For players without guild, housing is a solution and yep home instance don’t feel really like homes… But I will agree with the “gold sink” point, don’t want another thing to lost money for “aesthetic”. But not a real important feature for me.

Always the balance bending in extreme bad or good, but mounts are like everything in this game, they have pros that sometimes make cons appear:
-The mounts are beautiful and very well animated and realistic SO it induce motion sickness for some players.
-The mount are a mean of transports SO it will have an impact on TPs.
-If mount would fly, it WILL ruin immersion and the feeling of being stuck by obstacles.

All is linked, of course it depends on your opinions, you can say whatever you want, but for me, surfing on a manta-ray kind monster through all maps is just awesome! We don’t speak of basic animal like horse, wolves, lion…. that make this mmo generic, but real mythical creatures! BUT they should be Forbidden in capitals (Rata,LA,BC,DR,Grove,Hoelbrak). Also in other maps ok. Also an option to enable or disable the view of them is just STUPID, did you have an option to disable seeing gliders? No, that’s the same thing there, after an amount of time, it will be totally usual to see mounts!

But at the negative point, yes, yes it makes GW2 an generic MMO, and that’s sad, it’s the developer choice, but would rather see pact’s vehicles to drive us through the map, are we inside the battlefield or not? We arrive with an futurist airship and then, bye! Good luck! For me Crystal Desert is the same as Arah or Stigmatized lands in the north, we are in krakatorik’s domain, so pact must be deployed here too, the Ebon’s guard in front of crystal desert door, told us that mystical events happens and that it’s not safe, and we arrive hands in our pockets…

I totally disagree with transmutation system, I used to Have 49 transmutation crystal and then the update arrive, the deal is simple: 49 Crystal for only 17 Transmutation Charges, great Anet, great! I spent a lot to have all these crystals! It just give me out of nerves this system: It’s like glider skins, only a money question! Always need to buy some on TP…

BTW! BRING BACK SUPER ADVENTURE BOX (and moto’s boom box in sale too ;p)

-Stop with transmutation system and currency! Let the player change them when they want, where they want!

When you choose a mini or glider appearance, does the game require you to spent transmutation charge? NO! And they are appearances too!

So I’m against spending money for my armor look, just NO! Does in other rpg, changing my appearance require me some currency after earned/buyed? NO in WoW, Minecraft, Pokemon, Warhammer, Zelda… and surely many other!

I agree, it’s should be like in HoT: Environment Based, only limit them to mounts make no-sense, mounts should be like weapons: all skills aldready unlocked or by practising mounts! Just stoopid…. Also btw, I don’t see why bouncing mushroom can be there too, but not the same as HoT since it’s not the same extensions: Maybe other function like hydratation for players against the sun..

The Future Of Extensions

So, the time pass and the game change:
After discovered the whole Tyria and living story maps, travel through the maguma jungle like an adventurer and gaining access to the crystal desert soon, what to expect for future extensions?

Let’s sum up: 1-HoT Introduce Heart of Maguma: 4 maps
2-PoF Introduce Crystal Desert

Also we can anticipate the future extensions:
3-Should be like Valley of Ice, discover Deldrimor facade and Far Frostpeak
4-Forest Falls and North Maguma
5-Under Mount Maelstrom, between Arah and Crystal Desert
6-Bay and Island of Janthir the top North of world map

And then If Every land have been done, The deeper underground Exploration OR underwater exploration everywhere if improved. About this last one, it can be great since massive underground areas began to be introduced: Rata Novus is Awesome, and the underground tarir areas too. But not at it optimum: I would like to see more areas like when you are inside the Eternity Crucible: An gigantic Underground Hive-Complex of Asuras: Learn more about the fundation of Inquest, the uncategorized fractal that seem to be at the right in Verdant Depths map. Also the creation of Rata Sum, rata sum imo, isn’t the first Asura Capital, we can easily find somewhere underground another one 3x bigger! Many mysteries unsolved!


To return to the main topic, after added Gliders, Mounts, what will they add? The capacity to own a boat for Janthir Bay? New utilities to dig through moutains? Special Equipments to travel around in high Altitude and so Helicopter? And for north maguma, like it looks very rocky, climbing mecanic?

Anyway for future expensions, it will be something that can have skins, and so can push peoples to buy something and also useful: Which match this criteria is climbing and boats.


