A few things I want to point out.
1) Ritiualist was split between the engineer and the hunter
2) Dervish unfortunately have no place in lore since the gods have left any more so most likely wouldn’t return as Dervish.
3) Monk if it made a return would most likely be a martial artist with a restoration skill on spam

That being said…

Race: Tengu, They can be bright pink blood drinking eagles of freedom, what more could you ask for.

Profession: Battle Mage, I would like to see a game give me a full on melee mage class with plate and a shield. Not really a easy thing to put in game with out feeling like a mix of classes or overpowering it but I would like to play one.

All classes are done to death because RPG games have covered them all. We only rarely see new ones but they are sort of variants of more well known classes. Despite this, I quite like these sort of threads so here are 2 suggestions.

- Pit Fighter. A savage, berserk type capable of duel wielding a mixture of weapons for lethal savagery or using a 2 hander putting more force into each blow than actually needed. Lot’s of brute force abilities and very little finesse. Also uses a form of combat drugs to boost his/her performance in battle. They might act like temporary stat boosters or HP regen but definetly damage boosting.

- Harlequin. Light weight, agile as a dancer, precision of a fencer who uses a mix of offensive and defensive abilities as they cut through their opponents with dual swords. Lot’s of dodging about cutting at their opponent weakening it down until finally delivering the death blow. Not very resistant to damage but highly skilled at avoiding it in the first place. Lot’s of special equipment (abilities) that keep their weapons sleek and sharp. Can combine their swords to form one good sword that is extra defensive.

There have been a zillion RPG’s just about every base has been covered. This doesn’t mean we can’t have more.

Personally I’m ok with where they are at. I’d like to see more class balance with the 8 before we move on.

Also the two you suggested are in DAOC as the Berzerker and the Blademaster respectively.

For a new class I’d say Acrobat.

Picture a class that is fueled by endurance instead of cooldowns, and each ability runs off of your endurance.

They’d have an extended endurance bar of course, probably to 4 segmemts, and use it to use reaction and acrobatic attacks that all focus on battlefield positioning and evasion.

Kaineng – Co-Leader of Skrittical Hits
Sybol – Healing Bunker Charr Mesmer (80)
Dresdon Honorclaw – Zerk All-Ranged Charr Warrior | Hawke Fullmoon – Melee Ranger

Logically it would be a heavy class considering we only have 2 of them currently.
What I’d personally like to see is some kind of barbarian, heavy dps class with less defence, others that could be interesting are: Bard (kinda like paragin), Druid (if they dont add more traits or remake ranger I guess).

Ok one its ranger not hunter two… rangers have always been able to summon spirits to buff and debuff foes long before the ritualist was introduced…

three gameplay was given to the engineer and some of its aesthetics was given to the guardian some not all.

and four people who says they would love a new version of the ritualist mean they want a spirit master profession they miss how the ritualist could control spirits and souls and bind them to the realm of the living that is what people want… and you don’t get that with the guardian or the necromancer….

also the guardian is a battlemage it may not be the flavor of battlemage you want but it is a battlemage. and the mesmer and necromancer can kind of do it too.

New classes are fine, but I’m really hoping for more weapon choices for existing classes and maybe new trait lines instead (more horizontal development to make the classes even cooler than they already are).

Examples:
Weaponry that lets Necromancers do tons of direct damage
Weaponry that gives Guardians viable ranged options for WvW
More weapon options for classes with few choices right now, such as Engineers.

And of course… greatsword for Thieves. I want to be able to do a flip in mid-air with a gigantic sword and kill people. Yes, you heard me right. Just do it.

A samurai master class – A master of counter attack

Weapon: katana(new weapon, 2h weapon), 1h sword, dagger(OH), longbow, pistol(OH)

Armor-Medium armor
Health-Medium health pool

Class specific: Zen
An energy bar similar to adrenaline, with 5 level, stand still/block in combat to generate zen, the more zen energy, the more damage the weapon skill can output, zen energy will stop generate while moving, some weapon skill consume zen energy from 1 level to 3 level depends on skills, however zen energy is not required to launch weapon skill.

All weapon skill set will have 1-2 block skills, as long as zen energy is fully filled, samurai will gain might and retaliation boon. Utility skill provide a wide range of choice on avoid/block damage, reflect projectile etc.

As far as I can tell the Dervish/Monk/Paragon were merged into the Guardian class from what I can see of abilities and what not. See certain abilities like shouts… and Contemplation of Purity (A Monk skill in GW1). I doubt we’ll see these classes… personally I’d like to see a monk who is a martial artist, perhaps in a Cantha expansion. But like I said I doubt we’ll see remakes of what we saw in the past. At least from those 3.

