Next gw2 Expansion Class?
Unless I’ve said it here before … (oh kittens! this thread 10 months old) … most definitely this game is missing a ranger …lol. Ranger here is nothing more than a tamer/beast master etc. But really, not so much the need of a ranger, but more arcane archer!
Arcane Archer (or just called archer), a bow specialist, not really relying on any pets. Melee weapon alternatives, but not replacements for bows. If you read the dnd handbook, there is a good deal of flexibility for arcane archers, though more or less it revolves around the bow. But they could resemble the ele in many ways, tuning to like poison or fire etc.

I actually don’t think they necessarily need to add new professions, except maybe another heavy armor one. But what I would like to see more are sub-professions that you could take your existing characters into.
I.E., a thiefy ranger that summons a shadow ninja with an F1 ability that shadow steps and switches places with the summon, gains access to some unique traits/utilities and the ability to use a mainhand dagger + pistols.
I’ve heard rumors that they will implement a new profession temporarily for two weeks? Can anyone clarify?
(we can’t have pure dervishes anymore, seeing as their main concept of faith only refers to the human gods)
There could be converts among the non-human races. There probably would be converts.
Any Charr who converted to the worship of the Human Gods would be cast out of the legions (at best). They would be a complete non-person, not even good enough to be Gladium. This would require a brand new 1-30 story path just for that race/class combo, including a new Mentor character since Rytlock would probably be leading the charge to separate their head from their body.
There will never be PC Dervishes in GW2.
While I don’t support or believe in adding Dervishes to the game, I think it’d be easy enough to just do a class-specific 1-30 story for new professions added to the game. It’d be the easiest to reconcile. Not unlike how they did the Death Knight in WoW.
Please bring back the Dervish.
They were unique for their medium armor and two handed Scythes!
Loved the Elite skills too… Avatar’s ftw
My vote is Commando.
I know it was only an April Fools joke in the past, but their whole concept was awesome!
It threw a futuristic touch on the MMO and could easily fit into the lore because they’re time travelers from the future.
With awesome new weapons (Grenades, Flash Bangs, Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles) and elite skills (Predator Missile, Choppers) there is a lot to like. I could imagine them be really fun to play for people helping out their team with suppressing fire from a nearby mountain with a sniper rifle similar to how the Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support from the first game worked.
I know it’ll never happen, but I can dream right? xD
Also new race, I’m betting on the Tengu being playable.
I would love Hylek or Skritt, but I’ve been told that according to GW lore, Skritt and Hylek are too ‘primitive’ and are ‘lesser races’ not capable of higher cognitive thought, and thus not candidates for player characters.
Kodan, on the other hand, would make sense and are also armored bears which makes them automatically 100% kitten.
Yeah. I hear that too. I want to roll a skritt guard. But I’d go for a largos. Personally, can’t stand the kodan, and only help them cause the hearts make me. I feel about them like some norn says in snowden. Basically a convo tween a couple. One saying she thinks Bear put them in that form to teach them humility. The other saying he doesn’t think they’ve leaned anything at all. They could teach the asura lessons in self important arrogance.
I do not care too much about more classes or maybe even races. But rather a whole new part of the world to explore.
For me the living world is failing big time, but anet seems to be pretty stubbern to admit this. Or they just care about the gemstore sales like other people said.
Weird thing is that with an expansion you will get way more money and also gemstore sales :/
chronomancer.
PLease please please with cream and cherries
I want to be a Timelord so badly
Ideally it should be a cloth class but I could go with heavy- heck I’d run one naked if I have to

Not just class-specific, Class/Race specific. This would only be needed for CHARR Dervishes. And if there were a separate 1-30 story just for Dervishes, CHARR Dervishes would still need their own version of it, because their experience would be so utterly different. That’s way too much work for such a tiny potential section of characters (although I do think the novelty would make it a popular combo, in spite of how out of whack it is with the lore).
no classes… just more weapons…
a warrior with a staff = monk
i dont see why all classes shouldnt be able to use all weapons
Wow! You resurrected a One Year old post from the defeated state with no downed penalty.
How many Revive Orbs did THAT cost you?
I think for races Largos would be very cool. Also because I am of opinion that underwater combat should be enchanced. More underwater content.

