Rune of Pack or Rune of Strength?

As far as I know, Rune of Hoelbrak is the cheaper alternative of the Rune of Strength.

I like Rune of the Pact and in fact I use them on all my 4 characters, I’d say it’s a decent damage modifier, not as good as Strength but for the price it’s worth it imo.

Rune of Pack or Rune of Strength?

Hi all!

So i want to start playing warrior in Dungeons, and i found this Might stacking build which seems to work well (Dontain’s Pillar of Might). However, in his video he uses Runes of Strength, which are pretty expensive. So i went to Google, and found out that some people like to use Rune of Pack as an alternative, which i have been running for a while now. I thought that i would use Pack until i had money to buy Strength, and over the last couple of days, i bought them, one at a time. However, now that i have them i’m a bit reluctant to actually use them, as it’s almost 100g i’m sitting with here.

So i could use some help! Do you think Runes of Pack is a good alternative? They do give 125 Precision in the 6th tier, which is something.

Rune of Pack:
(1): +25 Power
(2): +10% Swiftness Duration
(3): +50 Power
(4): 25% chance when struck to grant nearby allies Might, Fury, and Swiftness for 10s. (Cooldown: 20s)
(5): +100 Power
(6): +20% Swiftness Duration; +125 Precision

Rune of Strength:
(1): +25 Power
(2): +10% Might Duration
(3): +50 Power
(4): +15% Might.png might duration; 25% chance when struck to gain might for 10 seconds. (Cooldown: 5s)
(5): +100 Power
(6): +20% might duration; +7% damage while under the effects of might.

TL;DR: Would you say Rune of Pack is a worthy alternative to Rune of Strength?

So you were the one who made the cinematic pan over the camp and the destroyed tower, right after the final cutscene? I must say, that i loved that part! It really reminded me of the cutscenes back in Guild Wars 1! I’d love to see more of those!

Thank you for all the hard work you put into the game! I’m really looking forward to seeing the last couple of patches in the season, and what you come up with for Season 2! You’ve really improved over the year, and it’s been a really fun experience to watch the patches get better and better, every time!

I also want to chime in and say that I really liked a lot of what you guys did with this release. The puzzle was an awesome change of pace and it was actually fun figuring out the solutions, even if they were pretty simple. And a small touch, I liked that you guys did that panning cinematic around Marjory, Kasmeer, AND our characters when you first talk to Marjory. It was a small thing, but it was inclusive to us, which is something I’ve felt the living story (and even the personal story) hasn’t been. Usually I feel like I’m just along for the ride, and the story hardly acknowledges our contributions. This release, steps were definitely taken in the right direction to rectify that (although there’s still a ways to go). The cutscene at the end of the tower exploding was also, as everyone has already noted, completely awesome. Easily the best cutscene you guys have produced.

And finally, I wanted to mention that you guys did a great job with the dialogue, both ambient and direct interaction, at the camp in Kessex. I spent a good 30 minutes just hanging around there listening to the ambient dialogue and exploring all the conversations. I particularly liked how some conversations you could have would affect others. For example, when I first talked to one of the characters, she asked me if I had heard anything about the fate of a particular skritt inside the tower. The exit dialogue option was “I’ll ask around,” and I specifically thought to myself “Yeah, not like it’ll affect anything.” But I was wrong. Another character did know the fate of that skritt, and I was able to go back to relay that information to the original character. It might not have affected anything (although in the future it would be amazing if this kind of dialogue interaction carried over between releases) but it made everything feel more substantial and fleshed out.

This release has given me a bit more hope for the living story model. Good work guys, I hope we continue to see improvements like those I mentioned.

I was very pleased with how the puzzles eventually turned out. They started off being quite complicated and even esoteric, but as I was implementing them I really began to see the flaw in that design. Namely, that someone coming into the game during this release, who hadn’t played the previous releases would have NO idea or context for some of the solutions. So although you can still see the skeleton of the plans I laid out for those puzzles, in the end I erred on the side of making them as accessible as possible, so they’re simple, but hopefully capture the flavor of those prior releases.

