Allow free transfers to low population servers only.

I suspect that the number of people transferring from a high pop to low pop server is very low.

People are willing to put up with queues rather than suffer on a low pop server that are routinely trounced in WvW.

The issue is, as I’ve mentioned in other threads, server pop is not the same as WvW pop.

Eredon Terrace is/was medium pop but WvW is always full. Many of the full servers have low WvW pops.

Part of the issue is communication. I had that problem in BWE2 and 3. The servers I was on for those were almost useless. You tr to call out things that need defending, or try to rally troops and no one would listen.

It gets really disheartening when you try and organize an offensive front and no one joins. Sadly there isn’t anything ANet can do about communication.

The imbalanced match ups certainly don’t help.

Anyway, if it’s your idea that bringing unnecessary amount of force to a spawn camp is a positive recruitment effort, then I hate to break it for you: you are not going to win the appeal of your target audience with that. Yes, I am aware of there are several routes leading out of any spawn area, but it doesn’t change the fact that you brought that amount of force to demoralize your opponents, thus, hindering competition, and generally associate your guild with negative PR.

Well, to be fair, if their target audience is other players that are looking to destroy and demoralize their opponent this is a good way to do it. Same for if their target audience is people that just want to win and don’t care about PR, possitive community image, or anything like that.

There are some people that care about fighting fair, being honorable and being well known. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Do we have to have these threads repeated ad nauseum? Anet have said WvWvW is designed to be a persistent 24 hour battle. This is working as intended. Perhaps you could invite some Canadians to your server so you can be competitive?

The reason this is an issue is for this very reason. The top servers recruit the main guilds and you get a huge imbalance. Not only does it mean people leave some servers empty because they transfer to the bigger ones, it can also lead to an uneven number of dominant servers.

We have that issue now on the US servers. There are 4 main servers which means one of the servers is stuck with under matches competition.

Are any of the one week match ups close?

That’s still pretty close compared to the second bracket. I mean, ET has something like a 150k lead on the other two servers.

I have a thing against spawn camping.

Let’s be honest though. Yes, it’ll cost you money to let opponents break your siege weapons and structures, but camping an enemy spawn with a bunch of golems and ballistas is not a necessity to compete. Plus, I have a feeling that Ruin doesn’t need new recruits since they clearly has the superior number…

It’s called demoralizing the enemy to hinder competition. While it’s not cheating, it’s poor sportsmanship, and I find it silly to pretend otherwise.

The reason Ruin needs and wants recruits is so they can actually compete against servers like Henge. Right now ET doesn’t have a strong enough night force (or aussie force or whatever) to stand up to the top three servers. Because of that they get stuck with other servers that have even less of a night presence and end up in the current situation.

If one of the top three servers didn’t exist or if it was 1v1 battles instead of 1v1v1 we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation. The issue is because it’s 1v1v1 and there are 4 “top” servers, 3 of the top servers will be in a challenging match up and the 4th server will be stuck with two lower population servers.

The only problem like this is large guild may be force to break up to spread out.

Or you’ll still get some of the super-power servers because a guild will just plan to move over all at once to get on the lowest pop server.

The other issue is server pop != WvW pop. ET is (was?) relatively low pop but still have WvW queue times because they have a lot of PvPers.

And just because a server has a lot of people in WvW doesn’t mean they’re all PvPers. Some might just be going to check it out, some might be trying to get 100%.

So how, then, do you make sure the WvW populations are evenly distributed?

Sadly I think this is partially because the server limits are so high. Since the servers ALLOW such a large player base and such large guilds, they’re able to form massive alliances.

I think instead of trying to fix the primetime vs night-time issue they need to find a way to encourage servers/guilds to spread out.

What actually is the story behind that image is ET beats the crap out of SoS, which has been cheating with flight hacks for the past half week. After it becomes apparent that even if ET handed over all territories to SoS and stopped playing for the rest of the week, SoS could never win, Ruin’s leader heads over to SoS’s server to take a picture of the golem group from SoS’s perspective. SoS then uses this one screenshot to invent a convoluted explanation for their own terrible performance.

