My Guild Wars 2 Review

Go in game and watch. Take a look at how many players are farming dynamic events in Cursed Shores; compare that to how many players are just playing in any other map in the game. Try to find a group for story mode in a dungeon that is not farmed, and compare that to finding a group for CoF path 1. See how many players do the Dragon events, and then tell me how many players you see just exploring the world.

All those examples make it clear that grinders are in very higher numbers than real players. This has a very clear impact on ArenaNet – Ascended gear is just a huge grind, Fractals are basically a huge grind, the loudest complaint in the forum a while ago was about the lack of drops, etc, etc.

MMORPGs have been designed to cater to grinders (and that is actually a fact, not just my opinion, unlike most other things I have said here). The original Guild Wars had less of a focus on grind, at least until GW:EN. GW2 is catering to grinders, and as such it has a community of addicts, who care more about their next “fix” than about having fun. Like I said above, it’s a pity that ArenaNet made a game in which it’s so easy to play with other people, and then filled it with people you don’t want to play with.

I found what causes problem wit white textures.
It is new option for Anisotropic Filtering called “Best texture filtering”. Make it off and white textures wont show up anymore.

But for, FPS drops with Vsync on i didn’t found solution.

It’s only happened to me on the 310.x and doesn’t happen now on the 306.97 drivers. I’ve tried every 310 release since October, but only first noticed the issue in the FOTMs. After every new 310 release I installed them and tested, only to see it was still an issue. Every time I rolled back to the 306.97 drivers the issue disappeared.

I’m speaking specifically about the white flashing objects, not about FPS drops. I haven’t had issues with my FPS dropping, personally.

All i know is that fps drops and buged objects with white texture didn’t existed before this “Flame and frost” patch.

Has anyone else have this problem? _Certain things become white from certain angles. _Which makes it annoying because it becomes flashing as I run.

Most notably, the ropes in the Cliffside fractals. For level 10> fractals, we have to run through the ramp at the right side of the cliff after whacking the archdiviner for the first time. It is populated with veteran mobs. For me, it will sometimes turn white and then back and white again as I run. When I stand still and move my screen, certain angle causes it to be white.

The icicles in Snowblind fractal, that are hanging from the houses as we kill the ice elemental that is causing the blizzard, also turns white.

Certain bases of the house in Gendarran field also turns white.

I never had this problem up till a few patches ago. Does anyone else have this problem?

I am sorry for the lack of pictures and more hardware information. I am currently accessing this from my laptop. I play gw2 on my desktop. I will post more information after I get home.

I have the same problem.

The game run great before last patch “Flame and Frost”. When i downloaded it i noticed that FPS drastically drops when i open hero window panel. FPS drops from 60 to 30 when i open it, and when i close hero window it goes back to 60fps.

So i turned VSYNC – OFF, and the problem was gone. I thought that i need to insatl new graphic drivers, so i done that but the problem was still there.

When i played Fractals in the same location Cliffside, ropes and some other stuff was clear white, like there is no texture on them. I was palying with VSYNC ON, that time, so i turned it OFF and there was no more white objects without texture.

I repeat that this was not happening before “Flame and frost” patch. I was playing all time with VSYNC ON and i had no problem with “white objects” and UI causing FPS drops.

Now i must play with screen tearing. :\

It’s an issue with the 310 drivers. Every 310 release nvidia has mad has the issue. Reading what Elitepug has wrote, the issue is still there in the 313 betas. Hopefully ANet gets with them and asks them what they’re changing to cause the issue.

It’s not 310 problem. First i was playing “Flame and frost” patch with 306 nVidia graphic drivers and problem was there – FPS drop when i open hero panel. Than i instaled new 310 drivers and problem was still there.
Before patch i had no problems.

Clarification on the Star icon UI

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

A number of people have asked what the star icon, underneath the new Daily Achievement UI, in the upper right corner is. The star is related to the week long paid PvP tournament change, but wasn’t supposed to be displayed. It will be fixed in the next patch.

I thought that it was for new “living story” quest.

OK. Now, please, make option to turn that pvp notification on/off. I don’t play PVP that much, so i don’t wan’t to see any notification in that area of the screen, only events “quest log”.
Same thing would be nice to do with daily “quest log”. Please, make it optional. For me is not hard to enter hero window and click on achievements.

Keep UI clear, don’t put unnecessary things on screen.

FOV (Field of View) Changes Beta Test - Feedback Thread

This is a great start, now finish the job!

- point the camera at the HEAD instead of the center of the back
(so we’re not staring at the ground when zoomed out, and our backs when zoomed in)

- allow people to zoom to first person.
(so we can enjoy the game without breaking the eula)

I aggre, camera should be pointing at the head. Camera in general is problematic and to aggressive, my head hurts. Every small object in the game that stands in between player and camera cause problem – camera zooming to fast, way to fast. And when it is zoomed i see only back of my character.
Example: when you running up the stairs, camera zooms because the fence on the stairs is blocking the way. That fence isn’t 1m tall and it cause problem. Not to mention camera behavior in enteriers.

Please point it at head, make it more flexible and smooth so that don’t zoom on every small barrier.

And we need slider for FOV. Min 65 and max 100 or 95.
