Endless Fury Combat Tonic Bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Sky.8035

I don’t think this has been officially reported yet, but the Endless Fury Combat Tonic is currently bugged and gives the wrong look/form.

It’s supposed to give you the form of Skorvald the Shattered and instead gives you the form of a Norn that looks like Balthazar if he were a Norn and wasn’t a god. It’s obvious that there are visual assets missing from the transformation.

Just wanted to leave this here as it wasn’t listed in the Known Issue Tracker.

02/22/17 Guardian Changes

in Guardian

Sky.8035

It’s purely a change for SPvP which I can completely understand (people are bad at dodging traps). There was no real reason for the nerf elsewhere and I can’t understand why it wasn’t split.

Okay… So they nerfed the F1 because people are bad and can’t comprehend what stability is for or how the dodge mechanic works.

This is concerning for me. This tells me that they will purposely nerf a skill if enough people can’t figure out the basic mechanics of this game and complain enough about it.

I really wish that the Devs would give a better clarification as to why they change/nerf certain things, because the little snip that we get in the patch notes is very vague.

I’ve been searching for answers about this and I still cannot fathom what prompted them to do this because there are clear counters for being tethered, just people choose not to use them and cry about it.

In the end, I guess we’ll just have to deal with it because no matter how much we tell the Devs that this was a bad move, they won’t listen and don’t care.

[Suggestions] Please Bring Back these Gem Stores Items

This may be completely random, but I’d really like to see the Permanent Hidden Minstrel Finisher added back to the Gem Store.

Even if it were only for like 7 days. I missed it the last time and it appears that you guys only bring it back about once a year.

Been waiting a long time for it to come back.

The increased cast time on Spear of Justice is complete bull.

I use that to pull those chumps in WvW who disengage fights when they know they can’t win. So they nerf our F1, but still keep the ability on classes to jump 1,900+ range in a matter of seconds? Totally balanced right?

If they want to give all of these classes mobility, then they need counters for it.

It also screws with the incorporation of the F1 into rotations that people have been accustomed to for over a year.

Also, can’t forget about breakbars. Some higher level enemies only offer a 1-3 second opportunity to damage their breakbars and that’s not factoring in any form of lag. Some DH builds rely on the F1 to deal that breakbar damage.

This nerf makes absolutely no sense to me.

This is the saddest thing I have seen in a long time…

That’s also coming from someone who already has a set of full ascended gear.

Also didn’t Anet say some time ago that they were all about people being able to jump right into what they enjoy doing and less grindy? Because this is telling me otherwise, especially if people like Fractals.

The old castime of spear of justice would be fine if pull part was canceled when going out of line of sight from guardian also spear of justice is seriously bugged skill if you are on reciting end I have died atlast 2 times in pvp from falling damage on flat ground beacose it tossed me up in air…

I actually agree with that.

I think if you get behind a wall or an object, it should also break the chain because it looks ridiculous when it clips through walls/pillars.

The bug however… I honestly have never saw happen in the game. I’ve seen people use it strategically to pull enemies into a pit or large fall to their death, but never just on flat ground.

Your opinion about today´s update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sky.8035

I think the cast time increase for Spear of Justice is complete bull.

It was the only way to break enemy break bars for some builds and in high level play, you have what? Like 2-3½ seconds to use a skill sometimes during an opening and that’s factoring in no lag.

Also the fact that certain classes can just disengage fights and jump 1,900+ range in about 1 second. But that’s totally okay right? Not like us Dragonhunters used Spear of Justice as a counter to that or anything…

Sky.8035

Long story short, I’m cool with everything aside from the cast time change for Spear of Justice.

I think it’s a bull kitten excuse to change it, when they fail to consider that some classes have a getaway free card and run away from fights/engagements.

No, kitten that. I had this skill to outplay people that are just like “Lol, can’t beat this guy, time to run away!”.

You wanna have mobility like that? Sure, I approve. But there’s gotta be counters for it.

The other problem is that certain builds require this specific skill in a 1-3 second window to cast without factoring in any lag or latency to break enemy/boss breakbars. The current cast time in some scenarios required perfection to chain. Not acceptable.

Nerf the damage, nerf the condi all you want. Don’t mess with the cast time and screw with outplay potential and rotations.

That’s all I ask.

Thanks for reading this if some dev happens to actually read the forums instead of Reddit.

