I just realized that :S I want my watchknight back~~~
I just realized that mine is gone as well!! I have it stored in the collection but it’s nowhere to be found now… Gimme back my watchknight~!!
Exactly my thought. Same thing can be said to a lot of jumping puzzles. Camera bouncing off environment makes the game difficult, not the game design itself being challenging. That is simply “cheap tactics”
I understand what OP is saying. I play a ranger and I feel it’s lacking in the visual aspect when I do pet swap. I want my game to be immersive and I rather have a stronger pet and no pet swap in middle of combat.
However, there are all kinds of things breaking immersion in GW2 that I think should have higher priority in their fix list. Jumping puzzles where what you see don’t match the collision object, invisible objects (bounding box) in the world, characters culled when 10 feet away from you, walls that you can walk right through (some jumping puzzles have that), etc. On top of that, the poor use of graphics card power is limiting what more they can put on screen. I want a graphics engine overhaul before them adding more effects to slow it down. (and I doubt it’s gonna happen….)
So yeah, one can only wish GW2 provides an immersive experience like those big budget AAA action titles. :S
I only use double tap. It makes more sense to me. I guess because I played too much fighting games. :P
Yeah I don’t know how Anet mess this up but the unbreakable choir bell has the same delay issue. Strange enough the choir bell in the choir events have no problem at all….
I got the quaggan mini pets and I absolutely love them XD Thx Anet for putting them out~
However, I don’t understand why can’t Anet make mini pets run as fast as their owners. The minis always fall behind and constantly doing “teleport” back to the owner’s location. It kinda breaks immersion.
Similar issue with ranger’s pets. When we’re out of combat, the pets should run at the same speed as the owner, unless they got command to attack a target. Right now the cats are running faster than my ranger. They constantly run a few steps ahead, and suddenly turn around, run back to me, and then turn forward again. That totally breaks immersion.
Massive lag and disconnection during Jormag

A lot of people has been experiencing massive lag spike and disconnection in middle of Claw of Jormag boss fight. It starts happening for me yesterday. I don’t have any other apps or device using this network and dsl speed test shows connection is clean and fast. Is Anet aware of any server issue? I’m playing on Darkhaven.
The 2 things I don’t like about the jumping puzzle
a) overhead rock / tunnel blocking camera.
b) platform collision boxes do not represent actual shapes you see.
I hate b more than a. A lot of the platforms are modeled and spaced in a way that you can barely make that jump, but visually the platform are either much smaller / larger than what the collision boxes are, causing u to miscalculate and fail that jump. For example, in Malchor’s leap, north of Cathedral of Eternal Radiance there is a vista on a little peninsula. Occasionally an ori node spawn there and you have to jump to a certain platform to get it. The last jump is a pointy rock which is very difficult to get to. Visually the character shouldn’t be able to make that jump but somehow the character will just “snap into position” when you got it right, as if it was an exploit in some 80s 8bit video games.
I checked that too. I made sure I don’t have any aspect skills on me. It happens even when I first entered the labyrinthine cliff zone. Also it doesn’t explain why the same problem happens in fractals occasionally.
Whenever my lvl 80 ele enters labyrinthine cliff, skills 7-9 are locked and cannot be changed, until I log out or change character. They are not in cooldown period and whatever skills currently assigned are still functional, just cannot be changed to other skills. I don’t know if it’s specific to this character / class and I wonder if anyone had experienced it.
When the Bazaar first came out I didn’t have this problem. It started to happen since the last patch, and it seems to happen every time I enter that map. It also has happened to me in some fractals, such as urban battleground and cliffside fractal.
Absolutely agree with this. The game is not even trying to render everything on screen either. The culling of characters in PVE is actually breaking immersion. Town looks deserted. Imagine how much more epic the Claws of Jormag battle would be if you can actually see everyone fighting him.
FFXI is a very old game and they have huge population back then. They don’t have this much culling issue and their world looks much more lively simply because you see more people around you.
+1 on this one. Too many times I died trying to open inventory and look for food in the middle of fractal boss battle.
The trading post item filter for food is not working at all. When you set it to show food only it doesn’t show any food item.
Agreed on this one. If they’re not nerfing it, at least make other parts of the game more rewarding (other dungeons or world bosses) so people are not forced into grinding in one tiny part of the world.
Its also unfair to people who doesn’t have the “right class” for those CoF speedruns. Some sort of balance is overdue.
