Im pretty sure the “great” when referring to a weapon is simply a reference to its size more than anything else… so a rather large battleaxe could infact be classified as a greataxe (most likely just made for someone alot bigger than you tho).
or a really big longbow reffered to as a greatbow
it could be used for just about any oversized weapon
simple if you could have any kinda weapon including offhands you cant already get what would it be?
some possible canditates would be:
Greataxe
Various polearms
Fistweapons/claws
Knife (for more underwater)
Crossbows
Chakram
Energy shield (magical or technological)
or perhaps even go further and seperate rifle and shotgun… engineers know what im talking about.
There are 2 things that engineers excel at and no other class can come close to matching the engineer at these
We are the coolest class
and
We are the most fun class
in summary, WE ARE AWESOME
well hammers make perfect sense for an engineer… what self respecting engineer doesnt know how to bash something with a hammer to repair it?! or for that matter use one to demolish stuff…
anyway id say upgrade the mortar to a tank… insead of sitting around getting about 1 shot off before having an entire horde of enemys on top of you… just tank it so it can move and… tank stuff? maybe add a turret seat for an ally on top
ah i see what the problem is, and i know what Anet is going to do about it.
good news everyone! asuran engineers are now immune to elixir S effect as they already have it permanently
tbh most of the problems with engineer could have just been solved by making kits change with your weapon (and actually use your choice of weapon)
Example would be:
the flamethrower not just being a flamethrower but your rifle altered to become the “heavy” flamethrower and say a “light” flamethrower for pistol with different skills
how would the bomb kit work? simple rifle becomes a rocket launcher (grenade launcher for grenade kit obv) and pistols become say a mine launcher (since we havent actually got many mines)
toolkit would be an awkward one but how about it just modding your weapons into some form of tool (like a slightly more spammy prybar on rifle)
as far as im aware engineer is sort of a “jack-of-all-trades” yet is completely overtaken in that respect by elementals who might aswell be “master-of-all-trades” in comparison
the issue with kits is the fact we need to waste a utility slot just to gain access to our equivilent of weapon swap and yet the kits dont even use our weapons as if needing to waste a slot just to get it wasnt bad enough
i demand a call in tank skill instead of mortar!
