Fine, separate it.
But I don’t want to hear one god kitten (lul kitten =^.^=) peep about how you people can’t get the PVP Completion reward. NOT ONE kitten PEEP.
If you’re getting low frame rates..
1) specific your system, especially how much system memory you have
2) where you’re getting these.
Try and do a clean uninstall of your video drivers too. I had issues with AoC…like no body, just floating hair, eye balls, and tattoos. A clean install of the video drives (using Driver Sweeper) fixed that…might help here.
Seems my medical knowledge is tad outdated :P
They appear to think the human eye can ‘see’ above 100fps, but the general acceptance is still anything below 24fps and it begins looking like a strobe-light behind dancers.
Statement still stands that anything over 40 is pretty much a waste. This coming from a person that has played the same game at 5fps, 17fps, 20fps, and finally 60fps (capped). After 30 it was smooth, after that it was “real life”, so I capped it at 60fps…though if my understanding is right 1Hz = 2fps. So even that cap is pretty much a waste.
Also, note that I did say it would vary. But for me it’s 40+ and I don’t end up with headaches.
@Alteris – I just find it odd that my GPUs are overheating when playing GW2. Every other game they are nice and cool. GW2 is a good game, but not worth butchering my GPUs to hope for a fix for the overheating. I’ll just wait for a decade or 2 till they optimize the engine or maybe when the GTX 700 series drops or something.
It’s either the card itself or your setup (physical or SLI). I run the game at 1680×1050@60Hz (Windowed Fullscreen; dual monitor…keep the wiki in one screen and the game in the other). Everything is maxed, Vsync is off, running 306.23 (306.93 may have caused a BSoD on me; need to test some more things). And I run at 78-80c with ~50fps.
Try running the game at a different 16:9 ratio (think that’s what 2560×1440′s is might be 16:10..dunno…hate math :P ). Also try running with out SLI at 2560×1440 all the same settings, I know some games have trouble..even in this day ’n age with SLI/Crossfire.
@Lightvision actually, anything above 30fps is pretty much a waste. As the eye doesn’t see anything above that (+/- a few based on the individual). 40fps (constant) is enough to produce smooth movements, beyond that is just kitten.
I have to do PvE to get 100% completion, I hate PvE. Yet I still do it.
So, why can’t ‘you’ do PvP?
And I bet there’s challenges out there in PvE just as hard as the ones in PvP.
Also, why stay on a low-pop server. The ability to transfer worlds for free is temporary…so I suggest you people pick a server now. *Checking the World Selection page all but Kaineng are listed as ‘High’ (5:30 EST)
Mine is around 58-60 celsius while playing and im using automatic fan speed, since the fans of this card are extremely quiet below 60% fan speed
Video Settings in game?
And yet I don’t see PvPers complaining they have to kill mobs to get their achievement.
A decent rig for this game will probably run around $800USD before combo deals and rebates.
I would recommend getting a video card with at least 4GB of VRAM, it’s about $70USD more and well worth it.
CPU: X79 chip series (LGA2011)
Mobo: X79 series
Video: GTX 670 4GB (remember the 690 is DUAL CORE so that’s only 2GB per core)
PSU: at least 800W
*UPS: never get APC, that company is no longer what it once was…cheap plastic and crap for consumers :\ I personally, like CyberPower UPSs(es?)
*Why spend money then have a power surge/outtage ruin it all?
A key for you in chipsets is:
X = Gaming Enthusiast
H = Home Theater
P = Minor gaming
Solar, no in SLI the cards are pretty much touching, the fan is therefore designed to suck air in from the sides.
Fan blades are like this (looking at it from the top): | | | | | | |
Instead of at an angle like a typical fan (ie like in a fan symbol)
“Structured Player vs. Player (sPvP) is a core feature in Guild Wars 2, and it’s quite massive.”
(can’t figure the quoting system)—-
What about a different solution…what about allowing players to set a PvE flag on their character?

Ya, I’m sure people won’t exploit the kitten out of that idea….
Not to mention it would allow bots to farm WvW because you’re auto-leveled to 80
Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are PVP games, if you don’t like PVP, don’t complain that you’re playing a game that was publicly stated to center around PVP. And if you didn’t know that..well…how’s fault is it for not researching before buying a product.
Well, for starters:
Get EVGA Precision, or MSI Afterburner.
Now set the fan controller to use:
30c → 40%
50c → 50%
80c → 80%
90c → 100%
Nvidia sets the fan to about 30% duty cycle to keep it quiet, and it’ll jump up to about 60% duty cycle at 70c.
You should see your card running at about 80c at 100% usage.
You may also need to go with liquid cooling for the video cards since you’re running SLI. Or change to high CFM fans for all your case fans.
About the 700series, it will probably use the same chipset (Kepler) as the 600. Just as the 500 used the same (Fermi) as the 400. They seem to change chipsets ever 3rd series; 800series should use a new chipset.
I highly recommend a GTX 670 4GB, you may question the madness, but when friends ask you want MOVIE you’re watching and you tell them it’s Skyrim….ya…it was worth the extra money.
Kargion, I play normally…I’m not bankrupt.
And if you are low on coin, buy some gems. For $10 USD you can get (right now) 3g 19s 43c. I just look at it as a monthly subscription fee….that I don’t always have to pay.
Effects are just fine for me, don’t stand in the fire (if it’s damaging you)
OP, FYI: Guild Wars has always been touted as a PVP-centric game. Why did you get a game that centers around something you hate?
It’s like getting into a game of poker and saying you don’t like that you’re forced to play with other people.
Allow us to resize the UI Frames, right now I can’t see the entire recipe name, let alone the “(#)”. :\
Also, please fix the Character Info frame at Character selection. Right now I have “Midgard Protectorate” inside the box, the rest, “[GARD]”, is outside it. This is at 1680×1050 resolution and at 1920×1080.
Will a battery pull break the app?
The SWTOR Mobile Auth breaks if you do that ‘Encounter an expected error. [followed by a force close]’. Which means people who had to do this would need to call CS to get the authenticator removed.
Blizzard’s app doesn’t do this, neither does RIFT’s or Google’s.
What do you mean by this? The authenticator services are third party— it’s not like it’s running directly from your phone, it’s relaying info from a server.
The authenticators use unique data from the phones’, like timestamps to create a unique registration key, this is the key you are asked to enter and is the same type of key found on the back of the physical keys above the barcode. If you pull the battery the timestamp freezes (duh), and is suppose to be picked up the next time the phone is powered and receives the cell tower’s timing.
But for whatever reason Bioware’s app doesn’t update and you get an ‘unexpected error’. This was patched though, but anyone who did a battery pull or had their battery drain to 0 ended up with the error.
Personally, I think they rushed the release because of the rampant account hacking that went on. That’s why I want ArenaNet to be aware of this and not make the same mistake….I HATE talking on the phone, ‘specially when it’s going to result in me proving I’m “me”.
EDIT: In fact, I just reinstalled the app on my HTC Eris. Instead of generating the registration key natively, you go to their website and it generates it there. Don’t recall doing that the first time.
EDIT2: I see you’re using Google Authenticator (I have an Android phone)

Nah, GMs should just teleport all the sub-50s to Orr (is that the 80 zone? haven’t been past Straits). The mobs will take care of them :P