I can live with the ele cantrip nerf, but not the ranger pet nerf. Absolutely unnecessary. The burst I had before weren’t good enough to keep up with other classes already. Now I have absolutely no chance.
When I was lvling my ele, I find it much easier to use the conjured weapon build, and spam the lightning hammer. Once I get close to 70, I started practicing D/D, and thats where the real fun begins
I use a logitech G600 mouse as well. I cannot imagine playing ele without this mouse.
I don’t know if it’s because of the game update last nite or because I got a new sound card, but I can’t hear any footsteps in the game anymore.
I’ve been using on board sound which has a Realtek ALC889 chip which sounds fine. I upgraded to a Creative Sound Blaster Zx. It sounds amazing except I can’t hear my footsteps anymore. Since I did that when the update happened I can’t tell which one is the culprit. :S
No bacon? Because rangers charmed all the juvenile pigs, took them to dungeons and they all died in there. :P
I think they should provide a “shortcut” once a very complex recipe is discovered so that u don’t have to craft all the intermediate items one by one to get the final product. For example, the Curry Butternut Squash Soup, instead of having to craft the stock, stirfry mix, curry paste……(list goes on) before you can craft the soup, just list all the required base ingredients in the final recipe and craft it in one go.
In my experience most ppl in wvw are just playing as a pver. A well organized 5-men team can have most boons covered for at least 50% of time, they east 10 men unorganized zerg as a piece of cake and won 90% time against even 15-20 ppl with a just little strategy.
As a ranger, no matter how good your build/gears is and how well you played, your damage is still a joke (compared with some other classes). However, if you go fully support+healing, you can make your team harder than rocks, and also you get not bad 1v1 ability in case some kitten happens. I think that might be the real definition Anet want to give to ranger. You might not be a shining killing star (in fact no matter how hard you play you will never be), but you are irreplaceable in a good team.Blizzard has already proven that players want to be great and they do not want to make others great instead of them. Blizzard designers -some time ago- decided to make a build called Shadow Priest that made others great in group play but had the Priest kind of gimped -they buffed other people damage and regenerated resources for others. The player base was furious, they absolutely hated that and Blizzard changed it and never went back to that idea again….
Players want to be great themselves!
That is the truth, because making your group great does not earn you more medals (not as much as the DPS). That is the flaw in the game design itself.
This happened to me too many times. I’m starting to suspect it’s the DR decided that I mined too much > .> However, it’s not like I mined 3 hrs straight for many stacks of mithril ores. Most of the time it happens before I get one full stack of mithril.
I would love to have this dual / multi specs function. I find myself switching between my combat / MF gear quite often and it’s tiring to switch 10+ equipments manually. It shouldn’t break the game as long as it functions like the town cloths switch (no switching when u’re in combat)
Opened 3 bags and they all dropped greens only. I thought they changed it to drop rares? or is it random?
I’m wearing the full T3 set and I tried removing the dye to make it have the default preview color. However it always goes back to the last dye that I applied. So in short the answer is you have to buy the dyes to match the preview.
That is actually a cool idea. Home instance is utterly useless at this point.
FYI, there is an underwater organ that you can play for free in Caledon forest. Its in one of the Quaggan town.
Go solo a Nightmare court knight in TA then u’ll know how strong they are. ;D
I got my unbreakable 3 days ago, after days of continuous grind in bell choir and opening almost 1500 gifts… I consider myself lucky. Now I can finally play Ode to Joy outside of the mini game
I wish the bell is given to me because I excelled my skills in the bell choir. Some of you speak of the prestige of the bell, but what exactly is that prestige? The prestige of able to spend 50G on it? Have you ever heard of any orchestra in the world conducted by someone who paid them good money to be their conductor? That idea is simply absurd. You want to have the prestige, earn it with skill, not buy it with money. Because of the RNG implementation, this bell does not come with that prestige anymore. People wouldn’t know whether it was bought for 50G or a proof of my skill. Legendary weapons have the same problem, since it can be bought off TP. You’ll never know whether the guy wielding it really earned it or he just bought it with 1900G of gold he grinded by flipping items on TP / botting.
I still support the idea that Anet should instead give people who are skilled in the game to have a better chance at acquiring the unbreakable bell. In the open world, I have not hear one person besides myself who can actually play music with the bell. All of them are just ringing random nodes. However, I won’t mind hearing skillful people playing it left and right.