I’m impatient to see your opinions and feelings about this:
-What would look like future extensions?
-New areas and mechanics, masteries?

Holosmith in 100 words this time:
-Powerfull and Aethetic skills.
-Easy to play.
-Great Heat Mechanic, but the heat bar should have a stat for it, and so can be increased with armor, or reduce the produced heat of some skills.
-Nothing to change for power, engineer were always medium/weak, and here is a chance to boost them.
-BUT not all the weapons are affected by heat and that’s sad.

So as I have seen that many ask why heat don’t affect other weapons, I decide to make news “heat” skills for all engineer weapons, including riffle but without hammer due to the spec Scrapper, Also dual sword can be done, but last skills must be powerful:

Pistol 1: Blast | Pistol 2: Overpowered Bullets |
Pistol 3: Holographic bursts
Shield 4: Solar Shield | Shield 5: Solar Reflexion
Pistol 4: Ionized Shot | Pistol 5: Meteor Shot
Rifle 1: Flamethrower | Rifle 2: Dazzling Shot |
Rifle 3: Fire Rain | Rifle 4: Armor Breaker |
Rifle 5: Volcanic Earthquake
Sword 4: Fire Sword | Sword 5: Powered Swords tornado

Note: All 5 skills use target area, (aoe)

Specs tested: -Holosmith and Deadeye, aggree with LoreChief.8391 btw:
“holosmith: do you really think that one sword is the only weapon to interact with heat?” No of course hell no!
-About Holosmith first, because I have many things to say about it: Very beautiful skills, strong and aesthetic, my eyes just say “thank you” when I’m in Photon forge mod. Also many suggestions come about the basic skills with sword: When you choose Holosmith specialization, all yours weapons SHOULD gain new abilities, like “Holographic bullet” for a pistol, “Thermal shield” for a shield, “Enhanced riffle” for the rifle, kinda stuff like that, and I know that is possible: Elementalist have different skills depending on their affiliation to an element for a same weapon.

Secondly, I don’t understood that: We gain access to sword for only one hand? It MUST allow player to wear a sword in both hands, if a man can hold a sword, he can hold two of them. Actually only the first three skills are news when you use a sword and for instance and not the two last of a pistol… It’s just STUPID.

And, damage dealt are only great with berserker, that’s sad, increase damage and make a player that will use like me a cavalier set(+power +armor +ferocity) stronger, seem that berserker set must be use everywhere, I said NO, an Engineer isn’t a WARRIOR.

-About Deadeye now, almost the same: Skills in themselves are fabulous, and I will really enjoy to play as a sniper, but for me, he isn’t strong enough, I mean, It’s quite hard to inflict a lot of damage: Select an enemy, put an eye on him, put a mark of sniper, then turn in sniper mod, kneel and then use the last skill: sniper shot.. It’s very hard, and stats aren’t extras even with a berserker build!! It’s very impressive and easy to play, but when examining stats, damage dealt etc, it’s kinda a trap, it disappointed me. Of course marks are easy to put, but if only that is used and then sniper shot, that cannot insta-kill your enemy. Also don’t understood what malice is, also by judging with the help of other players, need to be tone down.

So, to sum up with suggestions:
->Holosmith: Add specials specialization skills on others engineer weapons, and add the possibility to have a sword in both hands. Change the specialization logo: It looks very very much like “Biological Hazard” Symbol, or “Mark of Nurgle” from warhammer.
Make a better one, more understandable like holographic shield. Damage dealt are certainly strong if wearing berserker, try cavalier like me and then tell me.
->Deadeye: Make it easier to play, and not only for Berserker and Viperin. No delay for marks, they are marks, not really thing that require time to active. Less damage with malice. The fourth sniper skill is overpowered but others not enough.

For sure, I agree with you, but these utilitaries must be classed in somes bags: For me Elixir Pistol and Flamethrower are a sub-class for rifle, so for me just another appearance for a riffle.

We aren’t the only class with “kits”, just the skills appearance change, for engineer it’s kit, for elementalist “elemental weapons”, and surely another things for other classes.

