Everywhere I look rangers are getting knocked on for being/wanting to play an archer.
Is it really that bad for anything outside of pve content? Wvw, soloing, map completion I feel are where it shines.. is there any way to polish this kitten to make it viable?
Guess ill stick around wvw, found a cool build using shortbow and venom aura. Support obv but I like the idea of EVERYONE all of a sudden getting crazy amounts of control.
I tried in the warrior forum and got a fairly detailed post but the writer made it seem extremely subpar, I would love to make an archer that isnt reliant on a pet(*so not a ranger) are there any builds that focus on the shortbow for wvw that function well in a group environment?
Been trying to figure out what class to play, I dont like the ranger tie up to the pet so I figured I would try out a warrior or shortbow thief.. For wvw zergs and the like are there any longbow based builds for the warrior?
a scrollcase with a pages unfurled for example can be made to look like an axe. a tube scroll (for example) could be used a a one handed sword like a rolled up newspaper
if you use a little imagination it isnt so far fetched. Im just saying Im not a super huge fan of being a spellcaster lugging around a huge axe.
thats not to say a scroll or a book replacement skin for other weapon types wouldnt work
It wouldn’t work because your weapon skin allows your opponents to know what weapon you are using.
if you use an axe that looks like a book, when foci (or any one handed weapon, as you suggest) can also look like a book, then that hides important tactical information from your opponents, which is an unfair advantage.
ie: Your axe looks like an axe so that other players know you’re using axe skills.
I see from a pvp standpoint honestly, however, candy cane skin comes to mind; could be a staff, could be a sword, oh no its actually a hammer!
there are lots of weapon skins that look like something else (severed hand holding a dagger looks like a focus to me honestly)

Not sure what else to call it but i dont know about you guys but as a spellcaster I would KILL for a book skin to cover my mainhand weapon. Necromancer axe for example, not many spellcaster-esque axes out there.. What do you folks think?
So Ive been playing around with the game and after losing interest a while back I decided to try a warrior out for giggles and I kinda fell in love with the ability to stack might and just go to town haha..
Could I get a critique on this build im working on? Also, yes I know there are alot of greatsword users out there but.. I like the idea of throwing certain consumables on it and stacking the vulnerability as high as it’ll go!
Only way I can figure out how to describe the problems I’ve been getting since I started playing this game, I love the game to death but this problem makes it nigh unplayable at times..
The game will run swimminigly at times(I play in windowed mode with a habit of alt tabbing, which is what I originally thought caused this problem) but every so often it seems the game slows down and quickly speeds up to catch up .. Creating a strange pulsing FPS change which is -extremely- annoying.
Anyone know a fix?

P.s. even popping it to the lowest settings doesn’t make it any better, which makes me think its not a graphics card issue,
p.p.s. Any input would be helpful in this, I really wanna enjoy this game but the stutters make it kinda hard to enjoy..