Yeah the lag is a bit annoying. I’m also disappointed that it doesn’t allow multiple keys pressed simultaneously. My Ode to Joy sounds so much better in bell choir freestyle because of the tonal harmony.
Interesting, I just realized I got this achievement. I’m sure you can get it from DE grind. Pretty sure thats how I got mine.
I’ve been practicing Beethoven’s Ode to Joy in bell choir mini game, to a point that I can press multiple keys simultaneously to create tonal harmony. It sounds so much better than the single key version. I tried to do the same using the unbreakable bell, it only allow one key pressed at a time. I’m just wondering if Anet is aware of it? Please make it perform the same way as the mini game so I enjoy the same function as the mini game
(edited by Xolosheep.1649)
I would love to have the unbreakable bell in gem store too. I would spend 20 bucks of gems just so I can perform Beethoven’s Symphony 9 in Lions Arch. :S
The bell choir is the best mini game of all time. Too bad it’s gonna go away after the holidays and the chance of getting one of those unbreakable bell is razor slim.
I don’t understand why Anet didn’t design the reward in a way that for people who consistently did well in the bell choirs will build up a higher chance of getting the reward. That’s in line with the idea that the skillful ones are being rewarded instead of pure RNG.
I’ve been playing playing bell choirs every hour I logged in, to a point I can consistently score 590-600, and figured out how to perform Symphony 9 – 4th movement. Yet after many hundreds of gift boxes there is no bell, and my skill is not giving me any advantage in the loot chance.
Please Anet, please consider putting the bell up in gem store~
Strange enough, I took my alt into HotM, then change character to the one that was stuck, and it fixed it :S
Right before the patch, I was in heart of the mists. I logged out, patched the game, and try to get back in there. Now it’s stuck at the HotM loading screen. Restarted 3 times already. There is no hard drive activity. Seems like other people have similar problem with that characters stuck in other zones?
I tried my alt characters and they seem to be fine. It was the character I’m using before the patch that is stuck.
Downscale more? Then whats the point of getting better gear?
In this game, the point of getting better gear is to survive tougher challenges as your level increases and thus gain access to more areas of the game to play in. It is not so you can more easily lay waste to the opponents that are lower level than you. Games like World of Warcraft may be more in line with your expectations if you were hoping for the latter.
I thought we were all aware that GW2 was supposed to depend more on skill than gear, but I guess that memo didn’t get out everywhere.
A level 5 character fighting level 5 content has to work hard to earn rewards appropriate for his true level. That’s the concept of risk versus reward at work. And the whole reason you, as a level 80, can go back to a level 5 encounter and earn rewards appropriate for your true level is because (in theory) down-scaling maintains the precious balance of risk versus reward. In reality, that balance looks very much out of whack when you’re both earning rewards appropriate for your level, but the level 5 characters fights for his life to do so and his scaled down level 80 companion is two-shotting those same opponents.
To suggest that’s fine is ridiculous.
I’m not aware of any other RPGs, be it mmo or not, or even any action game that has a character progression system, have a downscale system that work so well, that the beginning lvl mob would give a max lvl player a hard time killing them. In fact, in most of the other games, (at least the one I played) will let me kill them faster than wat GW2 does.
Like I said, if you didn’t grind for xp at lower lvl, but instead u go explore those area to lvl up, u wouldn’t have much reason to go back to explore lvl 1-15 maps when u maxed lvl, then u wouldn’t feel a bunch of contents got left out because they’re too easy. I did that with my elementalist and it was a fun experience.
Also, as some people pointed out already, if you really love the challenge, go get some gears that are lower lvl than the area you’re exploring. The option is there, you just didn’t use it.
I’m not saying I don’t like the idea that mob in low lvl area shouldn’t give u a hard time when u maxed lvl, but I have not seen one mmo that effectively solved this problem without making u feel ur gear / lvl stats are not helping you at all. Players want to feel powerful, that’s what most of the players want. That’s how people perceive progress.
Downscale more? Then whats the point of getting better gear? Thats basically saying we should all hit a plateau when you out level a zone. It will not get any easier regardless of what gear you’re using. That completely kills the reason why people want better stats as they progress in the game.
I think they did a pretty good job at preventing anyone maxed lvl to do 3 hit kill a champion in a lvl 1-15 zone. Besides, if you weren’t grinding the game when you’re low lvl and gain most of ur xp from exploration, u should’ve explored most of the low lvl area already. I believe thats how Anet intended the game to be played.