The camera pan including the player character was most certainly a deliberate decision, and will be something that, at the very least, I will continue to advocate for. But I had a lot of fun creating some of the in-game camera sequences during this release, so I hope to be able to do more cinematics in a hands-on fashion.

All of those conversations and scenes in the post-release camp were done entirely by our writing team this time around. A couple of us on the content design side were able to sit down with them and actually teach them how to do basic spawning and scripting, and with that base of knowledge they were able to populate the camp with all those interesting characters, which I think of as a huge win for the studio. It’s not that we’ve not had the capability in the past, it’s just that those kind of things usually end up low on the list of priorities for those of us who do the bulk of the content authoring, because although it’s really not hard to do, it’s also usually not that intense in terms of setup and scripting. When you are faced with the decision to fix a half dozen Pri.1 and Pri2 bugs or implement an NPC with conversation, the former will always take priority. So I would like to think that this is just the tip of the iceberg and that the bar will continue to be raised on content like this.

How Legendaries Should Have Been

When I look into what it takes to get a Legendary, it seems like it’s simply not designed for players like me in mind.

The thing is.. They’re not made for players like you. They’re made for the hardcore players, who play 10+ hours a day, and need something big, time consuming and cool to work towards. When i was about to quit the game because i couldn’t find anything to do, and i needed a goal, i turned to Legendaries. When i get my precursor, and finish Incinerator, i’ll most likely start working on another one, just to keep me busy. The only things about the Legendary crafting that needs to be redone is Precursors and Mysic Clovers. Everything else works fine, and takes time, which is what some players want.

Phoenix Finisher

Yeah, it’s so cool The thing is though. Nobody knows what the dragon finisher looks like, because nobody has reached Rank 80 in PvP yet. Which i think is really cool!

About the PvP finishers in WvW. I think the reason they’ve not done this is because of lag. WvW is incredibly laggy as is, and with everyone using their PvP finishers on top of what’s currently there, would just make it worse. I wish it was added for yourself to see though :/

The thing is, none of the stuff you mentioned you HAVE to do to be able to do the high end stuff. tequatl? Nope, he only has a shortcut to ascended weapons with unique skins. Ascended weapons? They’re not that much better than exotic. All this is for the hardcore players who has been complaining about the lack of hard and difficult content in the game. Guild Wars 2 is trying to be a game for everyone. 10 months ago when someone complained about the lack of hardcore content, they got the response “Then this game is not for you”, however now this game IS for them too! Or at least it’s going to be when they add more difficult content, which they are. And it shouldn’t be any other way. The ascended gear and the tequatl fight is just not made for you.

When do you obtain Pristine Fractal relics?

The daily chest you get for killing the Jade Maw is the only source of pristine relics. The daily chests are organised by tier, with 1-9 being one tier, 10-19, 20-29 and so on, so if your personal reward level is 40, you can get 4 pristines a day.

When do you obtain Pristine Fractal relics?

Hi all!

I just recently started doing Fractals, and by now , I’ve reached reward level 4. So I’ve been wondering when during the Fractal run i get Pristine Fractal Relics? I know you start earning them at level 10, but is it after each individual Fractal, or is it at the end of the Fractal “collection/run”? And is there a cap of how many you can earn per day?

Can i delete the Crystals?

I just completed Scarlet’s Playhouse, and i’m wondering if i can delete the 4 Crystals (Focusing Crystal, Translocator Beacon and Oscillating Diaphragm, Positional Relay Beacon) i have in my bag from the Living Story? If i do, will i still be able to enter the playhouse? They’re taking up my precious bag space

I need a Light armor set for my Charr

Ascalon Catacombs armor isnt that “cloak-y” u can give it a try.
Armagedon ones are also not bad, those u can purchase at cursed shores

Edit – mostly the “cloak-y" looks are the leggings, the chest piece dun really affect much. You might just need to look for the right pair of leggings. I know Ascalon and profane dun have it.