Dragonhunter Feedback Thread.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

So because I got off work late tonight, I wasn’t able to give feedback on the thread that was offered in the sticky.

I’m already irritated by the patch, but it makes me more irritated that they don’t consider other peoples work schedules for the feedback timer on the threads that are promoted to the top, but that is another thread itself.

Here I’m going to talk about the Guardian/Dragonhunter update and what I consider an idiotic change and what I actually agree with. I’m going to let this go with no holds barred because they’ve had over a year to change certain things and they’ve decided not to until now.

Im going to tackle each point and give me honest opinion.

• Virtue of Resolve: This skill has been unsplit from PvP and will now use a 30-second cooldown.

I think this is solid. It allows Guardians to play more of a support role, which I’ve always thought they were destined for in the beginning. Well done on this.

• Virtue of Courage: This skill has been unsplit from PvP and will now use a 45-second baseline cooldown.

It’s an okay change. I think it was fine at 40 personally, but it is a good ‘best of both worlds’ improvement. I’m not mad at it in any way. Very fair.

• Signet of Courage: This skill has been unsplit from PvP and will now use a 120-second cooldown.

This is a good change. Before this, I would never consider running this skill outside of the Stronghold game mode. Now that it’s actually not as punishing to use aside from the cast time. I may consider it for dungeon runs or perhaps testing in Bastion Raid runs.

• Spear of Justice: The casting time of this skill has been increased from 0.25 seconds to slightly under 0.75 seconds.

Serious problem. This was not needed and makes me question why this was even in these patch notes.

This one I’m VERY disappointed in and I will give my honest opinion on.

First off, the cast time has been the same for over a year. You changing it is going to affect MANY rotations/combos.

Secondly, this makes using this skill much more unfun than before. This removes the ‘fun’ factor for the game for this skill. It doesn’t seem like much on paper, but trust me. It’s bad and much slower. Do not do this. Especially after a years time.

Thirdly, there are MANY bosses in this game ranging from high level Fractals, to raids, to some that appear to be bosses not working as intended in some cases. But literally leaves very minimal time to damage their breakbars to make them vulnerable. For some Guardians/Dragonhunters, they rely on this skill as THEIR ONLY SOURCE TO DEAL BREAKBAR DAMAGE. Coupled with that comes that the factor that not everyone plays at 60+ FPS. This is a major problem for people who rely on this to throw and pull quickly for some small breakbar damage.

I implore you guys to PLEASE and I stress this. PLEASE reconsider this change!

I would honestly prefer a small damage reduction in some way or cut some numbers off the burn damage instead of changing the cast time. This really REALLY hurts.

On the flipside, the only way I can see this being a 100% viable and unchangeable thing is if people would pop F1 twice for a cheap pull. Sure, it’s cheap, but my counter argument for that is that Thiefs exist. They can disappear within’ a seconds notice and have far superior mobility than DHs. So the F1 is all we had to stand a strategic chance outside of just dropping traps and sitting on them. Which doesn’t help us in the fleeing enemy scenario.

This is not right and I humbly request that this be looked over again.

Decrease damage, do whatever you will. But some other classes interrupts on F1-F5 skills are much more of an issue than this. I assure you.

• Deflecting Shot: The missile hitbox has been improved.

I’m down for this. Nice improvement.

• Whirling Wrath: Reduced recharge from 10 seconds to 8 seconds. Increased damage by 20%. Projectile damage is now listed separately from melee damage.

Not gonna complain. Guards don’t use GS as much as they used to now-a-days so this may bring them back?

• Purification: The trap heal on this skill has been reduced by approximately 16% in PvP only.

Nice addition. I don’t use this skill personally, but I may now. We’ll see.

• Litany of Wrath: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 30 seconds to 25 seconds.

Meh. It’s alright. No complaints really.

• “Receive the Light!”: The recharge of this skill has been reduced from 40 seconds to 30 seconds.

Good QoL improvement to this skill. I feel like it will benefit PvE and WvW more so than it will PvP. But that’s just me.

• “Feel My Wrath!”: The quickness duration granted by this skill has been increased from 5 seconds to 8 seconds in PvP only.

Very nice addition to a Support and/or team-based Guardian’s weaponry when it comes down to BOTH PvE and PvP. I really appreciate this one.

