacking; however, you can use lightning strike and fire blast sigils if you prefer direct damage.
Of course because the build is non-weapon specific, you can use a scepter instead of a dagger(or even a staff, though I’d switch out the aura stuff). I prefer the dagger for the extra aura (which is also a sweet stun), the immobilize from earth, and I prefer the fire damage skills of dagger over the delayed AOE of scepter.
Elementalists definitely have some of the most difficult burst rotations in the game. Much more difficult than pressing 2(heartseeker) repeatedly. The same rotations also do less damage then simply spamming the same skill over and over (heartseeker; thief), or frenzy + hundred blades (warrior).
Elementalist burst requires that the opponent has a specific condition on them (fire grab), or in order to land the burst for elementalist, you generally need the opponent to be an idiot and stand still (Staff AOE’s, Scepter Fire spec). Compared to other classes, the classes burst requires a lot more timing and skill to pull off, for a lot less profit.
You gain defensive abilities with focus, and lose a heal and some control(air/earth knockdowns)/gap closing(air)/burst(fire grab). I personally would rather have the control, burst, and the extra heal.
I run with:
20 Fire
Spellslinger (3 stacks of might on cantrip usage)
Internal Fire – 10% fire dmg
20 Air
Quick Glyphs (Decreases my heal CD by 5 seconds)
Air Training – 10% air dmg
20 Water
Soothing Disruption (Regen and Vigor on cantrip usage)
Cantrip Mastery (20% cantrip cd)
10 Arcana
Elemental Attunement – For the Boons
I enjoy the build as both S/D and D/D, I have yet to try it as D/F. I use Lightning Flash, Armor of Earth, and Mist Form as my utilities. I have a sigil of rage and sigil of strength, for quickness and stacks of might. I’ve had upwards of 20 stacks of might in pvp running at one time, and the cantrips + elemental attunement provide near constant regen and vigor as well.
