No! I say NO!!
hehe, we dont need “tanks” not at all, people just need to realize that if they go glass cannon, they will die fast. If you are not skilled enough to dodge out of ANIMATED attacks and aoe, then don’t go glass cannon. Dungeons are all fine. (I can solo dungeons, got pictures, but my words ain’t proof, I know)
Honestly, it should be a luxury to go glass cannon. If you are skilled enough, then do, if not, then don’t. Then you have something to strive for.
First of all, I’ll try to keep this short. (When I am talking about raids, I am not talking about outdoor bosses that one can just join, do minimum amount of work and get rewarded the same as players that have really pulled their weight, I am talking about instanced raids that are organized.)
Many of us already know it, Gw2 needs organized raids that encourages cooperation among players. Now, why does it need raids? The essential reason to have raids is to keep players interested in the end game content. Raids makes people come together and have a great time., raids make people better players, raids makes you feel that you’re a part of something.
I do believe Anet have stated that they won’t focus so much on end game raiding (Not fully validated information) but if this is true, they are doing a huge mistake and damages their own work of art. Raids are so important to keep players interested, to strive for progression and accomplishments.
My whole guild on Far Shiverpeak stopped playing because it was no real endgame content, so I can’t stress this enough.
Gear.
Some people are concerned with the idea that others have better gear than them and there for can preform better and have advantages. Well, I don’t really see the problem in this, but I will take it into account.
Gear does not need to be that much better. However, we do need a gear motivator to do raids, but it doesnt have to improve your character that much, only slightly. (Example, 30 more AP, some more vitality, precision, you name it, but it doesnt have to be much)
I believe that with Gw2 combat system they can make so many incredible encounters that is designed for many people. (Ever killed Giganticus Lupicus the correct way?Think about that fight, without dragging him to the waypoint and zerg it from there. )

- Now, I dont want any comments on what Anet have said about raids.
- The gear matter is already explained.