I need a Light armor set for my Charr

I hav 3 charrs on light armor. Hard part is finding armor that suits though, spending hours on end at PvP closet to look for the right one.

There are some sets I could recommend,

Ascalonian Catacomb and Caudecus’s Manor armors have a rather noble look to them.
Citadel of Flame armor, can’t go wrong with Charrs honestly.
Stately armor, suits the tail nicely
Feathered armor(my second charr), suits the tail nicely
Named armors (my last charr), a nice look overall
Priory and Vigil armors have a nice look, small shoulders as well
Charr cultural armor T1 is my personal favorite, T3 chest piece is nice as well.

The thing is that i don’t really like the “cloak-y” types of armor on Charr. They don’t fit well with the humpbacks Charrs have. Currently i have the CoF armor, which i really don’t think fits a charr.. That is why i have problems finding the armor set

Oh yeah.. I remember that. I actually deleted it when i got it :P It would be cool to have them available in the unlocked rewards tab under achievements too

You could just stick your boosters/fortune scraps/badges of honor onto bank characters.

Well, i’m that kind of person who likes to have a purpose to all of my alts, which means it would take up precious bag space. And i like it to be easily accessible from any of my characters. I still think Zephyr Sanctum should have been a collectible from the beginning.

Hi all!

So at the first day of the patch, i managed to get the Zephyr Sanctum Model, which i put in my bank. However, now with all the Badges of Honors and Fortune scraps i collect, i don’t have much space left. So my suggestion is to make the Zephyr Sanctum Model a collectible. Allow it to be deposited into the “Mini Pets (Special)” section of the collectibles tab. This would allow us to take it out and use it in the future. Otherwise, i’m probably going to delete it after the event is over…

EDIT: Another way to do this could be making items like this available in the Unlocked Rewards pane under achievements. This would not only save our bank space, but also if you delete it by mistake, like i did with the book from Dragon Bash, you could get it back!

PvP Achievement rewards soulbound?

Hi all!

I just opened one of the PvP Achievement reward chests, and noticed that all of the contents was soulbound. This means that the greatsword i got, which i’d like to use for my Warrior, is useless, because i opened it on my Thief. I would like to think this is a bug, so i’m posting here.

Hi all!

I really love the new Achievement layout, and the Nearly completed list is super useful! However, as i have almost completed Aetherblade Assasin, it is listed there. That means it will be sitting there, taking up one of the 3 slots forever, as the Aetherblade mobs has been removed. So my suggestion is to hide all achievements in the Historical tab from Nealy completed. That would make it so achievements from old events won’t be taking up space there!

And BTW, i did try going to the Not so Secret jumping puzzle, but the Aetherblades there doesn’t count…

Zenith Weapon Skins

For now, we only know what we get up until 3000 points. At 1000 points (That chest is rewarded tomorrow) you get a choice between Long bow, Short bow, Staff, Greatsword and Hammer. Then at 2000 (which is rewarded in 3 days) you get the same choice as before, meaning you can choose a second skin. At 3000 you get the choice between the 2 armor skins available. My guess is that at 4000 you get another weapon skin, but as we can’t see further than 3000 it’s only a guess.

I think thats a litte bit stupid. Becous we won’t be able to get the skins on all our alts. I really like all the Zenith Skins but it is impossible for me to get it on all 3 of my professions.

I believe you have infinite amount of the weapons you choose. Say, if you choose greatsword the first time around, you can get a greatsword on any of your characters as many times as you want, but only the greatsword. Then when you reach 2000 you can choose the hammer, and have infinite amount of the hammer skin too. You would never have to choose the same skin twice. I’m pretty sure that is how it works, however as nobody has gotten one yet, i can’t be sure

I was just curious of what happens when the time runs out in a guild bounty, and you are in combat with the last target, will we get rewards if we kill him before his own timer runs out? Or is everything lost when the main timer runs out?

