Low population makes for bad matchups. Wait till prime PvP time for your server.

Should have mentioned that this WAS during prime time. All the queues were instant too.

Either matchmaking is turned off or not working properly.

With my second solo queue after the patch (first one being a loss), I was up against a full premade that had won several times in a row already. Found this out by talking to one of them.

I was with a bunch of rank 8’s and 9’s so I doubt their matchmaking rating was high.

Ranked single queue possible?

I tend to have a circle of contacts I’m able to invite for paid/free tournaments so this isn’t a problem for me.

But it is my belief that this kind of feature would be the single best thing they could implement to get more people playing tPvP. Similar to how RA was always popping no matter what time or day one would queue. Even when I played GW1 a few months before the launch of GW2, it was popping non stop. And that’s several YEARS since GW1’s release.

Please make this happen.

It is my opinion that everyone would love strictly single queues into 5-mans, free, paid, rated or non-rated.

Every tournament style game that is out right now has something of this nature.

Hotjoins do nothing to prepare a player for tournament pvp. Especially when 8v8 isn’t the style for tournaments and the 5v5 maps tend to have 4v5 most of the time. On top of that, hotjoins allow for the leaving of games which further imbalance the teams. For me, hotjoins are meant to farm glory/rank or test out some new build at this point in the game. Nothing more. Free tournaments are horribly imbalanced due to the fact that a VOIP premade can fight non-voiped solo queuers.

Dealing with glass cannon thieves as a necro

You are running a pure glass build, I suggest not running locust and running Well of Suffering instead since double wells is what that build is all about.

Of course your team should help peel the thief from you. But that goes for any glass build.

The best thing to do is to pop plague right away and blind to run to teammates, but that isn’t always available.

For this particular build, I suggest always running with a some death shroud up (as per any necro obv). As much as you want to pop DS to kill people since you’re running with decent power, you’re going to have to use your DS as your main defensive ability for glass cannon builds.

Death shroud fear as soon as you get hit with burst, the quicker the better. Instantly switch to staff and #5 fear #4 transfer conditions (if you have immob on you) and #3 chill/poison. The thief will want to get back to you and use his stolen fear most likely.

Here you have two options:

1. pop both wells on top of you and dodge twice around in them while healing, damaging with staff #1 (or scepter/dagger if you had staff on when he attacked you, #4 blind, #5 weakness) waiting on DS to pop up again. Again you’ll have to watch his animations for casting the stolen fear and dodge it. It IS possible to kill a thief doing this even if he uses is stealth heal.

2. dodge once in the opposite direction of fear (and save the other dodge if he ports to fear you) and try to run and heal towards your teammates. Locust does help for this but honestly if you’re running such a glass cannon build: it’s for the team fights with double wells and not running one of the wells defeats the purpose of running the build.

As with all 5v5’s your team should be looking for the thief the whole match and knowing where he is enables you to avoid his burst entirely with positioning. Or have him burst on you while being in a horrible position.

Shroudstomp fixed?

No before the “fix” it was possible to start stomping/rezzing first then hit deathshroud. Since afterwords, they made the sequence tighter, impossible to stomp/rez first, and only deathshrouding first works.

Was shroudstomping yesterday (Tuesday 15th) in frees and paids.

It is still possible to shroudstomp. Just make sure to deathshroud first then hit stomp/rez.
It must be done quick.

For instance, my deathshroud button is “T” and stomp/rez is “F”. So I just roll my finger from T to F quickly.

Terror 2nd tick

To my understanding, the 2nd fear tick has something to do with when the fear is applied in relation to when normal bleed ticks fire off. While having higher condition/fear duration helps with this, the fear has to fall at a certain time to encompass two ticks of bleeding (since bleeding is 1 tick per 1 second). Sometimes the 2nd fear tick still fires off even if the fear applied falls slightly short of the 2nd tick of bleed.

All Condition damage (except confusion) does damage at the same time in the same interval.

I have 60% fear duration and this more than enough to see the tick 2nd tick almost always.

It’s nice to have NA point of view to in state of the game, because it’s overall and not only EU. It’s good for the community.
To answer to people what is the current meta in EU it’s :
EuroComp :
Guardian
Thief DD with macro
Ele
Necro
Shatter Mesmer (20/20/0/0/30)
Some teams plays with Ele double dagger tf, other go for bunker ele s/d, far point.
Necro condi/bunker or double weels carrion or power.

Some teams like the spanish one plays double ele, we play double guardian/ranger, but 95% of teams are playing the setup above.
Maybe because it’s the strongest one ? because it has the most broken spec in it (ele tank/thief dd).

That’s pretty standard everywhere, except you see 100b warrior more and staff ele less in NA

No one play warrior and/or staff ele in eu. Thief does a warrior’s job better, and s/d is much better than staff.

I meant s/d less, not staff, my b. Most ele’s offensive D/D. And ocassionally you’ll see a warrior, thief is still pretty much on 99% of the teams.