Of course you get some new skills with them, but these kits are only a brick to help you building your build, your manner to play the class, to compare with, it’s like fire great sword or ice bow from elementalist, they are utilities, yes you can use them but they are not a completely weapon since it disappear after a time. And yes I know, you will retort by “you can stay with kits as long as you want”. I also notice this point, but if you add Mines, Bombs which I count as one (Anti-terrestrial) pistol elixir and flamethrower count also as one (riffles alternate), we get 8 weapons, it still worst. :/

-The fact is just, if you allow a player to use a sword in one of his hand, I don’t see why he can’t use another ones. It’s just logic, also when Holosmith specialization is chosen, it should change skill from other weapons, not only sword! :o As elementalist for the element chosen. So I agreed with all you say, but as you said it yourself “utility”.

Holosmith Feedback and sugestions

Firstly, I’m very impressed with his skills, very aesthetics and also powerful, great idea the use of solar energy, it makes the engineers more futurists! Nice touch heat bar, also not a problem if you stop in time before overheat. Better than Scrapper I think.

Also, we gain access to right handed sword, so why don’t gain also access to left handed sword? :/ Or gain access to great sword? It’s stupid, it makes new skills in 1,2,3 slots in hotbar whereas 4 and 5 still old skills, for scrapper for instance, all skills were news not only left ones.

Secondly, the icon: Holosmith icon remind me bio-hazard icon which is for poison, viruses and so on… It would be better to replace it with a clear one like an hexagonal fractured tile who remind hexagonal holographic platforms from asuras! This actual icon seem better for a plagues based profession.

So, for Holosmith it will be better to have special skills: When in your right hand, sword change skills from other weapons: Pistol and Shield skills change to I don’t know, Light charged bullet and thermal enhanced shield? And we can improve it more:
Engineer is the profession with the less possibilities of weapons, only 6 can be used whereas the better is gardian or warrior with 13. So why not adding uses of great sword to engineer? since a man can use a sword, I don’t see why he can’t use a great one!

-A free instrument for players, they can choose whatever they want, i’v been there since the beginning and don’t still have any ones whereas I saw an asura with super boom box
-Bonus memory box for season 2 and eventually 3 when ended.
-A box with slots purchasable to store utililies/fun items inside like jerrac said. Or buyable with magics at Fire ring island or anywhere else.

My actual PVE build don’t know if it’s great or not but I like it, I always use it and have some victories in pvp with him.
-Full Ascended Armor (Cavalier: so Power+, Toughness++ and ferocity+)
-Almost a mess for accesories: a berserker, cavalier………
-Critical hit effects.
-Rifle build with turrets, no kits, swap sometimes with flamethrower instead of Elixir.

+Correct health: 18 812
+Important armor: 3318
+Medium Power: 2068
+Enough healing skills to fill the healing power gap

-No Alterations damage or bonus durations

The first person camera is just HORRIBLE!! Make it change calibrate her! If you zoom as more as you can with your zoom in key, you see the world through… I don’t really know, belly or genitals?! It’s the case with humans, and for asura it seem you float over his heads, she SHOULD be calibrate in function of the height of your character!! :o
First person = See through his eyes!
Not his belly like if your characters don’t exist: a giant floating eyeball!
I’m censed to see only his face!

The Mounts are Useless

1) Waypoints are faster.
Sure they are, the only reason why they are mount is because you have just a few waypoints in PoF maps, so need something to replace them and move faster.

But I Disagree! Asuras are a kind of intelligent dwarfs, to sum up, they dig everywhere into the underground and discovered almost every lands so I’m sorry but It should have more waypoints in the crystal desert, and here is the proof: Waypoint inside the lost city of rata Novus, and every camps in dragon’s retreat map from HoT.
So mount are useless, Anet aren’t stupid, it’s business: Don’t have HoT and so no masteries to travel? Buy HoT! But finding magma canalization inside the crystal desert can be great since Balthazar and his fires are around there! Ley line too.

2) They do nothing new.
Of Course but same argument as before, replace masteries of moves from HoT.

3) It’s not a realistic approach.
It is, you are in an oasis which seem quite primitive with ruins and a lot of agricultural lands, it seem legit to use a raptor or a dromedary or sand manta ray…… It’s a fantasy world afterall. Pact will not deploy a tank just for you, they will only for fighting against a great danger like a dragon and it’s the same case with orders.