World Linking 6/24/2016

in WvW

Sky.8035

I happened to be in Darkhaven and we got paired up with Crystal Desert.

It’s actually a nice thing aside from the fact that it’s a 2v7 for us this week. Nothing could possibly go wrong with pairing 4 worlds vs 3 worlds vs 2 worlds right?

As I’m typing this, the top team this week has double our score. Not necessarily because of the numbers game (At least I don’t think) but because of the random and varied tactics that the multiple worlds use that’s different for one-another.

The smaller worlds are taking the smaller objectives (Supply Camps/Towers) while the bigger world they got (Crystal Desert) is focusing Towers/Keeps.

It’s literally impossible for 2 big worlds to go against this tactic because it would require like 3-4 commander tags on the map at once doing different things and fanning out to different areas of the map.

They got the number game right it seems, but they didn’t factor in the tactics each world would have and how they would affect the result of pairing worlds.

Sorry, but there are a lot more things involved with making a balanced and fair fight outside of just world numbers.

Just my 2¢.

Pay 2 just stop already...

in PvP

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

Drop your Elite Spec and play PvP without them then, I dare you.

If you’re not running the Elite Spec, you’re not relevant and it’s a handicap. Not to mention it’s one of the most anti-fun experiences you can do in this game.

The definition of pay-to-win is that if you pay for something related to a game it gets you either a competitive or strategic advantage.

If you pay for HoT, you get access to an elite specialization, skills and weapons that people who didn’t pay for it don’t get. That in-and-of itself is a competitive and strategic advantage. So yes, it is considered pay to win and you will lose more games to people who do own HoT because the elite specs are so good. That’s why people run them 100% of the time.

§ky

This game is already dead

in PvP

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

I think one thing that’s really hurting PvP was the addition of the Elite Specs.

Hear me out on this. With the addition of the Elite Specs in PvP, it’s now become mandatory that you run them to be viable. This is great for Anet because people will throw down money to be relevant but where this hurts the game specifically is with the builds. Because one of your specialization slots is locked into the Elite Spec at all times, that only leaves you with two slots to actually make unique builds.

You see everyone running the same stuff all the time because that’s the way it is, while the first game for example, added more variety. You had 8 slots to put whatever skills you wanted, 8 attribute slots to spec and a second job that added other skills from your base class. You rarely ran into people who were running the exact same specs and skills that you were. It kept it unique and fresh while this games system has everyone running the same generic builds that the next guys running.

The addition of a locked in spot for Elite Specs without it being an optional thing is what killed variety. They’re just too good to replace with anything else and if you do, you get wrecked for the majority of classes.

Build Saving and Loading

in PvP

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

Does it bother anyone else that we don’t have the ability to save/load builds in this game? I’m primarily talking about PvP because of all the build testing and swapping going on all the time.

It’s always bugged me that this game didn’t have that feature, but what’s really funny is that even a new player to this game thinks it should be there too.

I recently recruited two friends to buy this game so we could all play together. One of them shortly after starting this game broke his laptop so we’re waiting for him to return while the other plays with me on a daily basis and we’ve really been into PvPing. He loves to swap his builds and try out different things after a handful of matches as he’s still trying to iron out everything and figure out his playstyle.

Yesterday he makes the comment to me “Man, they really should have a way to save and load these builds. That’s the only thing I hate about the PvP in this game because it’s so time consuming and tedious having to remake some of these. I just want to jump into the games quickly and play without having to sit here and figure this out.”. I simply replied “Yeah I hear ya… The first game actually had that option.”.

Then it hit me…

The first game was released back in 2005 and had the option to save/load builds. It’s 2016 and over 3 years after the release of Guild Wars 2 and we still don’t have it.

This game is supposed to be the future right? So why does it lack something so basic that the first game had?

Has Arenanet mentioned anything about it or that they’re working on it?

If so, I can’t find anything on it, and they said they were trying to work on communication. I’ve saw the average request for it on Reddit every now and then, but no developer responses. I’ve also used the search option on this forum and it came back with no results.

I’m aware that the Devs can’t see everything or answer all questions but maybe, just maybe… they will see this thread. Hopefully they can give us hope for something!

In my honest opinion, it’s one feature that this game needs SEVERELY. Especially with the promotion of ESL Pro Leagues and the Ranked System.

What’s everyone elses thoughts on this topic? Would you like a way to save builds for easy access/swapping? Do you think it’s bad that it hasn’t been implemented since release or seriously talked about?

