I did admit to being drunk and one person goes, “Are you serious!??!?” Oops should have kept that tidbit to myself.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
whoa.
wait.
People play this game sober?
apparently so… and the times I would die is when I tried to rezz the dead people. So I said kitten this, I am not rezzing anyone. The other zerker dungeon master dude yelled and asked why everyone was dying.. he’s like, “I never died” I replied, “What I rezzed you while you were down. Don’t lie.” lolololol it was a hot mess but we did finally get it. Oh and they tried to kick the instance owner.. I was like “Nuuuuu.. she’s the instance owner!”
Perma prot when instance owner.
I wish.
Well this one.. right at Tarza goes.. “Oh the comcast guy is here to fix my bad connection.. toodles” and she was offline the whole fight! This is the same one who somehow fell off of the bridge into the lava and just laid there until I had to tell her to wp again. Oi.

I’d take more Empyreal Fragments than Dragonite Ore, to be honest.
I used to have the least Dragonite Ore, but it just pours in when you’re doing things like Karka Queen, Temples and EotM karma trains.
I have to digress, sadly. I currently have twice as many Empyreal Fragments as Bloodstone Dust, simply from all of my dungeon activities.
Hihi.. me too! xD I sort of like keeping the dragonite ore to open world content. It’s really the only time I see my guild mates. I don’t do dungeons nor fractals with them.. I guess because everyone is on mumble to coordinate dungeons runs and I prefer to be voiceless most of the time. Anyways, it’s nice to get to play with them in the open world.. and yeah I believe the temple events would die if they added dragonite ores to FoTM and Dungeons.
If they just add it to fractals I doubt it’ll make much difference tbh. A lot of people farm these events for the loot, the ectos. I don’t know why as it seems boring and unprofitable to me, but it’s the truth.
But I guess it all depends on how much of it will drop in fractals.
I think some people do it for karma too. I know if you do 10 levels below your PR then you get some pretty good Karma points.. I have been pleasantly surprised looking at my wallet, the karma I accumulated unintentionally.
Hrm yeah.. I would of course say that dragonite ore in the content I do the most would be awesome.. but there’s already complaints of rest of Tyria being empty.. and for those reasons, I would say to keep it the way it is for now.
I’d take more Empyreal Fragments than Dragonite Ore, to be honest.

Yeeah I have far too much empyreal and like, 0 dragonite. I’m going to be using my wvw tickets this season for dragonite. For reals.
Ah yeah.. I am using mine to level up to 30 since the new requirement for a legendary which remains so far away..
I think I have like 159 dragonite ores and multiple stacks of Empyreal star in my bags that I just can’t destroy. I don’t mind the temple events. It’s a bit of mindless thing to do with my guildies. The lag however freezes my poor puter and my graphic card crashes.. it’s fun trying to keep my computer functioning more so than the event itself. I get so happy when I get dragonite ores from loot. I feel like I scored an exotic or something. lolololol
As dub informed me, doing temples with a small group is really fun and might not harm your computer too much. Maybe do them on a dead server with a party!
As for rank… You only need to be rank 14 for the gift of battle now, AND you can get those levels with laurels.
Oh nice! xD Thank you.. that’s awesome to know because I am level 20 W vs W now on my mesmer. Yay! I guess I will be using my ticket for dragonites too then. Ahahahaha indeed.. the small parties are my preferable way of doing things on GW2. My computer can’t handle zergs until I get a better system.
I stood in Lion’s Arch for a long time.. and it was definitely a visceral moment.. I do believe they did this perfectly.. and the score. It’s so hauntingly beautiful. Lion’s Arch Lament

People keep trying to impose their definition of fun on others.
sigh
Your definition of fun is minimizing gaming time, intentionally skipping most of the game’s content, avoiding combat (a core mechanic of the game) and rushing to get rewards for the work you didn’t do?
Sorry, then.