Hold up, are you accusing SoS of using flight hacks? If so thank you for making my day, 10/10 would read again for a good laugh.

If they aren’t using flight hacks I’d love to see a video of how they got a treb to the left of the waterfall at their base. I have never seen anyone get up there before. I’d be genuinely interested in see a “how to video”. Is it even possible for enemies to get up there?

so lets go to the list.

1. we are not cheating, we are however recruiting. at this point we GAIN NOTHING by trying to spy on you. when this was taken you literally had +0 points. recruiting is also not cheating or exploiting, its a fact of life in wvw.

Mate, I think your guilds rep has been soiled enough. You say your guild wouldn’t prevent us at least trying in another thread, but changed your mind here? Your leader is trying to recruit Oceanics to your server, I think that is the very definition of hindering our efforts.

No one cares what you have to say. Your guild is a joke. You use cheap tactics and your “guild leader” proves it. Don’t be too upset because you’ve been exposed.

I don’t know if recruiting on your server is hindering your efforts. He’s not forcing people to transfer, he’s not giving away the position of tactics of your server. He’s saying ET need night time WvWers and figures your server might have some.

I do, however, think taking advantage of the free server transfers and being able to get into WvW (I thought there was a lockout period) is a little questionable. Recruiting in lions arch map chat is one thing but doing in in WvW seems like insult to injury.

It’s been what, 4 hours now? What are they gaining from this?

They have everything to gain. By dominating the map they get more points and get more buffs. It also means they get more points so they’ll likely be ranked higher than the losing server in the top 3 server match up.

There isn’t a reason NOT to spawn camp once you’re able to. There’s no benefit to actually fighting over positions. There’s no reason to LET you’re opponents leave their spawn, especially if you’ve dumped money into into upgrading keeps and towers, you don’t want to let the enemy out to try and take them back.

It’s a design flaw, really.

Though, I think SoS or IoJ COULD escape if they actually got all 100+ people into EB and pushed out together. Eventually ET would be overwhelmed. The only problem is SoS and IoJ have lost all motivation to queue. That lack of motivation may carry into next week causing more loses, and eventually they either wont queue at all, or they’ll transfer servers to join one of the powerhouses.

I don’t know what ANet can do to fix it but as long as there are 4 powerhouse servers there will be at least one crappy match up per week.

I don’t think it really counts as spying if SoS can’t even leave their spawn.

From that reddit thread I think they said he was there trying to recruit players for ET night defenses.

I’d like to see some more dynamic environment type stuff. Maybe changing weather conditions, fog of war and the like.

And maybe some sort of advance scouting mechanics or small team gameplay.

It would be interesting if you had ways of surveying the area or sneaking around as a small group or if undermanned groups had a better chance against larger zergs.

Or maybe some sort of incentive to prevent zerging

It depends. I haven’t don’t too much testing but if you have high +healing your Signet of the wild(?) that gives you and your pet health over time does increase for both you and your pet.

If you use something like healing spring your +healing will affect the base amount you and your pet are healed for but I don’t think it has an affect on the regen your pet gets.

Buy karma items and forging them should be legal. The only time it was exploited was when the cultural karma weapons were 21 karma instead of 21000 karma.

Otherwise it shouldn’t be illegal for your to spend your karma on all one item if you want.

Can I craft Legendaries as a Cook/Jeweler as well?

Probably not. Legendaries have the same stats as exotics, they just look fancy. As a jewel crafter and cook you don’t actually have anything visible so it doesn’t make much sense.

Though I guess it would be nice if they could create something visible even if it’s just town clothes or some sort of back armor or something.

Mystic forge eating crafted accessories

I reported this in game but I want to post it here to see if anyone else has noticed this.

Last night I created 8 green, level 80 accessories (mostly rings but also a necklace or two). I put them into the mystic forge and they didn’t seem to combine at all. It took the 8 green items and returned nothing.

I then tried some level 70-75 green accessories and those went into the mystic forge just fine.

Has anyone else had this issue? Did I just get unlucky?