I thought I was just crazy, but I’m glad I found this post!

Yesterday was the first Sunday that I’ve jumped into PvP because usually I’m doing other things, either in real life or PvE related. Sure enough though… It was a mess.

Not every game was filled with the terrible players, but I’d say it was a mixed bag. There was about four games in a row I remember distinctly last night that I got these guys and one of the games pushed me mentally.

To give an example of the nonsense people were pulling was 3 people on our team decided to cap home in a game of Niflhel and Foefire. Sure enough, enemy split up, overpowered me and one other mid, and proceeded to dominate the game. We couldn’t push out because they were dying quickly left and right, standing in DH traps, ect. Upon further inspection, the guys on my team seemed to be running PvE related builds.

Probably won’t ever PvP on a Sunday again. I can’t take it.

Question Regarding Holiday Items Absence

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

I was thinking the other day back to the days of playing through the first Guild Wars and how I always looked forward to the holiday events like Halloween and Winterday throughout the year to see what cool new holiday hat they would throw at us.

This game however, it seems they don’t do that anymore and I’m curious to know why?

I suppose this year we got the addition of the Nightfury and Winter’s Presence shoulder skins… But it’s just not the same. The main issue is that they’re not readily available for everyone to get without a ridiculous grind or money to blow and I don’t know about you guys, but I personally don’t enjoy grinding.

In the first game it was a simple ‘You participate in the event, you get the new item this year’. The way it is now is set up where some people will have to wait an unknown amount of time to get it or just forget about it. (in the case of the requirement to get the Festive Imbiber achievement and how the market for the drinks may get out of hand after the Wintersday Event ends)

The items that have been seemingly rereleased to celebrate the seasons have been added to the Gem Store for profits such as the Festive Hat (Santa Hat) and the Sinister Dragon Mask.

I know that Arenanet is a company and needs to make money, but this just hits me as greedy. They never put holiday items behind a pay wall in the first game, so why have they chosen to do so with this one?

I know originally, they started releasing holiday hats in the beginning with the Celebration Hat, Witch’s? Hat, Wizards Hat and Mask of the Night… But why did they stop?

How does everyone else who played the first game feel about how the Holiday Events are handled in this game and if they chose to bring back the tradition of giving everyone a different holiday headgear skin for holidays every year like the first game?

TL;DR Holiday Hats like the first game. Where are they? Why did they change the tradition? Do you want them back? Do the ones in the Gem Store strike you as a greedy tactic compared to them being free in the first game?

That doesn’t seem right…

Being able to gift gliders, but then flip-flopping or changing the rules and essentially saying “No, you can’t gift just this one.” is ridiculous. Especially because it’s obvious that the glider skin is in reference to Wintersday, which is in reference to Christmas and is the holiday/season of giving.

Gem shop feedback

Sky.8035

The bag slot upgrade got you too?

Yeah, I bought four expansions about three years ago thinking it was account-wide and I’m sure you know all-to-well what my reaction to it was and it’s a shame. I assumed it was like the first game, when you purchased the Xunlai Storage Expansions. That, you know, it would be for all characters…

The permanent gathering tools is another annoyance for me too. There’s so many times I need them when I’m out and about on my lower level characters, but due to me having like 10 different characters that I swap to frequently… It makes transferring it all the time a serious problem.

The only other things I have a problem with really are that I wish that helmetless outfits gave you the option to show your actual headgear. If they don’t have a headgear of their own, then why not have that option? I can’t wear my sunglasses with my Noble Count outfit, which really irritates me because it has no headgear of it’s own and it doesn’t specify that due to not having headgear that you can’t show any at all before purchase.

The last thing might be a stretch and I may receive flak for it, but I wish they would offer at least a partial discount to the people who choose to rebuy the outfits that they rereleased from the first game. I already bought almost all the outfits from the first game and seeing them rerelease the Lich and Wedding outfits, which I already paid for, is upsetting. They’re literally a copy and paste from the first game with very minor graphical improvements.

Linking your GW1 account allows for HoM rewards, but it should also keep track of your previous real world purchases on your GW1 account because I feel like I’m being ripped off if I choose to buy them again for this game.

Just my 2¢.

Favorite/least favorite maps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

My favorite map is probably either Bloodtide Coast or Kessex Hills.

