I would love Hylek or Skritt, but I’ve been told that according to GW lore, Skritt and Hylek are too ‘primitive’ and are ‘lesser races’ not capable of higher cognitive thought, and thus not candidates for player characters.

Kodan, on the other hand, would make sense and are also armored bears which makes them automatically 100% kitten.

Not really. There’s plenty of them in Prophecy and actually in GW2. In Lion’s Arch there are some, they guard a door also and don’t let anyone pass.

Tengu are an obvious choice, they look amazing and there could be an entire cloud city expansion, for a class I would like a monk, not a copy of the gw1 monk a brand new one. Could use fist weapons, staves etc. Some healing abilities etc like a mix between a guardian and a thief.

For RACE: They may not add any. There’s no guarantee that they will. You played humans and humans ONLY in GW1. If they do, I’d hope for something like the Kodan. I’m not crazy about the Tengu as a race at all. Their visual design is kinda “Meh,” and they just don’t strike me as something a lot of people will want to play once the novelty passes.

For a profession: I hope they don’t add any professions. There’s already 8 of these, and that’s far more than enough.

The Tengu, I think, would go as far as the Charr do. I would personally love to play a Tengu. However, the Kodan would be amazing. The polar bear is my favorite animal, and I would absolute die to see these available to play.

As for professions, I don’t think adding any would really be an issue. The original game had 10 available professions. When it comes to GW2, I actually find myself wishing I had more options. At the very least, I would really like to see Ritualists make a return.

My spouse often claims I am of lesser cognitive thought… can I apply to play a Skritt?

Seriously though, would love to play a Skritt. The GW2 version of “Leeroy!” could be “Shiny!” – then dash off to get killed.

Skritt are also a hive mind race. Apply that to players and we could have an interesting racial buff in play. The more Skritt around, the better the buff. No other Skritt around, no buff.
Could be as simple as a Chest finding aura on the map. The more Skritt around, the larger the radius. They love shinnies after all.

As for profession/class – I would like to see the ritualist or variation on monk return.

Rit with the spirit spamming and spike damage was always fun.

Monk would need a re-make though. Perhaps go back to it’s martial arts theme (dances and aesthetic design). Add in some unique weapons to it, like a Bo or such. Game play could reflect Thief like mobility with a dash of magic. Could be interesting and fun.

Some sort of Elite WvW class. Meant for players who already have 1 or more lvl 80’s. But basically, they have more group-oriented or supplemation abilities. I actually thought the Commander book would allow this sort of stuff, but not so much.

Specials could be siege equipment bonuses or AoE boons. Etc… Like I said, I really thought the commander book would utilize such things.

Anyway, as for a solo class… It is hard to come up with one… when you think about it, GW2 has already covered most of the bases. If you were to come up with a new class, it would likely just be a hybrid of existing classes. So, one example would be like a ninja who is a Thief + Engineer. Another would be a Warlock which is Warrior + Elementalist. Etc…

80 Elementalist – Sanctum of Rall
Various other classes for figuring out how to kill em (thief, warrior, mesmer, etc…)
War is much more fun when you’re winning! – General Martok

Yeah, as far as the classes go I think they have most of the bases covered. I will say one thing though, any class they do add should be unique and not just a mashup of two existing classes. Something with unique play mechanics that adds depth not just volume.

I did wish for a monk variation without direct healing when they had announced “no healer” but wouldn’t it still be associated with balthazar/dwayna to justify other races as monks(?)
Now I would love to see the ritualist with restoration as a minor mechanic(much like guardian’s) if they prioritize a canthan expansion, or the elonian paragon.

Prelate – Think a caster version of the Guardian.

My favorite class ever (after GW1 necro) was the ‘sacrier’ from Dofus. The primary stat for the class was vitality and its stats improved in combat based on the amount of damage it took. It’s an incredibly fun class to play because it you want just enough damage to get strong, but too much damage and you don’t make it through the fight.

While I love the idea of brining monks back into GW2 as a playable profession (Monks continue exist as NPCs so they are still around in regard to lore) they would have to be redesigned. Since Guardian ended up with a good number of Monk skills -and- since the Monk was a dedicated healer it would be a complete retooling of the profession.