The following grew out of a discussion with my Guild:

THE CATAPHRACT

A Heavy-Armored class focused on mobility, conditions and control. An “offensive” counterpart to the Guardian, which is not to say it’s necessary higher damage, but that the Cataphract accomplishes similar ends by stacking conditions on the Enemy that the Guardian accomplishes by stacking Boons on himself/his allies. Has a pronounced Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse motif in skills and traits. All weapons are Cutting/Piercing, no Bludgeoning or Magical weapons.

The Cataphract’s f1-f4 skills are Aspects he can assume, which will add minor cosmetic effects no more pronounced than the rings of energy an Elementalist gets around his hands when attuning. All Aspects come with a persistent upside that always applies, and a chance to inflict some condition attached to all attacks. The persistent benefit is to one stat, and builds over time as you fight (probably fills defensively, rather than from attacking like Life Force or Adrenalin), draining slowly when out of combat – it doesn’t reset when you change Aspects, it just starts giving the benefit type appropriate to that Aspect. Characters should feel comfortable permanently operating in any Aspect, but get more benefit from switching between them as circumstances dictate, although nowhere near as often as an Elementalist swaps Attunements. Traits to add additional short-duration bonuses to Aspect swaps will be found in the Trait lines associated with that Aspect’s attribute. Only one Aspect can be embraced at once, although one of the Elite Skills would probably toggle all four of them for 20-30 seconds. Toggling another Aspect kills the current one, and hitting the key for your current one will shut it off if you want to operate with No Aspect for a time (may drop this feature and just say the visual effects of an Aspect suppress after 20 seconds out of combat or something).

F1 – Aspect of War – Adds a chance to inflict Bleeding. Persistent Buff increases Power. Traits upgrade to also add Burning in a radius around yourself on assuming the Aspect.
F2 – Aspect of Famine – Adds a chance to inflict Weakness. Persistent Buff increases Toughness. Traits upgrade to also Steal Health in a radius around yourself on assuming the Aspect.
F3 – Aspect of Pestilence – Adds a chance to inflict Poison. Persistant Buff increases Accuracy. Traits upgrade to also inflict Blindness in a radius around yourself on assuming the Aspect.
F4 – Aspect of Death – Adds a chance to inflict Vulnerability. Persistent Buff increases Vitality. Traits upgrade to also inflict Chilling in a radius around yourself on assuming the Aspect.

More Cataphracty goodness:

WEAPONS

Greatsword – A highly acrobatic fighting style, dances around the enemy, Cripples and Knocks Down to keep them from running, and dashes in and out of range.
Longbow – Single target focus. Special effects leech health, Blind and Confuse. This is your Kiting weapon for bosses.
Rifle – AoE focus through various types of explosive alchemical rounds. Very strong conditions and controls on very long cooldowns.
Pistol (Main Hand) – This is where you go for AoE Damage, if you’re not too worried about defending yourself at the same time. Autoattack pierces, #2 is a wide range cone, #3 causes burning in a small radius.
Sword (Main Hand) – A Sword Cataphract is a shamelessly dirty fighter – he hits harder when you’re on the ground, your back is turned, or you’re suffering from some kind of control. Mixes martial arts strikes in with stabs and slashes: Autoattack includes a knee to the stomach, and one of the others combos a diagonal slash with a headbutt. Focuses on light, quick attacks, and probably gets the most mileage out of procs from Aspects as a result.
Axe (Main Hand) – The Berserker’s weapon, your best Melee AoE option. Features a very long range Gap Closer for dashing in and making sure a whole heap of enemies notice you’re there, and an attack that grows more powerful the more enemies are in range of its effect (up to 5).
Pistol (Off Hand) – This is the weapon to use if you like to control the enemy’s position If at range, keep them from closing in. If close, keep them from running away. #4 is a cripple, aimed for your targets feet. #5 is a high damage knockdown. Both are single target, but #4 is much faster recharging than typical for off-hand weapons, although it pays the price by having weaker damage.
Sword (Off Hand) – Your enemy is at range, and you want them to regret it. #4 is a flashy Jedi Lightsaber Parry that reflects ranged attacks and deals decent damage to anyone in range. #5 tosses your sword at the enemy with a cord tied to the hilt, then yanks them back towards you.
Dagger (Off Hand) – A cautious duelist’s weapon, features an extremely punishing block/counterattack and a somewhat risky slow-animating rising slash with some of the nastiest Debuffs the class can manage tied to it, best used as a follow up to some kind of control.
Spear & Speargun – Ok, yeah, Underwater Combat hasn’t been our favorite thing in the game so far. No strong ideas here yet.