Both are very chill maps. Neither will stump you mentally over “How do I get to that Vista??” or anything like that and neither have extremely difficult enemies to defeat (Although the Destroyer Cave in Kessex can be depending on your class and setup). Bloodtide is fun with pirates, varying weather and some varied underwater exploration while Kessex has that home-ish feel and Wizard’s Castle/Tower paying homage to the first game. Both the perfect balance of fun and exploration.

My least favorite map is the Orr Maps.

The scenery is terrible, the placement of waypoints/enemies/events/ect is terrible and it’s a hassle to get to where you need to go because you know every time you visit that whatever waypoint you go to is going to be contested for no reason.

I do however respect the art that is there and the mentality behind it, with them having underwater elements on the land as it has surfaced and the decay… I know it’s supposed to be unpleasant to be there, but I think they took it overboard to the extent that it makes the game in those sections anti-fun and I’ve thought the same thing since release.

For me there was no thoughts of “Wow, I want to see more of these maps and explore!” and instead I had thoughts of “Man this sucks… I can’t wait to be done with all this so I can get out of here!”.

An ugly world completion badge...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

I think that the PvP Rank Badge is a healthy addition to the game, however in the future I can see it being a promoter for toxicity in the game with player behavior; such as players looking down on others or refusing to cooperate with players with lower ranks than them. How soon into the future may this happen? Too soon to tell.

I will say that the Badges design is bland, boring and dull looking. It’s simply a colored square with a number.

The things I would change or improve on them would be to firstly, do not make it present next to the characters name all the time. Have it be a hover-over feature like the World Completion Badge. The second thing I would change is the design. Instead of it being a colored number block, I would change it to look like the gem of the division that’s the same size as the block currently. Sort-of like a recolored GEM icon that represents GEMs in the store. Having them vary in shapes is optional.

Just food for thought if any Arenanet Devs happen to read this.

Returning Player Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Ouch… That’s definitely not the best things to hear.

I just contacted Arenanet’s Support Team about another issue that I had regarding a title that I completed all the necessary requirements for but wasn’t issued it because I wasn’t playing at the time.

Needlessly to say, they pretty much told me too bad and that it won’t be credited to my account even though I met the requirements to have it. Which is pretty sad…

Is Arenanet’s plan to try and stop people from returning to the game after a prolonged period of time? If so, I can see why some of the people I used to play with quit and my other friends that stopped playing around the same time I did are reluctant to return.

Not to mention the second reply to this thread “Run like hell dude, you going to regret coming back to this mess.” is definitely not a good sign lol…

Returning Player Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

Hey guys, I just returned to the game from a LONG break. I started playing during beta and have been playing since day 1. I played for a good while consistently but decided to take a break from this game and I decided to return with the idea that a lot of things have changed for the better and with the temptation to purchase Heart of Thorns for more content.

That being said, since I have returned a lot of things have changed and I have a few questions that I haven’t been able to figure out on my own and would appreciate any answers regarding them.

  • 1. I purchased 2 Primeval Armor Skin Sets back in like 2013 for two of my characters. Back then the Wardrobe System didn’t exist and they were single use so I did not use them at the time because I was in the process of leveling one of the characters I was going to use it on to level 80 and I didn’t want to waste Transmutation Stones on the way to 80. I’ve opened one set since I’ve been back and with the new Wardrobe system, it makes the purchase of the second set (Which is still freshly unopened) useless.

So is there a way to refund the one unopened set that I have for the Gem cost or am I screwed with the addition of the Wardrobe System on the second set?

  • 2. Upon transferring my old town clothes into the new format of outfits and armor skins, I noticed that I received about three stacks of the same outfit after it was credited to my account.

Why did it give me duplicates and stacks of them if it’s already permanently unlocked on my account? This seemed rather odd to me.

  • 3. Back when I played Karma was a fairly useless currency and I was curious if they have turned it into anything more important to have since I’ve been away and is there anything important/valuable it’s used for in Heart of Thorns or does Karma still hold almost no value?

I’ve looked at a few Karma Merchants, but nothing is really jumping out at me and showing me that anything has changed with it’s value over the years. I even still see the same merchants selling Bell Pepper and Ginger for Karma lol.

