How are you doing this. I thought that when you went into WvWvW you were all evened out for gear and such. And that when you do WvWvW the only difference in gear is cosmetic…

Is this wrong?

Well no my logic is sound… Here is why…

1. The no grind was meant for levels only… As seen here.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bKtGxVj3msM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

2. This whole “reward now” system really started with Wrath of The Lich King, By the whole implementation of the “Welfare Epics”. You could just go and grind out tokens and get gear from tokens with out really doing much int he way of Content. Then Cata came and then really took off. Since cata everyone can do Dragon soul. Which is good and bad at the same time.

Guild Wars 2 from the beginning has said they want to pull away from where MMO’s are now. They wanted to make something that is not really prevalent. IMO they wanted to make the game more like WoW vanilla, In spirit not letter. IN WoW vanilla. There were people running around in Teir2 who did BWL and such and people were like “man that is COOL!” that kind of gearing took for ever. It was hard it was tedious it took hours upon hours. Many did not follow in step to get said achievements because the time it took was not worth it to them. The percent of people who actually had these items was pretty small.

Now GW2 comes along and says we need to be different then where MMO’s are now, they see that there is a trend to farm out tokens and easily get gear. They are going to nerf it because they do not want to be like the current trend of other games. To not know this or understand it, is poor research and knowledge of the game the player bought.

3. If you are whining and crying about the farming in this game it is rude, dis-respectful and just plain ignorant to blame Anet for cracking down on it. Anet did not do the farming or set that up. The bots and the farmers did. That is why they cracked down it. Bots where farming the crap out stuff.

Whining about it, is like whining about how gun laws have shaped our society in terms of self defense. A lot of the laws we have now a days severely limit your right to own and carry a firearm and your ability to defend yourself. Do you blame the law makers for making crack head laws… NO it is response to bad people doing evil and bad things. Blaming the law makers is like blaming the messengers.

It is not Anet’s fault, it is the bots and bad farmers. Help Anet by reporting and black listing bots and farmers. that will make them stop. Kittening at Anet won’t.

That is why it is carebears and whinners… They just scream kick and whine instead of helping a company fix the issue by not being apart of the problem.

You can be the kid in the stroller who is screaming your head and everybody is watching and laughing at you, or you can be the kid that helps mommy and daddy out by not embarrassing them and making shopping that much easier. The choice is yours.

Carebear

Back in the day, Carebear referred to a person or a game mechanic which eliminated or reduced all risk and challenge and realism from the game.

These days people throw the term carebear around to mean ANYTHING derotagory. Want to craft? You’re a carebear! Don’t want to play an mmorpg like a first person shooter? You’re a carebear! Don’t like to play the game like I play the game? You’re a carebear!

The term carebear has become mangled and meaningless. But it used to mean something important to hardcore gamers.

Examples of the ORIGINAL term are:
No full loot was “carebear”
Safe zones were “carebear”
Limits on who you can attack and where you can attack them were “carebear.”
Limits on freedom in general were “carebear.”
Instances were “carebear.”

Carebears were people who wanted devs to develop/change games to make their gaming experience easy, safe, and cozy. No risk, no challenge, no realism. Cozy like a carebear.

SOOOOOO the OP is a Carebear because they made it harder and longer to get Items. They are a carebear because the dev’s introduced challenge and time to get items. The way it was before was easy, No risk, no challenge.

Now while still easy, it is hard then it was. And they are whining about it. They want it back to the easy and no challenge. Thus… Carebear.

Or in this case, Reverse Carebear…. Oh… I like that.

QUICK! Get a jar!

Catch the tears of the weak. They are the tears of the carebears. A loud whining animal. They seem to have evaded “survival of the fittest” but we shall bottle their tears and discover their weakness.

I would like suggest a LFG tool. HOWEVER I would like Global names to be involved. like we already have for Cross Server friends and guilds. This way we can pick and choose who we want or do not want to play with. This will help gather a larger community and encourage alliances. It would also be good to, for the purposes of parties, to be able to party with guilds and friends from other servers for dungeons and PVP; while still maintaining a Global name base.

Because we are not pokemans… but that would be kittens cool! OR better yet being able to choose which attunments we get!