Guild Wars 2 Meta event notifier

This is great! But i find it a bit annoying that i get notifications about the same event every time it updates. I know i just have to untick the checkbox, but i’d like to just have it in the background, and only touch it when i get a notification. And the Fire Elemental and Frozen Maw are missing. Adding those would make it more useful for me, as they’re the ones i do the most! But other than that it’s very useful! Thank you!

Is there any other Sylvary armor?

Hi all!

I am currently looking for the right armor for my Sylvari Necromancer. I like having the evil death look, with dark colors etc. so when the new tentacle back skin was made available, i knew i needed to find a new set. Currently i use the feathered armor set, but i’d like a more Sylvari, leaf like armor set, and currently i only know of the Twilight Arbor and Sylvari cultural armor sets. I don’t really like the Twilight Arbor armor, and the Tier 3 cultural armor are too expensive. The tier 1 and 2 cultural armor sets are not really “Necromancery” enough. So my question is: is there any other sets of Sylvari leafy armor sets, other than the ones i mentioned?

Power, Tough, Vit karma helm vendor

Hi all!

I am currently making a Power, Toughness, Vitality build for my Warrior and the only armor piece i am missing is the helmet. All the other armor is brought from the god temple karma vendors (Except for the Heavy Infused Gloves), but i am still missing the helmet. I’ve been looking at almost all the god temples, except Grenth and Balthazar because they rarely are controlled. The have tried looking at the Guild Wars 2 wiki but as far as i could see, it weren’t accurate. So can anyone tell me where to get the Power, Toughness, Vitality heavy helmet with karma?

I remember back when i first saw the game, one of the things that really drew my attention was the detail in the world, the amazing architecture and the incredible views of waterfalls and terrain. I imagined leveling a character and then just stop and be able to zoom in and take a look at the village in the distance from the top of a hill, and then just sit there and enjoy the view. I imagined spending hours, just walking around the world looking at Divinity’s Reach, Lion’s Arch, and all the other incredible cities and views. When i finally got to play in the first Beta Weekend, the first thing i did after creating my Human Thief was trying to zoom in to go first person and look at the view of Shaemoor.. I can still remember how disappointed i felt at that moment. Such a beautiful view and no ability to watch it in full screen… I thought to myself ”This is just a Beta, they’re gonna add this at some point… They have to”… They didn’t.

Today i was, for the first time in my long time of playing the game, walking around, with my camera position at the furthest right it could go, on my little Asuran Ranger, exploring and looking at the beautiful city of Lion’s Arch. That was the moment i realized how badly this game needs a first person mode.

Earlier this week i actually downloaded the demo version of the original Guild Wars, as i love the GW2 lore and wanted to know more. (I ended up dropping the idea, as the questing gameplay had become old when Guild Wars 2 was released, but that’s another story.) The important thing is that i walked around Ascalon City and Ashford Abbey for a bit in first person mode, and i was amazed by the experience! Even with those simple structures! And then i found this spot in Lakeside County, on the edge of the road, just north of that little village, looking at the view of the village on the right and the amazing waterfalls in the background. THAT was incredible. And again, with those simple structures. Imagine how unbelievable it would look in Guild Wars 2!

At that point i was really curious. Why the heck, if i get a that amazing experience by looking at Guild Wars 1 with first person mode, do we not have that feature in Guild Wars 2! What were ArenaNet thinking!? I started Googling, and i found this old forum thread, back from June 2012, taking about a First Peroson Camera mode in the settings that was obviously later removed. And one of the reply’s said that ”ArenaNet doesn’t want a First Person view because they like us to be intimately familiar with our player’s backside.” What the heck!? THAT can’t be the reason they wasted all those resources creating such a beautiful world, but not allowing the player to fully enjoy it! And if they are afraid that people will play in first person they already have a fix for that in-game: The way the game is played! It would be almost impossible to coordinate in a fight against 5 centaurs, and placing the huge AoE circles in first person. And the ability to look around corners and over walls in 3rd person has huge benefits, so i believe nobody would play the whole game in first person mode!