  • 4. I read there was a whole PvP revamp and with the change they removed Glory and things that were affiliated with it. I happen to have some unspent Glory, Glory Boosters and PvP Achievement Chests that can’t be opened anymore and only give me the option to destroy. Is there anything I can do with these?

I’m having the same issue with crashes.

A fairly consistent pattern I’ve noticed is that it sometimes happens about a second into the loading screen of entering a new map and usually at least once during a World Boss Event. (Which is the worst because it can affect you getting the chest at the end.)

Other than that, it seems to be random, like I’ll be walking through Divinity’s Reach or through a map and the game just crashes for no reason.

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

My vote is Commando.

I know it was only an April Fools joke in the past, but their whole concept was awesome!

It threw a futuristic touch on the MMO and could easily fit into the lore because they’re time travelers from the future.

With awesome new weapons (Grenades, Flash Bangs, Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles) and elite skills (Predator Missile, Choppers) there is a lot to like. I could imagine them be really fun to play for people helping out their team with suppressing fire from a nearby mountain with a sniper rifle similar to how the Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support from the first game worked.

I know it’ll never happen, but I can dream right? xD

Also new race, I’m betting on the Tengu being playable.

Arenanet as Champions?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

One of my friends in-game was fighting a champion in the Cursed Shore testing out a new torment build with the new runes recently added to the game and apparently got a very weird whisper during the fight.

He said it was something along the lines of “Wow man, you’re merking me!”. Which was supposedly sent from a member of either the Arenanet Staff or testers.

After the fight he was sent a random mail that contained 10g as a reward for coming up with such a good build.

I’m a bit skeptical on the whole thing, but he swears up and down now that Arenanet can take control of Champions for data mining and figuring out if people are glitching or if certain classes/builds are overpowered in order to take notes for changes/nerfs/ect.

It all makes sense from a developers standpoint, you need information on what people are using constantly to keep things balanced and it’s not too easy to farm, but my question is to anyone who is familiar or knows anything about this topic. Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m very interested in this, and now questioning myself if any champions I’ve ever fought has been a member of Arenanet in control of a champion.

Can this really happen or am I getting my leg pulled?

Gold sinks help balance out the economy and it’s needed in games and MMO’s.

But there is too many of these in Guild Wars 2.

Throwing in our face an event destined to try’n’failure AND requiring us to pay everything each time is just cruel and unneeded. At least, make the waypoint free.

Armor repair costs are on average 1s-1.7s each. That’s not breaking the bank considering every 1-2 enemies you kill give 1-2s in the money and items they drop. I fail to see how this is not fair.

Making money isn’t hard, but having no punishment upon death/teleporting leaves everyone at the advantage of a continuous flow of money, which would cause items to rise in price and economic downfall.

What I’m primarily talking about is convenience of not having to die and make a 2-3 minute run back up to where you left off just to die again in 30 seconds.

Keep the armor broken for repair cost for the gold sink, but make it to where solo players can continue on the achievement(s) or enemy they’re after without having to rely on others to help them.

(Sadly enough, this is almost a ploy to have people buy resurrection orbs from the Gem Shop so they can revive themselves if they’re in short supply of money)

I think they would be a great addition.

I miss them from the first game, however, I’m not sure if I’m okay with them covering up the back item I already have as I’m rather fond of it.

If they could find a way to make capes work without covering the back items, then I’m game!

Where I do agree with you is that there should be a way to resurrect yourself without having to go to the fights with a friend watching your back. (Especially for people playing solo)

The best thing would have been if you died in the ring, you’re spawned immediately outside like it is now and revive you instantly, but still have to suffer the armor repair costs as if you had really died.

It would keep many people happy, but still have a gold sink in place.

I’ll also add this image to the thread for reference.

This is a screenshot taken in-game while I’m fighting Liadri.

What’s happening in the picture is me trying to lure her clones into a portal that’s in the corner of the arena and I can’t see what’s going on due to the camera.

Is this considered a reasonable challenge or am I just not good/skilled enough to do this?

I honestly don’t think players should be punished for content like this nor have a reward that requires you to go through this frustration.

Is this the most controversial update ever?

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

In my experience, just about every update/event has certain aspects that are just as controversial as the next.

For example:

Halloween – The Mad King Jumping Puzzle. This one speaks for itself. A lot of people couldn’t do it and it was being abused by Charr and Norn characters who were purposely trying to make people fail.