And your definition of fun is killing everything in sight indiscriminately? How is that even an effective use of your game time. Do you kill everything while doing events in Queensdale? Mobs can be skipped.. it’s not an exploit. An exploit is using a glitch to skip an unavoidable mob meaning that you would have to kill it in order to progress. There’s plenty of mechanics of each boss encounters which I find more interesting than the common denominator. And the reward is for completing the dungeon (in whichever way the party chooses).. not killing every kitten monsters that a person encounters.
If you choose to play the game this way, fine.. although I do bit feel sorry for you too.
Does anyone remember Runescape? In dungeons, teams would totally ignore the trash mobs and only work on obtaining keys and killing the champion. You could also try to obtain a cape to stealth the lower leveled players and was a coveted item.
Would people consider this exploiting, I wonder. I really don’t know any game where trash mobs gave better loot than champions. I played both mmo and console games since I was a wee lass.. I am in my mid 30s now. (Ok, there was a 15 year gap where I didn’t play any games because I was studying then working, socializing and stuff)
In most games, if the group mob is passable.. people will ignore them. It is not an exploit to run past trash mobs, if it was.. we wouldn’t be able to and would have to kill all of them in order to progress. Also while it might be fun to kill all the trash mob your first few times in dungeons, trust me.. by your 50th run of the same path.. you will wish for this option if it wasn’t available.
Trying to do Arah after your first few hours of playing this game is a guaranteed failure. Just play the game.. enjoy the many aspect that it has to offer. Dungeons should be a gradual process unless you happened to be one of those highly skilled player who picks up the game mechanics quickly. I would save Arah for later.. keep trying AC, have someone who knows the path take you. Learn the core basics of the game and also your profession that you chose.. then come back and give us your opinion on the matter.
Told a PUG to spread out and stop running around like a headless chicken in Mai Trin.
One Guardian didn’t listen, caused everybody else to die, slowly resurrected everybody downed and claimed that he was carrying everyone.
Not that we’ve ever complained that he was an AH build.
This happens in every Mai Trin run. Usually one or two people running around the entire room.
More drunk dungeoneering for me. I had to PM Iris to help me with SE 1 run, it had been quite some time since I ran it and the person who started the instance did not know to wp when she fell into the lava. We wiped at the alphas and barely made it the 3rd time. We four manned Tarza because the instance owner went offline. Comcast guy came right on cue. We got her after few wipes which is sad because I don’t remember wiping on her ever before. I think she was glitched. Would not come out to the other side. I rarely do this dungeon so was running around clueless. I did admit to being drunk and one person goes, “Are you serious!??!?” Oops should have kept that tidbit to myself.
I made this gif just for this thread.
My favorite part is that it has the Temple Armor skin still, indicating that it’s either PTV or some other bunkery set of armor.
My heart dies a little everytime I see that armor skin in a dungeon PUG.
There is something called a transmutation crystal. I used it to make my T3 into a berserker set. I use different armor based on looks and change it. It is not that uncommon to do so. Not to mention armor skins, you can put any armor so you don’t know what set the person is wearing. That’s not the best indicator of armor set. Also the build is more important than armor.

Guys, stop making hot chicks! XD
Edit: I think I’m partially blamed for promoting sexiness recently. But seriously, what are you gonna do when your chick goes for a swim? Quagganize her, please!
Oh you can see the underwear on Mina if you cam up.. she’s a harlot. And it doesn’t match
ERP.. ahahahaha that’s a word that I didn’t expect from GW2. O.O
ERP all day err day on TC.
Salma district whaaaaat
I am soooo guesting on TC
Oh boy is right..
It’s terrible… just uninstall.
Trash mobs rarely give any good loot, it’s better to run past them. Some endlessly respawn but I think that’s fractals.. not dungeons.
Huh? What bug? What glitches? You played this game for few hours and hence came to this conclusion. :/
Skilled players won’t need a healer to keep them alive.