It seems to me you are saying the only way you can ever have fun playing a game is if your character “progresses” but you are missing a lot of different types and definitions of “progression”. GW2 wants to keep everyone on a pretty much equal playing field, so it makes absolutely no since to have better gear and all that. Instead, progression is mostly visual and you can chase after any set you want regardless of if its the best. I think the problem is that you are defining progression to rigidly. Then comes in that its how we’ve all been taught to play mmo’s that once you hit level cap, you keep pushing up that gearscore or whatever, but not every game in existence has to play like that for it to feel fun or have progression. In GW2, a game so much about skill, a lot of the character “progression” comes from you getting better and better with your class.

Glad to see someone got what sort of respond I was after.
Youre right, becoming better at your class is a reward that can be overlooked, unlike gear it doesn’t get out dated and can be improved upon indefinitely.

So you were only willing to hear one kind of post? then you should not be posting on a public forum.

To me it sounds like the OP is not really playing the game but jsut whining to whine and stir the pot or has not done everything like he claims. he is not answering my question about explorer modes.

Are you referring to the outrageously difficult dungeons (due to no tank, healer concept, or any actual long duration CCs) that you run to die over and over again to finally down a boss to get nothing?
Yeah I tried that a few times.

There are no hard dungeons just dumb players. there are to many players who go for the glass cannon OMG DPS and no support. I say to those people who think the dungeons are hard, L2P.

So I guess its my own fault for expecting anything other than going around in different zones and just trying to explore (with out a mount) and for no particular reason, maybe an achievement?
…not that the hype and all the advertisement had anything to do with it.

I’ll go play an alt for the sake of a different story line, where I got somewhat entertained while leveling my main.

That will be far from getting my money’s worth though. Oh well.

Have you done the explorer modes?

It’s funny when ppl assume that I’m in the “Oh noes!!!111” camp. I’m just frustrated with the fact that things are broken more than they’re working. I have a wife, three kids, and a granddaughter, so no, I don’t think this is the end of the world. This game could get swallowed up in a black hole tomorrow and I’d be fine.

However, I do think that it’s prettykitten poor how aspects of this game have been completely broken for as long as they have. It’s pretty disappointing because GW was so solid for as long as I played it. GW2…not so much.

Some one never played wow… A few days of the TP not working is nothing compared to the server stability issues wow had… These are nice easy issues…

for being someone who has married and has three kids and such(which means jack), your reaction is very short sighted…

Also might be a fan boy…

Please teach your three kids, and your granddaughter worry and troll about important things…

Proud to be a fanboi of a great and wonderful game with a few minor flaws!

I think the latest maintenance on the Trading Post has just about killed GW2 for me. I have a full inventory and a full bank. I can’t sell on the Trading Post and I can’t expand either my inventory or my bank because the Trading Post is down for maintenance (again).

Inventory management is important, but come on…

You could vender Items? salvage them? It is not the end of the world… Man some people! so self entitled!

The problem is, for any AI, it’s predictable.
You can randomize it all you want, but it comes down to repetition.

GW2, Dark Souls, Touhou, every game follows this.

People don’t use AI, they can change up whatever they’redoing on the fly.

It might be predictable but it will still kick your booty! Try to do frozen maw by your self… I dare you. Totally predictable…

I feel that Toughness is still better. Though you should not need vit or tough at all because if you don’t get hit then you take no damage. Thus no vit or tough. With proper build and dodging you should take no damage at all. I know that it cant be perfect but that is the theory and how Anet designed this game.

How GW2 IS becoming a "Grind" -MY thoughts.

Posted by: dchsknight.3042

dchsknight.3042

Friends, this game IS NOT A GRIND.

there is not much of a reason to grind, its marginal and you only do it if you want to.

endgame is simply about PvP, seeing new region an gathering mats, doing events here and there, a dungeon when you feel the time is right and can gather a good party.

and wait for new content.

you have to realize that the average player is about lvl 30 at max right? with 30-40h played in 3 weeks, which is a lot already.

you can eat up all the content, but then, yeah, the game is about pvp, or grind or a new toon. its your choice.
be grateful they dont give you the illusion of progress by rerunning the same
area over and over.
the are good enough to let you be free.
which is AWESOME.