Wintersday – Allowing us to craft minipets with 250 sprockets, but leaving us with a random 200 at the end that were completely useless.

Cutthroat Politics – Candidate Trials tier 4 was near impossible and wasn’t a reliable source for achievement completion due to a lack of difficulty scaling and a bug that would make it impossible to complete.

There’s always something that’s controversial, but is this the most? Probably not, but I’de say it’s on par with some of the higher ones.

You’re probably right. I’ll also add that I did take notice that the Zephyr ship was designed with Canthan Architecture.

The whole name “Winds of Change” could also imply that the wind is what was needed for the ships to take flight, which could very well have saved the survivors of Cantha when it was flooded.

Cantha may not exist anymore, but some of it’s people are still alive.

So Being 1-Shot is meant to be a Challenge?

in Queen's Jubilee

Sky.8035

I agree. The 1-hit death is a very terrible design.

I get that they want to make it hard, and that’s fine, but their idea of challenging is being killed in 1-hit when it shouldn’t be.

For example, take the game Ninja Gaiden. Anyone can attest to that game being extremely challenging and difficult but at the same time, their developer Team Ninja has a good understanding of what is challenging in a reasonable environment and don’t rely on the 1-hit and dead functionality. You have a life bar, can take multiple hits and it’s still very hard.

It’s bad enough when only 5 of the 60 game testers for this content were actually able to complete it and that’s their job, to play this game almost nonstop.

There’s a point where they just have to realize where they’re going may be too difficult with not only the combat mechanics and 1-hits, but the camera also. It seems like they don’t take the time to think about “Is this fun or frustrating?” “Do you think it may be too difficult with what they’re given?” “Should we try to make an enemy that actually isn’t a 1-hit boss this time?” “Is this actually do-able by all classes and players of all levels?”.

I don’t see what the big deal is… On a daily basis I just take a trip to Queensdale to get my Daily Achievements and I can get them all in about 15 or so minutes because there’s events everywhere and everything is easy to kill.

Plus in a lot of scenarios it helps out the new and lower level players, especially when they’re getting slapped around from the Champion Pirate Captain, Queen Wasp and Champion Cave Troll.

Other areas from Guild Wars 1? Open eventually?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sky.8035

Absolutely Sky. Thanks for giving me your thoughts. So aside from your speculation, what are your hopes? Or are you indifferent?

I’m hoping in the next expansion that it tackles the Northern Shiverpeaks and ends up having all the races, the trinity and your character taking on Jormag. But due to some hints that I’ve heard having to do with one of the Arah explorable paths, it seems that Kralkatorrik will be next in line, which would open up the Crystal Desert.

If Kralk is next, then there’s a chance we can see the Tengu becoming a playable race considering they guard the gate to the Crystal Desert and the Tengu City gate in Lions Arch.

I’m hoping that no matter what it is a good expansion, it’s really fun, engaging, adds more depth, and the story is well written and played out, because the story thus far I strongly believe is garbage.

But I don’t really play the game for the “Dynamic Story Telling”. I play for the core gameplay.

Hope that answered your question and I appreciate your support. =)

Honestly, nobody would really know besides Arenanet themselves, which I highly doubt they will comment on as it would ruin the surprises that are in store, but I can give you my opinion.

I believe that the areas labelled will open in the future and most likely the bigger ones in expansions.

It has been speculated that for each new expansion we will take on a new Elder Dragon at the end. This makes sense, so that we will slowly progress through Tyria. It’s also a strong possibility that there will be new playable races as the game progresses.

That’s just my opinion and speculation once again, so take it with a grain of salt until more information is revealed from Arenanet.

I’m less concerned about the glitch and more concerned about being able to actually go there in the game eventually.

Arenanet kinda took a step backwards with not including these things as they were in the first game, but I’m not doubting that they have plans to add these features in an update in the near future.

I support 100%, but I’m sure this post would fit better in the Suggestions Forum. I suppose it will get more views here until it’s possibly moved, so the more support the better.

There’s a wall that is destroyed (I know, there’s a few of them in there, but it’s pretty obvious which one.) that you can use certain jump/teleport skills to get through.

I have heard of a few classes being able to do it, but I had success using a Thief.

He’s famous for other characters such as voicing Duke Nukem, Dudebro, a few other characters in Guild Wars 2 and many more.