I couldn’t keep them alive anyways. Everyone still died. I think they might have just been bad pugs. But they still wanted to stack for some reason, even though they seemed to have no idea how. One group had us stack on top of a hard to reach rock in the middle of a room (bad idea, and the wrong stack point for that part.) Everyone kept falling off due to knock backs and had to crawl their way up, but then usually died trying to get back and or the party on top of the rock had mostly died. After most people were dead, I left the rock. It was pretty dumb.
Well to be honest.. that’s your fault.. you have group wide stabilities.. why didn’t you use them to help your group out? You could have used retreat to help them to get to the rock. It’s probably not the optimal time to use it but if you see your group having difficulties reaching something.. that would help.
P.S. You should be spamming F1 and other blinds.. putting up your wall of reflection.. when in doubt do it, because it can be a combo finisher to melee. Also if you use whirl of wrath, it’s an extra condi cleanser. Use of stability (Stand your Ground is my fav and I usually have that on my bar) in many part of dungeons due to knockbacks. Aegis at appropriate times (this takes a long time to master and it goes in part with watching the boss’s telling move) If traited, you can use F2 as condi cleanser. Watch your party left bar.. if you see your party having tons of conditions, pop it or if they are low on health, I use it. If you want to be a great guard, then learn to switch out utilities in between.
For crowd control, It’s greatsword 5 for the pull. I do believe mesmer has more utilties for that.. but you can use that to pull a mob towards you. Very useful thing to have.
I never tried the hammer build but I have been in teams with a hammer guardian. I think you should try that one.
Stacking works best if there’s enough dps, some method of crowd control, and you still do have to dodge during stacking. It’s a bit harder to see when everyone is pressed together so that takes time to learn, mostly watch out for the telling sign of boss hit- I still have yet to master this.
Stack is beneficial because it allows quick rez if someone gets downed, the boons, and support utilities that has range. It can reduce AOE bursts on certain bosses, but if your group doesn’t have enough dps as a whole, then it probably won’t work. Also running a healway guard in a part of five man team is probably part of the reason for your problem. You are not contributing to dps; therefore, you are actually hurting them by doing this. Try a more offensive build or even the hammer build if you feel that your group needs that extra support.
Curious about why they did it?
PR.
It’s always about the PR
Well, you can get a good bottle of wine anywhere. But a good bottle of wine for 5 Euro? That’s much easier in France.
Oh, I got a superb bottle of Sangiovese for 1.5 euro in Italy! To this day, my best score in wine. That bottle would have cost $20 in the US. I agree, the ability to find good wine affordably in Europe is much easier than here.
Also, I drank almost every single day while in Europe and never really got drunk nor had terrible hangovers, from wine at least.
I am the type that learns by doing. No matter how many youtube videos I watch or guides I read.. that’s how I retain the knowledge. Although I would say that watching them and reading the guides before and during doesn’t hurt. If that is how you learn, then it’s best to find people to run dungeons with and keep chugging at it. Take breaks inbetween so you don’t get too frustrated or burnt out. You should be honest when you enter an instance.. “Hey guys, my first time, is that ok?” depending on the party, they will show you the ropes or kick you. Being kicked is part of pugging.. don’t take it too hard or personally. Just avoid groups that want experienced or speed run. You can always make your lfg too, “Anyone welcome or first timers” in title. I join those sometimes and I know a lot of experienced people does too.
The difficulty scale between most of GW2 content and dungeons is daunting. I think that’s what throws most people off. Also, join a new guild. If no one is willing to help you learn, that’s just terrible nor is it a friendly guild. I, personally, recommend the Noob mentor group stickied on top. I had the joy of being in few of their teaching runs. You want to learn how to do dungeon the most efficient way… not run around like a chicken with your head cut off.. unless it’s a meta mentor, they don’t expect you to be in a meta build/armor. They bring the knowledge, have patience, and make it fun!
I know Soldier’s rune are not optimal but it’s my last crutch. The shout for condi removal is my favorite. I have thought about switching to scholar’s for quite some time or add them to my 2nd set of zerker armor. How much of a difference does scholar make in terms of damage? Is it a vast difference or marginal?
