I agree with Paulytnz.7619
Just have the trial players playing in their own instance with all forms of communication disabled.
The idea is to give players a taste of the game, and to see if it will even run on your computer.
I did eventually get convinced by my friends, and did watch several videos, but I had no idea if I would even be able to run this, or if I would run into technical problems, even if I do meet the specs there are issues that can crop up.
The problem here, fellas, is that paying a large sum is a leap of faith.
Maybe 40-50$ isn’t a lot to you, but some people really do need to watch their money, and this type of game certainly isn’t for everyone.
I always hated games that had no trial, and so often had to find some unofficial source to give it a test run, to peek inside the box and see what I’m really getting for my money.
I’ve been trying to talk some friends into getting this game, but there’s no way for them to try it out to see if it’s worth the $50+ for them.
I didn’t get this game for months because I had no way of trying it for myself and seeing if it would really be my cup of tea (Was playing Rift at the time, which is entirely F2P, with a boosts and novelty/costume item shop, and they don’t even require you to register an account until level 10)
Perhaps if we could have a limitless trial with the following restrictions?
- Level cap at 20
- Gold cap at 1g
- Trade/Shop Access disabled, view only.
- Map chat disabled
- Limitations on anything else that could be exploited.
That’s very useful to know that instant casts wont interrupt it, thanks!
I wonder if the frozen earth fluke should be reported as bug?
Could we have a way of creating weapon groups, and switching between them with a key press while out of combat?
This would differ from what we already have where you switch between two weapons – This would only be allowed out of combat, and allow a player to easily manage what weapon sets they want to use between fights.
Let’s say you’re an elementalist, and the fight up ahead is far more desirable if you change from D/D to Staff. You’d be able to switch between D/D, S/F, S/D, and Staff without any hassle.
Things tend to get scattered around when you’re changing from a two-handed to two separate weapons, so a way to keep this organized would be much appreciated.
If this is too much to ask, do any of you have tips on keeping your weapons nicely organized when switching between 2H and MH/OH weapons that you don’t want to sell by accident? I know we got safe boxes, but what happens if it gets filled while you’re using D/D and switching to staff throws one of them outside of it?
I’ve tried changing between WvW and teleporting to different areas and it still doesn’t update the cursor properly.
If that is the case, then excellent.
I do wish the skill tooltip explained this a bit more.
If I cast another spell while it is channeling, will this cancel it as well?
I didn’t notice a decrease in the number of meteors
Meteor Shower behaves very strangely.
If you abort casting as soon as the first meteor is dropped, the rest will carry through.
Does channeling for the full duration cause more damage or launch more meteors? I’ve noticed no difference.
Some insight on this would be nice, it’s a very confusing ability with very situational usefulness.
When Blasting Staff is active, it doesn’t properly scale up your cursor, so your targeted AoE abilities will cover a larger area than anticipated.