Endless Halloween Tonic Change

Sky.8035

Today I happened to get an Endless Halloween Tonic and I have been enjoying it very much, but after about 15 minutes I started to notice that something was missing… Or should I say a couple of things.

The tonic transforms you into the following:

* Glow in the Dark Skeleton (aka Spooky Skeleton)

* King Sized Candy Corn

* Plastic Spider

* Mummy

By this list I’m sure you already know what’s missing.

Where’s the Ghost and Zombie!?

The Ghost is one of the cooler skins and the Zombie can be downright hilarious for certain situation, so I’m wondering why they weren’t added because it’s a real shame that people work so hard and spend so much money to have them not be there.

In the first game, some of the Everlasting Tonics suffered from a similar lack of inclusion of certain skins, such as the Everlasting Margonite and Destroyer Tonics to name a couple, which I purchased and immediately knew what was missing.

I love this tonic to death and don’t get me wrong, I’m not ranting or anything, just merely suggesting/requesting that you please add them to the roster.

Thank you for your time and attention to this thread.

Halloween Miniatures Not Counting Towards Achievement

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Sky.8035

Sky.8035

Hello, my wife and I recently purchased the Halloween Spooky Miniature pack from the Gem Shop and it was brought to my attention today that they do not count towards the ‘Miniature Collector’ title.

My wife has always loved miniatures, even since the first game, so it’s only natural to gradually work towards the title, and I would have never knew about this bug if she hadn’t been upset and told me earlier tonight. Since she has told me I’ve also noticed that the Miniature Rytlock, Orange Tabby Cat, Rockfur Racoon, Orrian Baby Chicken and the Servator Golem don’t count as well.

I also confirmed it on my account also with my miniature collection saying 3/20, when I have at least 12 or so.

I assume this is a bug considering we have the miniatures and they aren’t counting for some reason?

In my view, Clock Tower is not fun [Merged]

I personally don’t have an issue with the Clock Tower, but I have friends that do and I support why they have the problems because it makes sense.

One of my close friends in-game is disabled. He plays games with only one hand because he was born with only one and has to use a special type of controller that works kinda like a keyboard and mouse, but allows him to play games like this.

The Clock Tower achievement is obviously out of his reach due to his disability which on one side, I believe it’s really unfair but on the other, I’m glad they made it so that it’s not required for the Emissary title.

Take it as you will, but I’m neither for it nor against it and I can see why others would have problems.

I’m not 100% sure, but knowing Arenanet (Been playing their games for many years) I doubt they would put an achievement in the game that affects a certain title that you have to attend a very strict event at a very strict time.

The ‘Attend the Party’ achievement I’m sure will take place on the 31st because the description says something like “I hear the jokes are to die for!” which is hinting at the final act because in the first game during the final act The Mad King would appear and tell jokes, which if you participated you received a holiday hat.

Oh and another thing…
Don’t forget that in other MMORPGs, you not only pay to use taxi-like transports, but you also waste time staring at a screen for several minutes (can be VERY long for long travels) without being able to play. At least in GW2 you don’t have that.

I have never played a game with that type of feature. Are those by any chance those free download games that you see ads for all the time?

Does the name “World of Warcraft” ring a bell? Yeah, the most successful MMORPG of all times for now.
Other games which have such transports are DAoC (must have been the first AAA one I think), LOTRO, SW:TOR, all games in which you jump into a taxi and then have to watch it move/ride/fly to destination.

So no cheap free download games, but major AAA titles.

I have played WoW, but for a very brief time so I never experienced the taxi system and the other games I have never played, but wow man! That sounds terrible! xD

I don’t know about you, but if I were a game designer, I would rethink that decision because it must throw off the pacing of the game.

It actually reminds me of the taxi feature in the game Grand Theft Auto IV. It had a feature where you could enter a taxi to get to your destination, but it offered an option to skip having to watch it, which I really liked.

From what I’ve gathered, there will be no achievement involved with the event today at noon.

If you’re referring to the party achievement, then I’m 90% certain that will take place on the 31st due to it’s description.

With that being said, I also wouldn’t recommend going afk during the event because nobody knows what is going to happen and you get kicked from the game after about 15 minutes of inactivity.

It might be just me, but they seem very cheaply made anyway and to have a taxi system where you have to wait between travels sounds like a very bad gameplay decision.

It would be like comparing Triful (Guild Wars 2) to Jello (Free download ad games).