UTILITY SKILLS

Signet – Nothing new here, you know the drill. Grants some persistent passive benefit that can be suspended to activate a related effect. Passive benefits are likely to be weaker than typical, and active effects more potent, to encourage active use.
Curse – Sort of belongs in the same family as Warrior and Guardian Shout skills, except you intimidate and demoralize your foe instead of bolstering allies. May “splash” some Boon to allies around the targeted enemy, which will last only as long as the enemy stays standing, incentivising use on stronger foes, and also encouraging allies to dogpile the guy you’re making into a Buff Dispensor. Probably a Trait in the 5th Line to add a common effect to Curses depending on the active Aspect.
Omen – An Omen is like a Mesmer’s Mantras, in that you prepare it in advance, but you don’t choose when to trigger them. They fire off when some condition is met (you take damage/you receive a specific condition/your enemy dies/etc). While you’ve got one loaded, you receive a minor buff. For all the hassle prepping them, they produce powerful and lingering Conditions or Boons.
Calamities – Persistent debuff/damage fields, pretty much just Traps under another name. The Cataphract is encouraged to stand right in the middle of them, as they will often grant him bonuses, and Traits further enhance this.
Emblems – Summons a token of one of the Aspects, replacing your Weapon Skills with something appropriate to the Crimson Blade, the Sable Scales, the Argent Crown or the Spectral Scythe. Automatically swaps you to the relevant Aspect when it activates. If you’re already in that Aspect, is treated as a fresh activation for activating additional Trait effects. Not sure exactly what these would do, aside from look neat…

HEALING AND ELITE SKILLS

Still working on ideas here. As mentioned, one of the Elites probably turns on all four Aspects at once, blasting the foe with all relevant conditions if you’ve got the right traits selected.

No profession should be relegated to the function of Support only. I am guessing you didn’t intend for it to come out that way, but it does. I believe you meant the same thing I did, give them a good strong support role but also a good, strong melee dps role.

I like the idea of bringing smites back, excellent idea for a new, revised Monk.

Weapons could include Wraps (just fist fighting), Staves, sticks of various types (current game maces). 2h and dual hand varieties. Long Sword, Sabres, on and on.

They could even be masters of “Improvised Weapons” and have a utility or utilities that sorta “summon” rocks, sticks, etc., based on current environment.

Wow, the Shadow Knight and Demon Walker are right up my alley, I love the undead theme (I was always gonna pick the undead in Warlords: battlecry series). Monk would be interesting choice. I never played GW1 but I found a lot of lore online. Regarding Human gods that left, monk could be nice asset. I imagine it as a profession different from all present classes and to be able to fit in any role and not healer only oriented. It would be good to make profession very customizable trough traits. Their primarily role in lore could be prayer for return of the human gods, thus restoring what is lost in the Orr with new races together. With that said, every race could have access to the new profession but would come with different “agenda”. It would be nice to have totally separate “personal story” on this that triggers once player complete current/original personal story. So human monk would do this for the sake of their beliefs, while charr monk could do it as a way to defend charrs from flame legion, sylvari could see it as an opportunity to help humans and do more on restoring life and nature in the Orr, asura would be curious and try to scientifically explore this while norn monk would believe their spirits are emissaries of the those gods, yet they would believe they are norn gods not human. Every race would have accordingly different story with resulting outcome making particular player some as monk where new city can begin with gods present in it. Other anti-Zaithan forces would ally with them (like Trahern and Destiny edge, Priory, Vigils and Wispers) and cooperate thus leaving space for more expansions. To make it more challenging, this new city would be accessible once this secondary personal story is completed (for non monk professions it would be available when they help some monk to complete final dungeon).

Races: tengu of course, Hylek and quaggan are nice option as well. Largos on the other hand is something i don’t want to see more of.

Classes: classic GW1 Ritualist fits the image of GW2 classes very well, with its balanced healing/support/damage/utility abilities, and would make (along Tengu) a good bridge towards opening Cantha.

They should fix all the classes we have now before the release anything. Even in the expansion. If i see an expansion fulled with fixes and no content ill be equally happy.

These forums are a joke its not for opinions or debate its just a safe place for people to cry at.

Tengu-Dervish. Although they are unlikely to be released on the same expansion, since tengu look Canthan and Dervish are traditionally elonian. I just think that there need to be 3 “heavy armour” classes in the game same as light and medium.