So please ArenaNet! Change your mind and give us that First Person mode to let us enjoy the incredibly beautiful world you have created!

One thing you might try is my own Boonway build—it offers fairly fast-paced gameplay (permanent swiftness), decent durability, a ton of supportive options, and the ability to “stick” to targets very effectively. It’s weapon-independent, so once you decide what weapons you like, you can stick with them and be effective. It also excels in a number of roles, depending on what gear you pick.

Looking for fun Guardian build

To better reply this we need to know what do YOU consider “fun to play”.
Better yet, explain what in the class gameplay makes you exit the game after 10 minutes.

Pls clarify what you think is good and bad so we can point you in a direction.

Well, i’ve always loved the fast paced combat (my main is a Thief), and i tend to use professions the way other MMO’s would have made them (Mesmer using ranged as they’re scholars, Guardians using melee as they use heavy armor) but that can be altered.

I find the long arm swings the greatsword on a Norn have, quite annoying and i takes a lot from the gameplay, but it’s not neccessary to avoid. I’ll probably have more fun using a build with survivabiliy over plain damage, and i’ve for a long time only used “Selfish” builds, so i’d like to give support a try, but it may not be for me, as i’ve never tried it.

Sorry for not including it in the original post I know a lot of the stuff is very minor, but i’m kind of a perfectionist/graphic addict

Looking for fun Guardian build

Hi all!

I am currently on the goal of reaching lvl 80 on all 8 professions, and i have 2 characters i just can’t continue on, as i find the professions boring. The characters are Guardian, which is the worst, and Engineer. So i decided to go look for a build that is fun to play and will make the experience better. So does any of you have a build for Guardian that doesn’t make me exit the game after 10 minutes? Weapons doesn’t matter, as i haven’t gotten used to any of them yet.

Making Incinerator better looking

Hi all!

Currently i am collecting the last couple of “ingredients” for Incinerator, but as I’ve lately watched a lot of demo videos of it, I’ve become a bit unsure if it’s the weapon i want. My main is a Thief and I’ve always used D/D, so i wouldn’t know what to switch to. But i have one idea that, if added, would definitely make me go for it!

The idea is that when using the Thief skill 2 (Heartseeker), instead of the default blue trail (Example with Incinerator: http://youtu.be/hx3qhzlSGYU?t=3m53s), you should get a orange firery trail matching Incinerator, and the same for skill 3 (Death Blossom). I’ve seen that with auto attack you do get a fire trail, but it’s not very visible either. So adding a more visible firery trail would definitely make at a more used legendary. Not a flame like in the Molten Alliance Fused weapons, but something matching Incinerator.

I know this isn’t something big or important that is necessary for the game to continue, but it’s little effects like this one that made me fall completely in love with the game back 1 year ago

Has the Fractals number been raised?

At even levels of fractal(2,4,6,8,10,etc), there are 4 levels instead of 3.

The 4th fractal is always jade maw.

Hi all!

This morning i decided to go do some fractals, so i found a group and we entered. After the first one, a party member left and we found another one. When i finally completed the third fractal, it started a fourth one. Isn’t the number of Fractals at a time only three? This is the second time this has happened to me in a row. I’ve not been doing Fractals for too long, and not very often either, so it’s about 1½ month ago i did one last (not counting the time before this one), so i was wondering if the amount has been raised in one of the patches? Sorry if it’s a nooby question

It's time to balance PvP apart from PvE/WvW

A couple things:

  • For PvE/PvP/WvW, we know that those are 3 different playstyles, we don’t just lump PvE and WvW together.

Considering WvW and PVE use the same skill values, yes you do.

We’re starting to split PvE/WvW in the upcoming patch.

But we want them to be things that keep consistency across the game types as much as possible.