Also might stacking. I have seen this discussed on the dungeon forum. How does a guardian stack might besides the Staff? I don’t really use the staff at much if at all. I didn’t think guardian’s were useful for might stacking but seems possible.
For reference: I use your balanced with extra dps build. I have two sets of full armor, zerker and knights, all my weapons and accessories are zerker. gs/s-f primary weapons, sceptor and focus for ranged..
(edited by layzoe.6035)
I second the two sets of armors especially for a guardian. I have a zerker and a knights. (Well actually I have four sets of armor but that’s more because of fashion rather than usefulness) You may want to start off with a knight and work your way towards a zerker. However, use zerker accessories and weapons. I think build is more important than your armor. Use Obal’s build stickied at top. If you are new and don’t know the dungeon encounters yet.. and pug in Zerker, you will find yourself dying a lot which will be frustrating. If I am in a pug with very low dps, I find myself in downed state more often in which then I will switch to knights. Just to mitigate the damage.
I am really surprised that your guild expects you to pug? I would find another guild.. the whole point of guild is to assist each other unless you are in a speed run group or something. Please feel free to add me in game if you are in a US server. I would be happy to take you along to any dungeon and fractals except Arah. There’s also a dungeon mentor group if you go to the dungeon forum stickied at top. The amazing mentors who would be happy to teach you as well.

I’m French and from Bordeaux :>
Just sayin’
So effin Jelly! I have been to France..
Drank tons of wine while there..
Lol, Mina. What an adventure!!! I should drink and do dungeons next time. Operation: Iris learns to drink.
I will go with you! xD in all fairness it was an everyone welcome group. lolololol. drunk dungeoneering is fun when you go with people who won’t be bothered by your mess ups. Wine is good
I approve of this. Drunk dungeonnering is one of the best things. And wine is awesome, especially red wine.
On a dungeon fail note : my best drunk run was the one where everyone in the PuG was stoned/drunk and we cleared all of AC P1. Even the scepter room :>
Mhm… French red is my favorite! And being on voice is best.. I have spent years doing drunk/high raids with my friends on other games.. We used to raid in massive organized raids pvp.. my friends were quite the best raiders. I am usually the support and the spaz. I get lost in any game, it’s my mo and quirk. Anywho.. we would do late night raids where we would take down the entire camp and just keep going. Those are some of my favorite memories.
I think we should start a dungeon group for drunk-high players and organize runs! Perhaps Noob? I would help with that xD
Guys, stop making hot chicks! XD
Edit: I think I’m partially blamed for promoting sexiness recently. But seriously, what are you gonna do when your chick goes for a swim? Quagganize her, please!

ERP.. ahahahaha that’s a word that I didn’t expect from GW2. O.O
It’s always possible they were fed up with you at that point and HoB was just the last drop. Underperforming guardians can be the most frustrating thing in this game. Leaving shaite like staff auto attacking aside, running a dungeon run with a guardian and not getting a single WoR when it’s needed, missing aegis timing horrendously. Dying to conditions while the guard is happily sitting on his VoR cooldown watching his HP tick up little by little ect. can turn a saint into a demon. Trust me on this.
It’s easier for people to forgive a bad thief, or a bad ele, maybe even a bad warrior, but for god’s sake, no matter what you do, never EVER do badly as a guardian or ranger. People will eat you alive.
That’s true.. a bad guardian is terrible.
but he said in his previous post
“Ahaha :P I run full zerkers GS, Hammer, Sceptre/Focus for ranged and hybrid tank/dmg traits (can’t remember what exactly).”
So he seems to know what he’s doing.. and isn’t one of those cleric, AH staff camping guard. Regardless a kick of beginning of dungeon would be justifiable.. but almost at the end. I would have suffered through it. His use of HoB didn’t justify a kick imo.. if that is all he did to get the kick.
Lol, Mina. What an adventure!!! I should drink and do dungeons next time. Operation: Iris learns to drink.
