For the first Dungeon, AC can be a turn off. It get’s easier in Explore (Paths 1 & 2) but in order to get Explore you gotta clear the dungeon first. The absolute worst part of AC Story is the Lovers Crypt. It’s pretty much get lucky with a group who has ran it before or at least as an idea of what to do as the rest of the dungeon is cakewalk after that. So you can do AC Story at 30, quest/story till 35 and to AC Explore. Or you can level until 40 where you get Caudecus Manor which has a much more manageable Story Mode.

Those of you who do it right with a good team, keep it up. Proc those fields if they won’t. I play mine from time to time but rarely get a good team. There’s a noticeable influx of staff Ele’s and I’m glad. Show the scrubs that this class isn’t broken despite our many skills being broken.

Learn to Attune switch.

Otherwise, play your Thief and spam Heartseeker while I drop Mist and watch you stab air and own you afterwards.

Bumping this build for validity. 4 ticks on water breath is awesome. Still like my Condition Fire build but this build is absolutely valid. I tanked a whole team on me 3 matches in a row. Match 2 they had to focus 4 on me just to get me down and sometimes they couldn’t even catch me. RTL no target, Cleansing Flame, Mist Form. They had to keep 3 on me just to lock/cripple me for the kill and when they did, I would just RTL right back into them and pop Updraft to make them work for it.

I still run my 30/x/20/10/10 condition build but this one just worked its way up to #2. Good build OP. FYI, I run Mist, Arcane Blast and Cleansing Flame and Glyph for my Utilities.

Nope. 0 issues. There are bad ele’s out there giving us a bad name. Case and Point, I was running AC Path 2 with a terribad Ele. This guy never left Fire tune through the whole dungeon. He never switched to Water for CC, 2 quick heals, or to throw a quick stack of Vulnerability, never switched to earth for snare or bleed stacks. He basically stayed in Fire and spammed Lava Font & Fireball. That’s the definition of terribad. Most groups welcome us because of our Utility. Currently running 20/x/12/15/x and use Staff in dungeons and D/D in PvE

Nah, dont take away our only staff blast finisher. The delay allows you to lay down E2 swap to fire/water/etc, lay down your field and use arcane wave to get a double blast finisher allowing for instant group 6 stacks of might.

I just wish combo fields would stack, eg frost field on top of water field to get area healing AND frost armor, or 2 water fields for double the healing.

It requires planning and coordination, but a well oiled team could make these really powerful.

Exactly right. I don’t even use blast finishers when I play my staff in Dungeons. My team uses their finishers to combo the field. If you want to solo as a staff and you want to proc your fields, bring Arcane Blast to take care of that for you. While there’s nothing stopping you from soloing with Staff, it truly shines in a good group that knows how to proc the fields you lay down. I think a .5 reduction in Eruption would help greatly. It’s like a 2.5 cast time and another 2.5 before it actually erupts. Staff is fine. @Midnightjade The problem is you said you play them at low levels so if you can’t understand the class or give it the proper amount of time, you’re not gonna know the potential. Again, Staff truly shines in groups that proc the fields you lay down for them.

In PvP I run 30/x/20/x/10. 10 points in arcane lowers the CD of Attunes to around 12/13 secs which is more than enough. Not enough ways to survive? Ride the Light, Updraft, Earths Embrace, Arcane Shield, Mist Form, Lightning Flash, Cleansing Fire the list goes on and on and it’s there’s even more Utility for Staff users in PvE and PvP. I run a Power/Condition build with some Vit mixed in and I sit around 17k HP and can take a whooping and still dish out great damage. Burning Speed > Ring of Fire > Drakes Breath. With condition I think the damage on Drake is 4.3k over 6s? Remove condition? That’s fine, it’s on such a low CD that it doesn’t matter. Follow that up with Flame Touch and switch to Air etc etc.

There’s nothing that forces you to go water/earth. I do just fine with my Fire/Earth/Arcane build and average around 12 kills. Wish I could see my assists because that would be awesome. Squishy? Somewhat. But that’s why you have all that utility to choose from. I was wrecking Guardians and Mesmers and Thieves (when I could the jump on them). I do get owned by good Thieves and earlier I got absolutely destroyed by this Engineer. No idea what build he was good mines, kb’s/kd’s. Anyway if you aren’t Attunement Swapping in Dungeons, WvWvW or PvP, you’re playing the class wrong. This class isn’t for the faint of heart who just like to spam one thing. It requires knowing what skills to use in what Attunement and when to use them. I mean there is so much utility for this class it’s amazing. Ranged bothering you and you’re staff? Wait till that sucker pops off rapid fire and pop Magnetic Aura, CC them and Attune switch to lay down damage.

I’ll agree in PvE I find my self using D/D or Staff and rarely being out of fire except for few circumstances but it doesn’t bother me.

I feel the class is fine except for our underwater skills which, for the most part, are atrocious.

Saint you are absolutely right the dungeons are not fun. Melee characters have to use ranged weapons the whole time or risk pulling aggro from multiple mobs and dying. And the dungeon system in gw2 is just another way to grind unfortunately. Dungeons are the best way to lvl earlier on by simply doing the story on farm mode over and over again. And farming tokens is all you do later on by taking the easiest shortest path over and over again. Hopefully they will figure out a way to change this experience

It’s at the part: Bring the winter sage to Valda in Hoelbrak. Entering that area and moving up to Valda or talking to any NPC in that instance causes the game to crash.

Unable to complete a pups illness. When you enter the instance, greeting any npc causes the game to crash. Moving to the location to complete the instance causes it to crash. Unable to progress story.
