Guys, they are meant to be rare. If you give a shopping list way to get them, no matter how rare the crafting items, people will find a way to exploit it and make them not-so-rare.
This prevents that. I think it’s a redundant complaint to say “We’ve wasted hundreds of hours and got nothing back” from something that never promised you’d get what you wanted back – that’s the risk.
Did you read anything I wrote in the OP?
LinseyMurdock already confirmed theres no fixed reciped for it. Only way to get it is luck or trading post.
Yes, were all aware of that. The reason people are upset is…What is legendary about a guy who throws 4GS into the forge gets a precursor first try, meanwhile another player puts in 2000 & has nothing to show for it?
Its a terrible design. The only end-game atm is legendary creation & its exclusive to lottery winners. Great concept.
Orrian hammer is currently best looking hammer in the game “Imo”. was really disappointed with the appearance of The Juggernaut. Was expecting something like 10x the size & something meaner looking. Not a giant dumbbell.
Orrian hammers can be picked up on AH for a few gold I think. I’ve had 2 drop for me in Orr.
While I feel the battle standard is a great option for group utility in dungeons the issues related to the battle standard plague its usefulness. To be more specific, the banner is failing a large % of the time. For example:
I go to use banner & am interrupted in some way. Banner goes on cooldown for 4 minutes..
I go to use banner, animation triggers as if banner landed on the ground, no banner present, no one revived…
I go to use banner & accidently roll. Banner goes on cooldown for 4 minutes…
Now the issue here isn’t the cooldown. But rather the “elite skill” going on cooldown when it wasn’t even used or in some cases used but does not work at all.
Please Fix
I understand taste is subject to the individual but I as a charr heavy armor user I am really disappointed at the lack of armor options that are both unique & fitting to Charr. With the exception of Charr T1/T3 armor there really are no alternatives. Its as if the majority of armor was catered to appeal to human players.
I cannot speak for light/medium armor users (Although I have seen some really nice medium armors for charr “imo”) but I really hope in the future more armor is added that suits Charr players.
There is also a discussion about this on the Guru

Interesting perspectives on both sides
@ Wahaha
5 Dusks for under 400g. What a bargain. No thanks, I think I will wait for A-NET to make a official response. I hope they make all precursors account bound overnight & add a recipe, leaving all the players involved in this scandal SOL.
Maybe if you guys would stop pissing all your gold into the forge then you might have enough money to buy the precursor weapon.
Maybe you should have done what I did weeks ago and buy my precursor for less than 20g.
Morons.
Thanks for contributing to the discussion that was very insightful. Perhaps the reason we have not purchased it off the TP is because A. Who has 300g+ B. We do not want to support exploiters/chinese gold farmers which have bought up a large portion of the precursor market.
A very small % of the precursors out there are actually legitimate. Also as you mentioned, precursors were going for 10-20g. Now they are 300-400g. No thanks, I’ll wait for A-NET to make a official response on the issue.
Now before I begin this is not meant as a jab against Lindsey Murdock for coining the phrase RNG is “fun & exciting” but rather to show one users reaction after attempting to create a precursor using 28 exotic greatswords.

Imagine how the players who have thrown 1000+ rares into the Mystic Forge in hopes of creating a precursor & have come out empty handed feel.
“Its meant to be legendary & hard to obtain”
It is. The karma & material requirements are already a massive undertaking even without the precursor. If you think farming for 8+ hours a day for 1-2 months straight for a single weapon skin is not substantial well then I would question ones priorities.
Precursors need to be made available via a vendor/recipe. One suggestion would be to require players to exchange 500 tokens from every dungeon. That at the very least requires some effort. Not just another gold sink.
So basically the top thread of every forum on the internet related to GW2 is related to precursors & peoples dissatisfaction with the current design philosophy of obtaining them.
Is that enough to warrant action Lindsey? This is something that needs to be addressed. A recipe/vendor needs to be added. One that does NOT require gold. (See Gift of Fortune) It should require tokens from every dungeon or some other feat. Not just another money sink.
Considering legendary creation “IS” currently the only end game in GW2 the outcome will determine whether or not a large % of people continue to play. Right now hundreds of thousands of players are collecting mats for their legendaries waiting in hope that this is resolved. Please address this.
Legendaries are supposed to be very rare and extremely hard to obtain. This is in fact why they are considered legendary.
No amount of QQing will change this. So either put the effort in or forget about it.
This argument holds no weight. The mats/karma required for the legendary alone are absolutely insane. That alone will deter most people. As for the precursors, how hard was it to obtain for those who exploited or bought if off the TP for 10g when it is now going for 300-400g?
Simply put, precursors should not require gold to obtain at all. One should be able to purchase one with say 500 tokens from every dungeon, via karma or some other means. Not another money sink. If they wanted it to cost more they should have included it in the gift of fortune. Also precursors should be made account bound to spite all those players hoarding precursors monopolizing the market.
Sounds good as long as the total amount of materials required to make it is worth >300g
Absolutely not. Precursors were going for 10-20g early on. Anything more is out of the question. Precursors shouldn’t even be a money sink to begin with. They should be a reward in exchange for like 500 dungeon tokens from all dungeons. To those who spent 300g+ on their precursors bought from gems on their visa, well that is unfortunate. Should have waited.
Really looking forward to seeing A-NET’s response on this. I am hoping this is changed to a recipe that requires players to actually complete something & not just another money sink. Something such as:
500 tokens from all dungeons or something to that extent. If A-NET wanted a bigger money sink it should have been included in the gift of fortune.
Also hoping all precursors are made account bound. That would eliminate all the players sitting on 20+ precursors in the bank, controlling the economy.
Speaking of which, what is being done about said players that used godskull exploits? They are “the” reason the economy is in its current state.