Yeah, I would love to have larger party size too. In FFXI, you can form alliance, which is 2x or 3x parties get together to form a max 18 (3 × 6) player party. Maybe we can have new dungeons or difficulty lvl that require that many people to tackle?
“Effect will only activate during combat. "
Meaning if there is nothing attacking you, u’re not in combat, then the blast will not activate.
Are you guys testing this on dummies or foes?
My first character is also a ranger. I picked ranger as my first character due to my obsession with bows. I took her to lvl 80, gave her full set of exotics and T3 cultural. I was dedicated. I know people complains about ranger being under power and stuff. I didn’t understand why…
Until I made an ele myself. My gawd~ ele is nasty! The early levels can be tough. I wanted to use staff in pve all the time, but there are missions in personal stories very difficult to clear with staff. D/D helped me go through those fairly easily. Then I discovered the lightning hammer build by accident. I’d been using that until level 65. Last nite I finally decided to try the D/D again with proper traits. Holy cow~ what a difference~!! I don’t see how I can die in this build! (unless I fall asleep at keyboard)
Now looking at my ranger, I really don’t know what she’s good at anymore. She has high crit chance and fairly high power. But she can’t burst down foes like ele does because the pets are not doing their job half the time. Compare to the ranger, the D/D ele is more evasive, more powerful and tanky (due to healing / evasion options) at the same time.
11 lvls til 80~ can’t wait~!!
Lightning hammer skill 1, on third hit, it blinds all targets around u in melee range. Technically you can continue to apply blindness to all targets immediately around u and take no / little damage.
This is one of the most annoying bug I have. Do other characters / pets supposed to obstruct arrows or not? Because I see a lot more obstructed arrows when people are zerging, for example, the champion abomination. Rapid fire and almost half of the arrows would be obstructed. The target isn’t half embedded in the wall or behind vegetation / rocks. :S
Totally agree. This system is flawed. There are a couple times the game disconnects itself from the server in the middle of the cutscene right before the reward is given. I’m so glad that I wasn’t the leader of that run. That wouldn’t be fun for any of us if the connection dropped on just the leader and ruined it for the whole party. :S
Do we really need to lump the bots and ethnicity together in these discussion? I’m Asian and I find it quite offensive as there is no proof that all / majority of the bots are Asian / Chinese / Korean / Filipino. Bots are bots. Please stop making it sound like we’re the only group in the world that will break any rules for profits.
The armor is meant to be earned by slowly saving toward it. I’m sure that’s the developer’s intention. You don’t have to grind, play the game as it is. Deposit 1G to ur bank per day. 119 days later, u have the full set. that’s about 4 months. Even if u don’t play everyday or can’t hit 1G everyday, earning it within a year is still very reasonable.
1G is not difficult to come by at all, assuming u play normally and collect ores / logs when u come across them. If items are so easily earned, then what is there to motivate people to keep playing the game?
It’s been a month… still not fixed… > .>
(edited by Xolosheep.1649)
I’ve been seeing candy corn popping in and out even before this update. Also ore icons popping in and out on the map.
I just bought one of these and put it on my shoulder armor. It’s showing (7/6) equipped. :S

He got a Quadro 2000. Peformance wise, according to PassMark software benchmark, the closest GeForce equivalent of the current generation would be GT 640. GTX 650ti is almost 2x as fast as this Quadro model.
Is there a reason why you have to use Quadro in ur rig? I’m a professional 3D artist too and I use a GTX 670 4GB for Maya / Modo / Mari at home with multiple monitor setup. Never have any problem. The price / performance ratio of the Geforce card is much better than the Quadros, unless there is certain critical bug preventing you from using Geforce in these graphics software. But from my experience, my hardware display in these software on my home computer is much faster than the Quadro 4000 equipped stations at work.
I would suggest changing to one of the newer Geforce if your budget allows. I wouldn’t recommend using Radeon as a replacement because their OpenGL support is not as good as Nvidia’s. (Not trying to troll AMD / ATI, but I used to own a Radeon and it broke my Maya display until an individual driver engineer emailed me a beta driver that is not publicly released.)

I’m amazed that this game does not have GMs at all. Coming from other MMO such as EQ, FFXI, etc, they all have GMs and they respond fairly quickly to people who summons them.
I would love to see GMs in this game. They can regularly patrol those bot farming area and that should be fairly effective.
