IMO, if longbow is intended to be a sniper weapon, then it should give us extra damage when we’re standing still. Say Rapid Fire +20% damage when player is not moving.
A few days ago, I came a cross a group of 5 rangers, wearing identical outfit, same bear pet. They move in synchronized motion (like a train) and running up and down in a very deserted part of Cursed Shore.
What’s interesting is, I’m pretty sure that gotta be some kind of bot, but the lead character seems to be control by human, not bot. (because he walked up to a mithril node and farmed it) Just the other 4 characters have to be bots mirroring the control on the lead character. I’m pretty sure this kind of “power leveling” is against policy. I would love to report it but I don’t know how this would help? If I report the lead character, I don’t know if Anet can see he’s controlling other 4 bots, or do I report everyone of them? I don’t wanna accuse someone without proof and get banned for that. But why the report player (botting) function doesn’t let u attach a screenshot?
I haven’t file a report on this guy yet, and I’ve been seeing him there for 3-4 days. But I did take multiple screenshots. What should I do?
I kinda don’t like the way how they titled that article “China used prisoners in lucrative internet gaming work”. Just because a few corrupted prison wardens forced the prisoners into gold farming doesn’t mean it is an official policy in China to use prisoners to score a few extra points in their GDP. The news certainly won’t label “UK used prisoners in lucrative internet gaming work” if that happened in UK. Sorry I just have to call it out :P
Gold farming / selling is extremely destructive to any mmo. I’ve seen it first hand in FFXI. I joined that game when it was 3 years old. By that time a lot of people already hit level cap. That game does not have DR or any anti-bots measure in place. Hyperinflation kicked in, prices on trading post is so ridiculous that new players cannot afford anything, not even food item that gives boost to stats. Whenever you ask for help such as a resurrection or a quest, people are expecting you to pay them, because they thought everyone is loaded anyway. It became extremely difficult to make progress at one point because I’m not rich enough to “hire” a party to help me get past a level cap quest I just quit the game all together.
I definitely don’t want to quit GW2 due to hyperinflation. That’s why I’m reporting every bots / gold seller that I see in the game now.
I have collected full set of tier 2 medium and tier 3 medium coat for my ranger. The tier 2 does not glow but the tier 3 does, and it’s very pretty. The glow pulses slowly. Its the same armor that Caithe wears.
Before the game launch, I saw an image of Caithe where her armor glows in the dark. It was that day I decided I want that armor on my character
The glow color doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my character glow color. I picked a light violet for my glow color, and the glowing part on tier 3 medium has a green tint (just like Caithe). Depends on what dye you pick that hue could change drastically. Midnight ice or very dark color like abyss will mute it.
A more robust macro system would be nice. Something I experienced in FFXI that I miss very much.
Ever wonder why your dungeon party doesn’t do enough damage? If you’re playing with some random people, chances are you don’t coordinate attacks / combos with them. Everyone is doing their own thing and only get combos occasionally when the timing is right.
I find it rather difficult to coordinate attacks with party members in GW2. People has to rely on 3rd party voice chat program to communicate. However, for people who prefers a quiet gaming environment, that is quite an annoyance. There are also times when everyone tries to talk at the same time, you message got lost in the noise.
That’s where the macro system comes in. In FFXI, players can create multi-line macros, and they’re assigned to ctrl + 1-0 and alt + 1-0. The macros can launch attack, print party message, print cool down countdown or various player stats, etc. Players can easily coordinate attack based on party message printed by other player’s macro. Just like GW2, FFXI also have combo attacks between characters. Since various skills have different cool down time, players use the macros to notify everyone else when to anticipate a combo starter.
For example, player 1 can create a macro that starts a skill and prints “Combo field: fire started, cool down 30secs”, and continue to print cool down time every 10 secs, player 2 will start whatever combo finisher using macro “Combo finisher: Skill x, cool down 45 secs”, and continue to print cool down every 10 secs. Since player 1’s combo field will cool faster than player 2’s, it’s hard to keep track of time to launch another combo field. But if everyone prints what they’re doing and when they can combo again, people can coordinate combo attacks for massive damage.
And of course, someone is gonna exploit this system for bottings right? Yes, in FFXI, gold sellers are using this to repeatedly print ads messages. But then even with the lack of such feature, people figured out how to do that in GW2 already. Besides I don’t think we need to copy every feature that FFXI macros have. I think it would be a massive improvement if each skill button would allow us inserting multiline party messages and print cool down time automatically.

Something to think about~ thx for reading
Server : Darkhaven
Dungeon : Twilight Arbor (story mode)
Problem: Started out with group of 5. Right before the end boss, one player got disconnected. He never came back online so one of us went out to Lion’s Arch to find a replacement. When they attempted to enter the instance they got put into a different instance. We suspect the person who got disconnected in the first place is the group leader, thinking we can re-group inside the dungeon and re-invite the 2 members outside of our instance, turned out the moment you leave party, you get kicked out of the dungeon. :S 90 minute wasted
I think the sylvari armors are pretty. My main is a sylvari ranger. When I started the game I was disappointed by the lack of sylvari look in armor selection. However I managed to find something I think looks ok. I’ve been shooting for the tier 3 cultural since lvl 1, but at 100G+ thats a long term goal.
I settled for the tier 2 when I was around lvl 65 because I got tired of the trench coat look. With some color tweak it looks much better than the default color. Tier 1 medium set is still ugly. It sucks that the best looking sylvari light and heavy set are tier 1 and 2, but for medium it’s tier 3 :S. I guess it makes sense if you wanna look like Caithe…
Currently I have cultural tier 3 coat + tier 2 other parts and she looks awesome! The leaves on my coat glow in the dark and it’s a very cool design. Still working my way to full tier 3 set and I’m getting close to it~
Kudos to whoever designed the tier 3 medium armor / Caithe!
