Hey guys, this is an idea that came to me at work and felt like sharing. I know a lot of ppl are worried about the upcoming ‘AoE nerf’ and how it might affect their favorite profession. I think this method would be fair for all classes:
Basically when you use an aoe skill the system looks at the maximum range of the skill and dynamically affect the damage as follows-
1 target in range: 50% dmg (glancing)
2 targets in range: 60% dmg
….
5 targets in range: 100% dmg (normal dmg).
Every time an aoe skill ticks it calculates the damage based on the number of targets in the effective distance. I also heard there are plans to bring single target dmg up to par. My suggestion for that is to increase the damage based on the number of foes near the target. E.g: 0-4 other nearby foes the target doesn’t take extra dmg (so people running with just a party are not affected). For every number of foes more than 4 the target takes 1% extra damage from single target skills, with a cap of about 10%. I think both these systems would affect all professions equally and also discourage zerging in wvw.