Exactly how will you split WvW and PvE? Just want to make sure that we can still earn XP from doing WvW

I had pretty much the same experience; up until 50 clovers, the return was fairly predictable, but after that it dropped off severely. I know I exceeded the expected amount of obby shards by quite a lot.
However, with a random number generator, you do have to take variance into account. It may feel like the game’s against you, but chances are, you just got lucky initially.

What’s really kitten me off at the moment is the ludicrous amount of cash I’m wasting throwing hammers into the Mystic Forge. It’s soul destroying. I got so close last night, getting Magmaton instead of The Colossus.

Feel sorry for ya man :/. But yeah, a lot of the legendary process sadly is luck based.. And if they even have a script that makes your luck decrease/increase it makes it a lot tougher. Hopefully when i get to the point where i just need Spark, the scavenger hunt has been added

Hi all!

I just got my 77th Mystic Clover today, and i noticed that in the beginning of my “Farming” i got about 8/10 all the time. Then when i hit about 20-30, the rate i received Clovers fell to 3-4/10, and at 40 it was down at 0-2/10. When i hit the 20th Clover i decided to do it over time, to see it the rates would increase again, which they didn’t.

Now, lately I’ve been low on Skill Points on my main character, so today went to my Warrior and used his Skill Points, and i got 9 Clovers out of the 10 i made, which means i now have all 77! But this just strengthens the theory I’ve had since the beginning, of the rates you get Clovers at, decreases the more you try. I’ve also heard of other people experiencing the same or even the opposite, where they are unlucky in the beginning and get luckier and luckier. I don’t think this is a coincidence as i hear this too often.

So what do you think? Have you experienced the same or something else? I’d love to hear your stories

How do Runes work?

Hi all!

I was just buying some Superior Runes of the trading post to finish my build, and i began wondering how the runes work. I mean if, for example, the Superior Rune of Fighter says:
(1): +25 Power
(2): +15 Toughness
(3): +50 Power
(4): +35 Toughness
(5): +90 Power
Will it give 90 Power and 35 Toughness or are they added up, so it becomes 165 Power and 50 Toughness?

I just completed the “Reunion” of Destiny’s Edge for the 5th time, and every time when Eir Stegalkin says: “I fear this meeting was a mistake, but maybe i can fix it.” i’ve wondered what she meant. I’ve completed the personal story on my main, and on my 2 other characters at 80, i’m almost done, but i haven’t heard anything about Eir’s “Fix”. Can anyone tell me what she wanted to fix and how she wanted to do it?

This seems like what i’m looking for I have 1 question: Can the “Represent at all times” be altered? I have a guild of my own, which is only used for extra bank space, so i would need to stand down from PvX and represent my own, every time i need to acces my additional bank space, and then represent PvX again. Would this get me kicked? I’m very interested in joining your guild, but i need to be able to access my own guild bank from time to time

I just enabled monetising for my channel, and i need to know if i can upload Guild Wars 2 content to it? Currently there is no Guild Wars 2 content on the channel, but i have some planned.

It is not a bug, the coat/chest piece will hide the shoulders. It says so on the item info popup.

Oh, i didn’t notice that. I still think it’s a bit dumb, as it seems pointless to buy the shoulders then. Of course you get the stats, but if you already have exotic shoulders, it’s pointless. Oh wel..

Hi all!

I have been looking for a new set of gear for my Theif. I found the Citadel of Flame medium set, which i like. But there is one thing: The set makes my character look skinny, because the shoulderpads ain’t visible. No matter which shoulders i use, they are not visible with the set. Not even the set’s own shoulderpads. I am not sure if this intentional or a bug. But it seems a bit pointless to buy the set shoulders then, so i would guess it is a bug. I would love to see this fixed, as it makes the set look wierd.

Molten Lodestones and other questions

CoF exp is the easiest dungeon in the game. You can complete both path 1 +2 in under 30 minutes each combined. You are guaranteed 1-2 cores a path, plus tons of gold and high chance of rares. If you do not choose to spend your tokens on free berserker armor/weapons, you could spend it on the level 70 rare headpieces to salvage for free ectos.