I will go with you! xD in all fairness it was an everyone welcome group. lolololol. drunk dungeoneering is fun when you go with people who won’t be bothered by your mess ups. Wine is good
I was a bit drunk when I decided to do some dungeons. AC path 1 went fine.. although two people decided to duo Kohler at the end.. and I stayed since I was the instance owner. Got killed while trying to rez them. Kohler in the background kicking like ninja style and doing moves I haven’t seen on any boss.
But TA Up.. oi.. I somehow didn’t make one trash run. So I way pointed. A warrior asks for help in whisper, I told him to waypoint.. and we ran the wrong way.. I mean I ran the wrong way and he followed me back to the first wp. Then I ended up stepping on the spiders so they followed me to the group. After the party leader told us not to step on them. I swore I didn’t but anyways.. the kicker. I tried to melee the nightmare tree by myself and it stepped on me. I died.
I would agree that HoB probably isn’t the best elite skill but to be kicked for that.. after killing a boss is a bit harsh. Did it say speed run or something like that? Also if you are almost done, that’s just a crappy thing to do unless the person is intentionally trolling.. which maybe the party thought you were doing that, maybe?
Anyways, there are people who would abuse the system to be an * about it. Chalk it up to part of pugging. I didn’t think you would be bad for that.. I mean if you were contributing the whole time which from the sound of it.. you were.
I don’t like putting speed or zerk on my description. A guild mate put it up before I got a chance to asking for zerkers. We were doing pretty good damage, I mean I didn’t see any problem with it but one zerker commented on that one person wasn’t zerker and wasn’t doing enough damage. I have no idea what he was talking about since we were killing everything so quickly and then he comments on my guild mate being an engi. Mind you, this guild mate’s ap is around 1300 and he’s doing very well in them. Engi just happens to be his first toon. I so wanted to roll my eyes.. I think you will find the extreme people who take this way too seriously and can’t lighten up.
this is not a dungeon run but i present you the holy trinity
Soooooo cute <3 Asurans ftw
No idea what The Secret World is, but I was in the beta for ESO. It is the worst game of all time, no debate. Everything is terrible. The gameplay, the storyline, the graphics, the voice acting, etc, etc.
Plus, aside from Zhaitan I really like GW2. Earlier in the personal storyline it was a very good, well written story. I’ve cried twice. Nope, not ashamed to say I drew man tears at the deaths or Faolain (I’m Sylvari, so that hit me five times harder than most).
I agree ESO is terrible. I tested for beta and as much as I loved Skyrim.. I was very disappointed with this game. I think it’s difficult to translate a game like the Elder Scrolls to mmorpg and from the looks of it, they didn’t try very hard. The depth of Skyrim.. the stories, the sheer breathtaking visuals (I read that it was almost all hand painted), combat mechanics/complexity that you could only get with console controller.. is missing.
I didn’t realize Zhaitan is one of the elder dragon, he didn’t look very dragon-ish to me? I actually enjoyed the Arah story.. rest of the personal quest was meh. I did however get choked up when Magister Sieran dies. I wanted to kick Trehearne sparta style few times, I don’t know why.. he annoyed the kitten out of me.
(edited by layzoe.6035)
Full zerker requirement is usually for speed clear groups. Most casual players are against zerker and usually play how they want including builds and gears. You can pretty much get into any groups that isn’t looking for a speed clear with any build or gear. If you want efficient running, then of course everyone is expected to be in their meta build/gear.. otherwise you are being carried. This would hold true for any game. Leechers.. I do believe it’s what it’s called.
Perhaps because of the friendly community that GW2 has.. more so than other games I have played, it brings forth a sense of entitlement. After all, we don’t fight over resources, we are rewarded for reviving dead players, and we are suppose to be helpful. So when there’s expectations to join speed groups, some get offended by the idea that they must meet a certain requirement. They refuse to change their subpar build and gear yet be part of a group that works towards maximum efficiency. No one is really forcing them to change but they cry outrage because they can’t be part of a certain group calling them elitists and other things. Most so-called elitists I have met are very open, helpful, and love to share their knowledge with others.
