I think many of us would be more than happy with general information (avoiding liabilities) to let us know that things are, in fact, in the works.

Many MMOs just give their players the PvP portion and leave it at that.

As evilapprentice said, I enjoy the game beneath. It’s a breath of fresh air to get visceral combat without the avalanche of never or rarely used skills, etc, etc, etc.

But we have questions. Are balance adjustments being looked into (regardless of specifics), or is bunker-burst a competitive meta which is here to stay as-is? Has the game achieved the desired meta, or are tweaks being considered? This is a simple, yet somewhat game-defining question. Knowing just a little general direction, one way or another, would be a comfort.

Questions about game types are similar. Even if they weren’t rated, I’d enjoy more modes for spvp. Obviously, pretty much everyone feels the same way. While I, too, have no problem waiting, I’d prefer “We intend to add more game types when we have finished higher priorities” over “We’ll think about it, maybe.”

While I’ll continue to play the game because it’s fun and stop, like anyone else, when it’s not, part of that is knowing what we’re playing. What kind of game are we learning all the classes and skills and builds for? What kind of game are we ranking up and gearing characters for? Where’s it heading?

I love the game, but I too would appreciate a little bit of communication, however general. Tiered PvE gear (surprise!) being the best available to WvW raises enough questions. A few answers would be welcome.

Downed State Camera

I can appreciate the immersion of a close-up, near-death struggle.

But I think it can be done better, and certainly in pvp.

With invisible finishers and quickness finishers, is the camera really a desirable source of challenge? I’m frequently annoyed by the lack of visibility and inability to select targets which I am aware of, but cannot keep up with given the downed state camera.

What motivated me to post this comment, specifically, was fighting a downed mesmer as a downed necromancer underwater. There, the extremely close camera is even more difficult to overcome given the third dimension of movement.

Because the mesmer was able to relocate, I had a significant disadvantage. We were in close proximity, so his movement was to potentially any angle. I was obviously stationary and he suffered no similar disadvantage. Unless my losing a few seconds spinning my camera to all possible angles is an intended balance function, the downed state camera is influencing outcomes in an imbalancing way.

I appreciate the immersion the current mechanic provides, but I do not enjoy fighting against a UI mechanic. While a close-proximity downed-vs-downed fight with a mesmer underwater isn’t particularly common, to a lesser degree similar annoyances occur fairly often. I enjoy fighting players very much. I do not enjoy fighting the camera and interface.

I think it could be done better. Even just a little less zoom out would widen the camera angle enough to greatly reduce what I describe here without ruining the immersive qualities of the adjustment. While not extremely common or game-breaking, I find it certainly detracts more from the game than any minor adjustments to lessen its detrimental effects would.

Let us be able to take out spvp gear to pve

It would be nice to be able to transfer skins.

I play to pvp, but it’d be nice to be able to show off my sexy pvp skins while doing random dungeons with friends on occasion.

And this idea would be even better if there were any pvp skins. :P

Options are always good.

In another MMORPG I always had a static map with player names displayed (and party/guild members in different colors).

It was convenient. I liked it.