Five month old, but if a topic is relevant then why not resurrect it.
You are cursed to posting in old topics and you are cursed for making duplicates, really is a no win situation.
I already posted in this topic before but I will say it again, I want to make an Avicara Brave. I was so disappointed Arena Net chose to invent the emotionally stunted Sylvari rather than use any of the fantastic original GW 1 sentient races.
I think the next class would have to be another champion, since we only have 2 heavies, Guard and Warrior, but 3 adventurers and 3 scholars. So logically to round out the demand and have some balance a new heavy class should be the next move. An agile style fighter with abilities to keep vigor/endurance up (or down for damage traits maybe), or a sort of Spell blade style character. I know ele’s wield little baby daggers and Mesmer’s can use GS. Now this brings up Dervish in people’s minds usually which could be potential but it won’t be a straight rip.
IDK hopefully we get a new class that’s heavy and a new race. TBH Kodan and Tengu are the next step story wise. We took down Zhaitan, now of course we are heading for a new dragon eventually. Norn were kicked out by Jormag, Asura kicked by primord, and so on. Tengu could tangle with the jungle dragon, i mean they have their own civilization gated off LITERALLY connected to LA. And the Kodan were also pushed by Jormag (who also has a lieutenant we fight currently). Now this kinda gets too much into what dragon we get to take on next. Tengu’s voice actor might have to do some more smoking or being an alien. I can’t tell.
Or largos, those things too…
Definitely a 3rd Heavy
A Mordant Crescent Knight (Warrior-Necro (+ Dervish, maybe) or heavy armored Dervish-Necro; the antagonist of the Guardian). /name subject to change
Or a W/Rt Spirit Warrior/Knight. Basically a samurai using the old, GW1 Ritualist weapon spells, summoning spirits (Fear, Anger, Hate, Pain, Anguish, Dissonance, Shelter, Destruction, Preservation, etc. – so not the same as the Guardian’s spirit weapons) and gaining power from the spirit world (Sight Beyond Sight, Binding Chains, Channeled Strike, etc.). It would be for Cantha, of course. /name subject to change
As for races:
Largos, Tengu, Undead (Elonian undead reanimated via King Joko’s power: thus only former humans).
No kodan, please. They are so boring and bland.
A fantasy of sci-fi cyborg implants grafted into the desiccated flesh of Guild Wars’ corpse.

Commando!
Flashbangs, Frag grenades. M4 assault rifle all spell awesome.
Stay frosty people! watch my six!
First new weapons for each class. Then new heavy class.
Bonus free character slots when they release new classes (depending on the amount of classes they add).
Lol wow, who necro’ed this post back from the dead? GG!
Wow I remember when this thread was new. We have a few thread necromaniacs in the forums it seems.
As for next expansion class, def. a 3rd heavy, in whichever form that may take. Some good ideas in here so far, even if they are a year old.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
they said they d want to do a heavy because there is only two heavy proffesions, but i cant really see what a heavy could bring to the table that war or guardian doesnt. I could see martial artist in light and marksman in medium though.

Necro but oh well…
Judging on the concept art for Guild Wars Utopia – it looks like the Chronomancer would probably fit better as a medium armour profession.
Whatever happens it just needs to happen. We are so long overdue for new classes, races, skills, new weapon sets for existing professions, new permanent zones, new traits etc. I want the “expansion” part of what we were told was coming forever ago. IN GW1 terms, we already would have had Prophecies and Factions and were really close to getting Nightfall. I understand that pace was break neck fast and isn’t what I am expecting. But this is a really slow pace in terms of new permanent “expansion” type content that we were told was coming. I love the content being added to the game but it does not feel like an expansion even when you add it all up because so much of it doesn’t stick around and it’s missing the features I posted above.
Metamancer? (an adept of enchanted weapon magic)
Martial artist (god that would be fun)
Summoner? (the remake of ritualist)
BM: I want to present you my lovely jingle bear mia
If pet had voices: Mommy, I did it! :3
Bring back the Ritualist.
Bring back the Ritualist.
I’d vote for forum thread Necromancer as a new class.
Lol necro’d…
I think it’d be dope if we had a class that could, like, channel the power of old legends from the GW universe, maybe through the power of the Mists or something, idk just spitballing here

Yea because brainstorming everything that could possibly be a heavy class makes you a prophet…Like seriously what were you thinking the guy basically wrote down everything the community had guessed so far in his own post and that is something you highlight?
Must be so many prophets around right now who guessed that the new borderland would contain a desert. You know because that is very likely and not cool to have guessed beforehand.
Btw I am also a prophet because I guessed that the new Stronghold map would contain pvp right? Right? No.
