Cost of waypoints [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I really don’t have too much of a problem earning money or anything of that degree, but I do agree that Waypoints should be free (Or at least for the map you’re in).

Towns are nice because they’re free, but what irritates me is that as you get world completion it becomes a scenario of “Yay! I just got unlocked another waypoint that… I have to pay to use…? What fun!”.

Could you imagine if in the first Guild Wars if you had to pay to fast travel? It would be totally unacceptable.

Not only that, but if you die you get a double slap in the face because you’re faced with an armor repair cost and the cost of using a waypoint. (I’m not against the repair cost or anything like that as I feel deaths should be punished to a degree.)

Bottom line, if you’ve been to that location and unlocked it then it should be free to go there, or at least in the same map, but traveling to different maps instantly I wouldn’t mind there being a fee. Kinda like how it is in towns.

Duel-1v1

In my opinion it just wouldn’t work (At least for right now) because the PvP in terms of 1v1 combat isn’t balanced. That’s why they have team-based PvP because it’s a team-based game.

The best proof of the unbalanced combat between classes has been stated many times in the PvP forums where people complain quite frequently, and I don’t know about you guys, but when two classes can deal 14,000-25,500+ damage with a single attack… I don’t consider that balanced and in 1v1 and it would be insane.

Adding it for a ‘Just for fun’ type scenario is fine, but you know that there will be people being competitive about it and not realizing how broken 1v1 is.

In the future, once they have time to level out the classes on the same playing field, then I think 1v1 would be a good idea and I would support it, but not at the moment. The game just isn’t ready for it.

AC Path 1 Bug - No completition after getting howling

I’ve had this bug occur before when my party was doing path 1 also and I’m 90% sure I know what causes it to not give a reward.

When my party was fighting him and he was about to die I used the elite skill ‘Tome of Courage’ and casted Pacifism on the final boss, which was still on him when the final hit was given and after that, we also recieved no reward.

I also find it interesting that you also happen to have that elite skill on your skill bar in the screenshot, so I’m assuming you did the same?

If so, Arenanet’s Bug Team should look into it.

A Few Suggestions for the Event and Upcoming Events

in Suggestions

I have been participating in the Halloween Event since it went live and there’s a few problems that I have with it and I would like to address them and possible improvements.

Before reading on, some people may find this thread to be nitpicking but I’m primarily posting it as more of a feedback based on my opinion.

1. Costume Brawl and Skills

I have a major issue with the way the Costume Brawl works in this game. I bought the Mad King costume from the Gem Shop and preceeded to test out the skills in the bank when I noticed that no matter what skill I used, it always put me into the costume brawl mode, which is very frustrating considering I just want to preview the skills and having to constantly press the 5 skill key to leave after I use the skills is terrible.

Also, I’m unsure if it’s a bug or not, but I have been attacked without even having a costume on. Is that how it’s supposed to work?

Fix

There’s two ways to fix this issue and those are:

1. Enable a Costume Brawl on/off button that is above the skill bar so you can use the 5 skill without having to constantly leave the costume brawl mode.

2. Add an NPC to teleport you to a Costume Brawl Arena like the first game had. It worked really nice, so why fix what isn’t broken? (Plus it also gets annoying running through town and there’s just total chaos going on, and like I said before, I’ve been attacked without even having a costume on and minding my own business)

2. Costume Toys Need Previews

I was already planning on purchasing a costume before the event, but the issue I ran into was that I like to know what all I’m purchasing and what the complete package will offer considering I’m paying with real money. That being said, I noticed they came with toys to play around with in towns like the Chef Costume and the Pirate Costume but also like those, you cannot preview what the skills you get with the package does.

I’m happy I bought the costume, but it litterally look me a few minutes to decide because I was weighing out the pro’s and the con’s, but when I don’t know what the toys skills will yield, it was also frustrating.

Fix

Allow a preview skill bar option in the Gem Shop for costumes that come with toys. Not necessarily to show the skill animation or anything because that would take a lot of time, but if you just show the skill bar so you can hover over each skill and get descriptions would be very nice.

3. Festival Hats NPC Needed

With costumes being bought and event hats/costumes being received it forces us players into either buying more bank space or buying more inventory slots, which I think is a little unfair.

The first game had a Festival Hats NPC that could see an event item and costumes and replicate it on any character on the account for a small fee of 10 gold, so why can’t it work here?

Guild Emblem on Backpacks Removed via Costume Brawl Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

Just as the title says, there is a bug with the Guild Backpack’s emblem that disappears when you equip one of the new costumes.

I purchased the Mad King costume from the Gem Shop and after using a skill and entering the costume brawl mode, then upon leaving the costume brawl mode and removing the costume it renders the emblem invisible.

I’ve tried a few things to try and get it to reappear and the only ways I have found was to go to a different zone or relog, which fixes the issue… Until, of course, you enter costume brawl mode again.

I’ve also tested to see if it was client sided or server sided because I play this game with my wife and when the emblem disappeared she couldn’t see it on my backpack also.

Anyone else having or have seen this issue?

Edit: There’s also another bug that can occur when you interact with the Mad King’s Banquet for a food fight while someone is in the costume brawl mode and you are not. This causes you to be attacked even if you aren’t wearing a costume and forces you to rezone or relog to fix it.

This one is very annoying also.

Feedback: Guardian Greatsword change, 10/7

It’s terrible what they have done to us with this patch.

They effectively made Guardians who use greatswords and rely on symbols less viable. Why would you choose a greatsword over a hammer now?

Before this game was released, Arenanet said that we could make our characters our own and contour to our playstyle, and it has proved to be somewhat true, but what happens if I want to play a greatsword/symbol Guardian?

The added 10 seconds on the symbol really hurts as it affects our damage output (Which for us is average damage compared to some of the other classes, but some will say our damage is terrible and it’s understandable.), healing (Also supporting party heals) and our condition spread.

Not saying the Guardian is dead, but I agree with OP, this was a massive blow.
