The details are definitely stored server side…
And I am not logging in to the game until this is resolved.
If the worst does happen, I need a strong case of plausible deniability when I contact my bank to have the funds restored.
I dont have to worry about this. Do what I did, go to your bank statements, find the recipient of your gem purchase payment, and have that 1 recipient blocked from any further transactions from your account outbound. – That way it will completely negate the issue untill Ncsoft is pulled in line by Arenanet.
I have contacted my bank. I have asked them to treat any further charges from PlayNC EU and Ncsoft EU as fraudulent charges. I explained to them that the company was not letting me remove my cc details, and that I was unable to contact their customer support in a timely manner to try and resolve the issue, and they readily agreed to flag both recipients.
(what this means is if any payment charges come in from those two names, the bank contacts me before authorising payment, or in this case blocking payment- this saves the bank time and effort in their obligation to help me with chargebacks, but it also saves me a lot of headache in general)
I also may have mentioned they made out a new visa to me just last year when SoE was hacked. So they treated the issue with respect and I felt they stepped in to the breach for me. – I also asked them if it was really legal for NCsoft to store my cc details without giving me a way to remove those details later and they flat out said it was not legal in the EU to do so.
I sincerely hope this issue is brought to the attention of NCsoft and that arenanet does so promptly so that all this aggravation doesnt end up aimed at them.

I almost tried that, but figured that would probably make me to mad to write anything coherent LOL.
As of right now, our cc details are basically stored without us having an option to remove them again. This actually is illegal in the EU, not sure about the US, however that doesnt mean anything. It just makes it a little easier when you contact your bank and tell them to track down your latest gem purchase recipient and block that from any future transaction from your account.
I dont think you have to save your cc details when you make your first purchase. I did because I was dumb. When I try to remove them now, long after the initial purchase Im outta luck. There is no such option.
Just dont attach any cc details to your purchase and you should be ok.
I have to wait till monday to contact my bank. Have them look at who I made the original payment to, and make sure to block that recipient from any future charges, untill I can remove the details from the gemshop. Thats the only other way I can be sure Ive done all I could to not end up in the same position I was with SoE.
it also means I wont be making any gem purchases, but this is the hazzle their system have forced on me.
Im wearing the human female t3 bp and legs. I like the way it looks, but like I reported on the bug forum earlier, it has a graphical glitch that literally cuts the female abdomen open, so that you can see where the top half of the body has been meshed with the lower half. Its sloppy stretching, and clearly visible – So unless you can live with that, dont buy it till they fix that bit.
I posted a screenshot earlier but here it is again
Im in the same boat
I want to get support to remove my CC details from the gem store, something Im not able to do myself. As someone who had to get a new visa after SoE contacted me and informed me I was one to the few thousand europeans who had their stolen, I dont want to have my cc details saved on any mmo site.
There is no way to untick the saved cc details after the purchase is final. I dont want to have to order yet another visa to be issued to me within a year because of mmo company’s and their strange methods.
I tried to go through support, although with it being this swamped its mindboggling that they would want us to go through them to fix such a detail. – But I made my support account in beta, the day the system came online, and it is not recognising my email, username or passwords – WHICH I WROTE DOWN WHEN I FIRST MADE THE ACCOUNT.
So not only can I not remove the cc details on my own, Im currently also out of luck with regards to the support system, which does have my email on record, but doesnt want to let me login and use it, nor allow me to reset the password.
I want to say, before today when I decided to clean the cc details from the gem shop and discovered I couldnt, I was perfectly happy with Arenanet. But now, after the stress of the SoE debacle, Im having serious deja vu, and I do not want to leave it in Arenanet hands to protect me. I want to do what I can at my end, and that includes not storing those details. Please let me remove them without clogging up the support system. OR please let me file a ticket using the email I have already registered. The same as I use to access the forums. Thanks!
You are joking?
I have to write their support? they are already completely swamped Im sure. There is no way they wouldnt make sure such an issue was able to be handled on the user end, after the SoE debacle.
If you are not joking, Im going to have to go to the bank again, and change my visa. Second time in a year due to the methods of mmo companies. WTH is wrong with the people designing these systems. They dont encourage you to purchase more gems by aggravating their customers in this way.
- then again, Im hoping you’re wrong, Im flabbergasted.
Does anyone know how I can uncheck the saved cc details from a previous purchase?
I dont see the option to do so, and it makes me uncomfortable that its saved. – I had my old SoE account compromised when they got hacked, and although I hope Arenanet doesnt have their security issues, I really would prefer not to rely on them solely.
Can anyone advise how this is done. I dont see the option to remove it ingame.
I can’t see any way to remove my own cc details from the gem shop after purchase.
Since someone can request a new password to a new email adress if they guess my login (lets call it hack whatever you prefer) – I would like to remove the cc details.
I am sure I am overlooking it somewhere, certainly it can’t be right and proper to not accord the customer an option to remove it again?
As of right now, I dont want to go and make a purchase in order to bring up an option to untick the saved details from earlier.
Please help and advise.
When wearing the human female tier 3 cultural armor which costs 30gold, there is an unfortunate graphical glitch which basically cuts the abdomen in half whenever the character does any idle animations. It seems the skin texture doesnt stretch properly and instead a gaping hole appears through which the background can be seen.
I have asked other players in game to observe and they confirm what I see. They did not have the same graphic card as I did, so I believe this is an issue with the texture of the female and not something that I can alleviate.
Please look at the screenshot attached.
For reference I am using a radeon 7970HD, while the graphical glitch was also observed from someone using an Nvidia 670.
I am using the latest drivers.
- Normally I would not report something like this, but I think when an outfit costs over 100g to complete it shouldnt be delivered with something that takes a chunk out of the character