I’d envision it to be a light armored caster that could transitioning between which god to offer prayers to sort of like a Ele switches attunements. Should not be overpowered in the area of support but similar to Guardian or Necro, unlike Guardian which is built for melee + support, Monk would be built for heavy range damage, AoE + support. The gods wouldn’t have to be all human. Pale Tree could be a choice as well… I Asuran monk might not make much sense but for each race you members who go against the norms so I don’t think it would be that silly to have a Asuran monk offering prayers to Balthazar

All classes are done to death because RPG games have covered them all. We only rarely see new ones but they are sort of variants of more well known classes. Despite this, I quite like these sort of threads so here are 2 suggestions.

- Pit Fighter. A savage, berserk type capable of duel wielding a mixture of weapons for lethal savagery or using a 2 hander putting more force into each blow than actually needed. Lot’s of brute force abilities and very little finesse. Also uses a form of combat drugs to boost his/her performance in battle. They might act like temporary stat boosters or HP regen but definetly damage boosting.

- Harlequin. Light weight, agile as a dancer, precision of a fencer who uses a mix of offensive and defensive abilities as they cut through their opponents with dual swords. Lot’s of dodging about cutting at their opponent weakening it down until finally delivering the death blow. Not very resistant to damage but highly skilled at avoiding it in the first place. Lot’s of special equipment (abilities) that keep their weapons sleek and sharp. Can combine their swords to form one good sword that is extra defensive.

Race: There are enough Humanoid races, how about a Krait, or Squidlike race with an asian cultural influence.

An Underwater Race Starting area would be awesome. With a storyline that is 55% underwater, using the Endless Ocean area on the SW corner of the worldmap and the Islands nearby as the main zones.

This would also give Anet a good excuse to flesh out the Underwater Weapons/Skills/Utilities. MAYBE, add some new underwater only utilities and elites.

Class: Something along the lines of a Ritualist, but with more emphasis on the Ritual aspect of things.. Like make all his/her skills/ animations move like a ritual dance or something, that can seamlessly combine with eachother.

OR Voodoo Priest. Main point would be to Support Boon from a distance, OR Condition in melee. Skills that focus on helping your friends or hinder your enemies. more ability to interrupt skills,

I’d love to see playable Tengu and Ritualist profession in the Cantha expansion. Since they come from all over the world, including Cantha, they must have knowledge about all professions, and also the Ritualist. This way they would teach and train the other 5 playable races how to be Ritualists!

I get the feeling they have something like this planned for the Largos. It seems odd that there are only about 5 of them in the entire game, yet they’re all fairly prominent and have such detailed models, animations, dialogue, and abilities for being so comparatively minor in the broad scope.

After checking out your link I must say the chrono is just too weird.

A Summoner/Ranger hybrid would work great though.
Lots of nice elementals to bind instead of the usual pets, and it could still be a med armor user. Kinda like a druid.

The more I read about the Tengu, the more I hope they are next.
Also would maybe kitten off the Chinese bot farmers to no end, seeing a new “Japanese” race.

I think there’s room – both in lore and combat role – for the return of the Dervish. While the Dervish was always associated with the human gods, the magics and spirit of the Dervish was mysticism and nature rituals. Appealing to whatever form of divinity their race would seek – be it the human gods, the eternal alchemy, etc. – would make at least as much sense as the ongoing Charr elementalists.

Role-wise, the Dervish were the “pressure” fighters. Applying consistent melee damage to all mobs in range – rather than spiking damage like a thief or warrior. Although the “teardown” mechanic (removing an enchantment from yourself to gain a benefit) has somewhat transitioned to the guardian, I think there’s still room. Guardian is being altruistic – giving up their regen / aegis for others. Dervish was always about stripping an enchantment to dish out more damage. That kind of gameplay would take place on the skill bar – it means bringing in enough enchantments on your weapons and utilities to strip some to deal the damage you need.

As for a profession mechanic, the Dervish has something called a “Flash Enchantment” in GW1, which meant no casting time, no aftercast, but a recharge on all other Flash Enchantments. You could give the Dervish a set of uses (like the Mesmer illusions) or a bar (like Necro or Warrior) where she can click Flash Enchantment to make her next skill – whatever it is – be instant, but double the global cooldown that’s triggered as a result. Adds a strategic element to when to use the ability, etc.

If new weapons are in play, the scythe is a must. But if not, Necro already changes his staff to a scythe, there’s no reason the Dervish couldn’t as well, and it would serve the double purpose of having a class use the staff as a uniquely melee weapon. Dual daggers (used primarily to strip buffs from nearby enemies / the “control” kit), a main hand axe (used primarily to spread conditions from nearby enemies to others), and an off-hand focus (wind spells/speed and boons) and shield (earth spells/personal protection and armor) round out the kit.