No one is pigeon-holing anyone.. because you can get into most average groups with no gear check, nor the expectation of running a zerker gear a requirement. However, if you do want a speed run, then yes.. it’s to be expected. Which makes quite of bit of sense as it’s been proven that dps is the most optimal way right now in PVE. As for aggro, it’s randomly generated.. toughness can increase the chance you get the aggro.. but it’s not fail proof.. hence.. it’s hard to be an anchor or tank.
Ah this argument again.. there are so many other mmos that do this.. why not play them? The makers of GW2 have one that’s free to play. At least when I log into GW2, my chat isn’t spammed with.. looking for healer.. tank.. dps.. every second. The flexibility and the independence of each professional allows a group to play together without the vital missing trinity that would be quite limiting. It encourages interdependence rather than total dependence of having a certain class or profession on your team.
There are meta builds just like meta builds in any other games. No one is forced to use them but if you want to play optimally, then a player would choose such builds. This is not something new to GW2.
Let’s try that again. Minus my guild chat..
My current outfit. The credit goes to someone I met on my server [sorry I can’t remember your name]. This is a mix of the Flamewrath and the Phalanx that you can currently buy at the gem store. I am wearing the Flamewrath boots which looks like gladiator sandals. Dyes are icing and white gold. The vambrace is of course the radiant one. I am hiding the pauldrons and helmet.
I second this! It would be awesome to able to change builds with a click. That would help in changing from PVE to W vs W… or even certain build for different events.
And those are just the basics.
It’s actually difficult to master all the basics and make it a noticeable difference :P
Especially for the aegis. Like, I have known only 2-3 guardians who give me absolute joy to play with.
So true… I am not there yet.. playing a guardian is a tall order to fill.. People expect so much from a guardian. The aegis at right time is a tough one for me.. I am still learning that one.. also might stacking? And skipping trash mobs.. lolololol.. oh dear, I have stories with that one in Arah.
Wow.. you guys are a tough crowd to please.
If you have the fashion sense of Wethospu, that’s the only time I get displeased.
I am a total girl in that way
I have 4 sets of armor on my guard… and the panda hat for town clothing. I would have gotten more town clothing if it was available. I spend more money on dyes, clothing, and hair style change than I do on anything else.
O.o are you an actual girl or was that a… Never mind.
I enjoy fashion, but not because I’m a girl, but because that’s the real guild wars 2 endgame. Hehe.
Ahahahah yes I am a female gamer. I shouldn’t say girl but you know what I mean. Ah, I thought Legendaries was the endgame.. I just enjoy fashion period.
Aaand we totally derailed this thread.. Sorry op.
And those are just the basics.

Seem to be the case. Except for no communication prior to the engagement and at the expense of a total group annihilation.
Would have been fun to watch regardless… in expense of your time I am sure.. but would have been worth it. So does Horrik necro after you kill him. I always wondered what happened if you kill him first.
Funny moments of yesterday. Arah LFG always makes me smile.
Maybe they wanted the AP for killing Horrik.
The thing is that it is much easier to play a guardian terribly than an elementalist. You can see it in the guardian forum. Most still believe in dungeons and fractals, that guardian healing power with AH is the way to go.. even when told otherwise. They even counter-argue it, believing in their healing power and tanking is enough to bring to any group.
I rarely see a good guard in pugs. Lately, I have been on my mesmer so I get to see how other guardians play. Most don’t even use Wall of Reflection, even when I ask a guardian to use it.. they don’t. They don’t spam F1 nor use any utilities that help the group.. I rarely see a guard that uses a gs/s-f. Sometimes, I have to relog on my guardian because the one we have in our group is utterly useless. When played well and with some thought, the guardian can make the run seem effortless.. but most that I have seen slow the group down. Meanwhile, they think they are carrying the group with their uber heal and tankiness.
My best friend plays an Engi, sadly.. he doesn’t play GW2 anymore.. anyways, we used to do dungeons together when he was.. and he never died. Although he’s an above average player who’s an avid gamer. I wouldn’t say it’s a best class for dungeons though. He is a pvp-er and that’s where Engi’s supposedly shined. Could literally one-shot other players or so he said.

