We are far from op, especially considering every class in the game other than warrior and ranger got buffed as well.
The new spectral wall thing is fun though to chain fear on people who don’t know how to avoid it. I was roaming alone in wvw #MagSWAG, and this thief jumped me and I beat him pretty easily. Naturally he invited me to party and we dueled for a bit, I won 4 out of 5 times. But what was funny is he got on his guard right after that. So, I started the fight with 2 and 3 in staff and he immediately popped his stand your ground which I corrupted then placed the wall in his path, then used ds 3 on him, then stakitten . 100 to 0 in about 6 seconds, I lol’d and left party…
so I guess for bad players necros are now a nightmare…

may as well go all out.
ds 1 skill crits for 4-6k
dagger 1 chains for 5k at +50 percent hp and 9k at -50% hp
lich crits for 6-8k w/o might
wh 5 ticks for 400-800 for the full duration
traited shivers crits for 3k
fire sigil crits for 1.5k aoe
air sigil crits 4-5k
staff auto attack crits for 3k
staff 4 crits for 6k aoe
works for me I never die, just know when to dodge and when to interrupt with wh and you wont even take damage.

I can say it got me more than a little angry at how dismissive the devs were about doing anything to help out necros. I am very close to just quiting this game…
I apologize I did not make myself more clear. 1) I could honestly care less about pve, there I think the necro is fine.
2) I don’t zerg I am a roamer meaning I engage in no more than 5v10, but mostly 1v1s and 2v3s. In which I am almost always the first to go down no matter what build I bring.
What I’m saying is as of right now the necro is a very squishy class with very little dps. What I would like to be is a very annoying class that simply outlasts the other classes in battle. Which is what a necro should be in the first place.
Zero escapes maybe. I have no problem with our stun breakers really. Necrotic traversal could use a change so you swap places before the other effects. Then that would be an escape. But other than thakittens good. Spectral walk is fantastic. Plague signet could transfer blind instead of counting as a miss, but works pretty well anyway.
The only place I feel behind as a necro is in spvp and I’m fairly sure that’s just because I haven’t worked out an spvp build I like yet. In pve and wvw I feel on par with other classes. Especially when I hit a zerg with staff 2-5 and laugh maniacally as they scatter from the damage and my allies mop up.
I have a few people I want you to duel. You won’t think the playing field is so even after that. In team fights we are a bit more useful but not much, the second they identify you are a necro you get locked down immediately. This is something my suggestion would bring out of practice.
So, a stun breaker on a 10s CD (5 if traited) and 20-30% invulnerability uptime. Its OP.
why we have zero useful stunbreakers and zero escapes. so why the heck not?
obviously you’ve never met a Mesmer, which can be invulnerable 99.9 % of the time with sword 2 and distortion……
Its really easy, make going into death shroud a stunbreaker with it also granting a 2-3 second invulnerability, with a 10-sec internal cd on the invuln.
I would like to know what you guys think about this, I think this would bring necros up to an even playing field with the rest of the classes.
No, I’m very certain the devs for this game dont have a clue. I ran cof today with a dev on his warrior, and was running full signets. He told me he plays that build in wvw and pvp too. That right there, if you know anything about warriors, is all you need to know about the devs for this game.
Its kinda good though that the consensus is that necros are underpowered because it makes me as a necro player feel pretty darn awesome when I destroy people in 1v1s and even 3v1s .