4) They don’t fly.
Yes and that a good thing, I don’t want to just fly over all maps in “yolo mode”, it make exploration more boring, I would just say JUST WALK! At this point I want to say that terrestrial mounts are useless too: running with them everywhere instead of waypoints? To peoples saying Waypoints bring nothing to the game: Imagine this game with only mounts, no waypoints or asura portals: Would you use your raptor to travel from rata sum to the black citadel?! Really?! I prefer to have waypoints than a horse running at 20km/h like in Zelda!! And that great they don’t fly, glider still have their uses.

Not so many maps are lacking of waypoints, it’s ok for HoT maps for me, and for tyria too. At dry top they are few, but it’s due to the sandstorm it’s legit, but inside the oasis they are NO sandstorm nothing that prevent Asuras to build one, and I think that we must add a good numbers of Waypoints and add mounts too, and so peoples choose what to use!ç

My feedback about gw2 PoF:
Positive points:
-A well modeled desert, better than dry top map….
-A very beautiful effect about water, if lava would be improved like that too…
-Nice features to have addes mounts BUT it make GW2 like a generic MMORPG like WoW….. the first thing I have to mind with gw2 it’s exploration, peoples must keep walking through the maps!!!! Peoples travel through maps with waypoints that’s ok but imagine with mounts! The game wouldn’t have the same spirit….. Stop assist peoples… Soon we will have tutorial for everythings it’s become a real mess!!
-Environment is great but the oasis seem very empty for me compared to HoT maps… We arrive in a region which look like Egypt but where are the temples and statues?! On the loading screen of the map we saw a temple, a temple that doesn’t exist that sad.
-Interesting story but too simple one, always “a bad guy appear, he make a mayhem inside the area, you have to kill him….” not very inventive.
-Quite better than HoT maps: less maps layers, awesome hydras and sand mantas rays.

Negatives points:
-No items to identify, just no, NO! Or instantly identified for nothing, copper coins…
-Like HoT, basic map without extraordinary things, main tyria maps are better than extensions ones, a shame: Why not adding great world boss? In desert we can have a giant worm with the same power as the shatterer, and as big as him!! In HoT, it’s the case with Mordremoth inside the last map. Extensions maps should have quests like normal ones, it’s quite boring all these infinite try hero points, and challenges.
-PoF maps are empty: No great structures as a fortress, asuran labs, ancient citadel…. I just seen a small town, some agricultural lands….. Desert is synonym of ruins, explorations, discoveries and Pyramids with TOMBS in it or something to explore, not cubic empty ones…
-Enough of making all class unpowered just to force peoples to buy extensions for specialization, I was there at the beginning before HoT, my engie was powerful with 3250 atk, 3250 armor, inflicting 10 vulnerability per net throwed so easily go up for 20 charges, my bullets were shrapnel so inflicting bleeding, now, only 8 charges and no bleeding, sometimes fire for critical hit! My necromancer kill enemies 3x faster than my engie unbelievable!

To conclude, I made the mistake to purchase HoT just to gain access to gliders….
I’m actually hesitating to purchase PoF since it very look like the same poor organization but in a desert… I will not make a mistake again and purchase it just for mounts! Nothing really amazing. I can’t express myself about masteries since I don’t like this system.

Mounts are well animated, but unnecessary for a game like gw2 for me, or limited to extensions maps. If after the raptor, horse, pegase and others animals would be added it wil lead to a decline for me, the game as he start was amazing and awesome the living story too, but add too many things and extensions and he become less credible… Story is bad for PoF like HoT, it become more and more a fairy tail for children and lesser for adult, darker story… Maybe for some players mounts are great, but for me it’s useless, it’s like a toy, you can discover more things while walking than running with a raptor at 40 km/h… Compare the game with real life: when you visit a church a memorial… You aren’t in your car or mounts?! I really waiting for an underground extensions with asurans complex everywhere and caverns with hidden treasures.

Rating:
Story: 3/10 without inspiration…
Map design: 7/10 great but can be improved: pyramid interiors: tombs etc..
Mounts: 8/10 Well animated and modeled…
Gear/Loot: 4/10 Blade armors of HoT where better than the gears here…
Masteries: 6/10 Ok but not really hard to get them…
Open world: 2/10 Empty, like ghost city, some events, but get boring after few minutes.