Only thing about guard is that there isn’t a lot of swiftness boons so you are slow which I would think would matter if you are farming mats. Warriors at least have the warhorn that has a low cooldown. For pure farming, I think warrior would be better for the heavy class. It has much higher health pool than the guardian too.
There’s 3 swiftness boons if I recall correctly, meaning that you can have swiftness like 80% of the time.
I do most of my farming with my guardian, only because it’s got all the waypoints. I mainly use greatsword for clearing mobs. And sword/focus for single target or up to 3-4 foes. The blink is pretty cool, plus the blinds help reduce incomings (and the focus #5 skill for extra blocking)
Oh really.. can you tell me which ones.. because I only know of one.. the retreat.. most of the time I am banging my head against my desk because she’s too slow.
Blink? Are you talking about sword 2 and Judges Intervention because blink is a mesmer utility.
The optimal coordinated groups include few Elementalists…
The pugs prefer guardians but lately I have seen no guards probably due to staff parking, no reflecting guards who wear clerics and run AH builds.
Also, if you decide to run a zerker guard, you would be as squishy as an elementalist. Maybe a little more toughness due to the heavy armor but not that much.
Personally, I would pick based upon your play style and what you prefer. Elementalist has like 4 different panels to play with.. it’s like piano playing as some players have mentioned. Guards, I do think you have to use strategy which is what appeals to me.
But right now Eles ftw.. it’s a hot class atm. That may change in the future..
I can teach whatever starting in 3 hours. If people are up ?
I would love to but unfortunately, I am in NA
I so wish they had international guesting.
The hammer build is sweet, if a little boring since you do nothing but just spam 1 and occasionally press 2 to do damage. But it’s great!
hrm.. that sounds pretty sweet actually. I can honestly say that I haven’t picked up the hammer yet on my guard. I guess it’s time. Can I come too. haha 3 hammer guards in fractals, the travesty.
You don’t need to stack, if anything, stacking with a bunch of low dps low level characters is going to be much harder.
Well, this applies to any boss really.. no one needs to stack but do for a faster and smoother run with less chance of a wipe. But perhaps you are right, for lower levels without dps, range on her might be better.
AC is quite difficult due to the fact the Queen Spider is a wipe for most parties that don’t know how to mitigate the damage. You have to stack in a certain corner and do not move one bit otherwise you trigger her deadly lethal poison.
You dont have to stack in a certain corner to avoid the aoe, any corner works. In fact you dont need to stack in a corner at all, you just need to stay in melee range. You can also move around as much as you want as long as you stay in melee range, the queen will not use the poison aoe. Reason people stack in that corner is because its easy, convenient and gets all spider adds on a single spot. Youre just giving fuel to the people who think stacking is the devil itself if you make it sound like stacking renders the queen completely helpless.
I run this path almost every time I log in to play GW2 and mostly pug it. Even in melee range, there have been instant wipes once the players start moving around. When instructed not to move, we get the job done. So that’s my take on it from personal experience. I rarely did it ranged because this was what was shown to me in AC. I think we tried it range very few times in all the times I ran this dungeon and it didn’t go any better, so I stick with the stacking method. So do almost all the runs I have been in. And while any corner might work, there is one corner which is optimal.. the reason that almost all dungeon groupings that I have been in use it and doesn’t deviate from it.
And I never said she’s helpless… don’t misconstrue my words nor imply my meaning.
Oh yes, the troll.. we finished the AC story finally. A friend in our group had the bright idea to kill him afterwards just for fun. We tried and failed three times. He’s one hard dude to take down. Two in the party had left by then so it was only three of us, but still, our butts got handed to us until we said kitten it.
Also, spiders I assume does poison damage. It’s been awhile since I did story. You would probably need a condition cleanser which your guard would have by now. Use greatsword 2 and 4 to take down the mini spiders, wall of reflection with this should be good.