Technological Asuran Glider, but a real one based on asura’s architecture and culture, not a tron thing. Here is my idea:
-His name (can be changed): “Inquest Prototype Glider XH17-D”
-Appearance: Essentially made of an Hexagonal Pattern with holographic thin platforms, the all tainted of Red. Can also exist in Blue, Green for static, synergistic and dynamic college, also inquest symbol must be replaced with college insignia.
-Animations: Not lot of things to do, some sparks between the two parts and little red particles at the cubes.

I have joined some illustrations: The glider , the glider with explanations and the overlay on my character (over a blood-sharded glider). The appearance isn’t definitive and I Think she can be improved, It’s just a first draw form my idea.

PoF Demo - Feedback

It’s very sad that a game originally free in majority became more and more a pay 2 win, make specializations more and more worst to force purchase….. I’m waited a lot from expensions, I purchased HoT expecting a lot but all I earn is vast maps in forests, and I Hate forests apart if they are asuran buildings in it. Extensions maps are lesser attractive than the original tyria and main living stories like scarlet, aetherblade…. For this two expansions the only goal is “To purge corruptions” of dragons, gods…. An Underground Expension with asuras giant cities and labs complexs would be greater than this. So to return to the demo, I check it out and it’s just flat apart Mounts, but mounts make GW2 like others greats MMORPG starting by W or S… GW2 begin to fall into the wrong path… A desert have nothing very interesting, surely some small town and pyramid thingy but I waited a lot more from this area… Everything became made of gems…. Missed living stories? gems!! Appearances for your glider? gems!! Anything interesting? gems!!

Hi there! I joined the forum recently and here is my first thread. A suggestion one, just before your start to read it, I have not in mind to criticize, here are suggestions and what I think, you can think the same or not. Enjoy

Surely a lot of you know what Inquest is, an organization of Mad Asuras which think they are superiors with many labs around tyria!

I really love them, I mean, I have an Asura as ones of my characters and it will just be awesome if the player could join this Organization as a starting choice like dynamic, synergistic and static colleges. But I have to divide this post into parts to make it clear:

-Firstly, I like Inquest Weapons Appearance from the Crucible of Eternity or Sorrow’s Embrace and I think about that, why they are too few Inquest Weapons? I think that weapons from the Pact’s Fleet could be unbelievable in corrupted version tainted of red which is the main color of Inquest! Tormented ones too by the way.
I play as an Engineer and I cannot find an awesome rifle: the rifle from Eternity crucible is just too simple, the one from sorrow’s Embrace is great but he look like a weapon from a famous sci-fi film in space… I found recently the peacemaker one, great but too small. :/ The Predator is just too much for my eyes.
So I expect a more technological rifle which look nice tainted in red, very thin. But remember, it’s just my point of view.

Now, my second Suggestion: Again, about Inquest…(sorry but I think I am a fanatic!)
They are many Impressive Locations In GW2, inside the whole Tyria, but some Architectural Masterpieces, like the Crucible of Eternity: Inside and Outside, it’s just beautiful! Also Rata Novus, Rata Sum are great too. And It’s just me, but i think that they are not enough asuran structures through Tyria, when I discovered heart of thorns and the core of maguma I was a little disappointing: I thought that I would see an Gigantic Asuran Complex or Pyramid like a small Rata Sum at what look like a giant Blue Circle Thingy when you haven’t unlock the map yet. But at the right of Eternity Crucible too. :/

And here is not a critic but most an analysis: Heart of thorn Maps are less Impressive than the main tyria, only Verdant Brink map is well done as the dragon ones , but Auric Bassin is nothing without his meta-event, defense of Tarir. I expected map like Caledon Forest or Metrica with labs, quests and research labs everywhere, here it’s only grass, leaves, trees and frogs. In contrary, ring of fire Islands are Amazing, Mount Draconis too. And again, I’m surely in a minority of players thinking that. :o

-To end this, bad guys are showed as bad guys, but I think that quest where you help them can be great depending on your affinity, like when you choose a profession or a college for your asura, not like “kills innocent ones and bring them to containment cells” but more like “find some energetic component to power the Inquest Lab” , I know they are enemy, but when you are a member of them, who is your enemy? Our actual Allies. I’m curious too see your thinking and reactions about this last ones: Do you think enemies are just enemies? Or are they just peoples with a different philosophy? So that’s it, the eternal alchemy! Waiting for your answers That was my suggestions and reactions about GW2
