Easily distracted mes—SQUIRREL!
GOM
That’s pretty much it, GM—it’s tricky to see the wave to time your jump right.
I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
“Better than moon boots!”
I have two main characters: one mesmer, one ranger. I don’t do many dungeons (that’s going to have to change if I want to get my legendary, kitten it), or much group play—solo PvE, play in WvW at times, sometimes in a zerg, sometimes just roaming.
Both classes are fun for me, depending on what mood I’m in. Like Mystic upthread, when I’m on my mesmer, I make heavy use of those shatter skills; the ranger char swaps between longbow and shortbow (mostly longbow). Mesmer’s protected by all the clones/phantasms and evasion; ranger’s protected by range and evasion. When I started, I found the mesmer a great class—lately, though, I’ve found myself enjoying the ranger more.
There’s a PVP section a bit further down in the forums, plus a section for each profession. Either of those might net you more responses.
I play a ranger, but don’t PVP, so I can’t really help you out
Ah, thank you! That was driving me crazy.
I’ve just taken a character with a soul-bound bone pick to a Black Lion Weapons Specialist to have it made account-bound—but the option’s not there any more. The only dialogue is “Where do I get tickets and ticket scraps?”, “Tell me about new weapons opportunities” and “Show me what you’ve got”. If you have soul-bound gathering tools equipped, there’s supposed to be a fourth, offering to switch to account-bound.
Anyone else seeing (or not seeing) this?
Well, that’s a bugger. That’s the one pair of diving goggles I haven’t got to yet.
I’ve got Dawn of the Season and Mists Invasion Defender showing as completed, but only 1 of 15 showing for the season track. Anyone else?
Thank you
(15 chars.)
It’s driving me nuts—the voice for Edrick Thorne sounds very familiar, either in game or out of it, but I can’t work out who. Who is it and have they voiced anyone else in GW2?
I’ve been using my user page on the wiki to keep track of assorted stuff like this.
I’m not sure if this is the best place, as it’s about the Twitch TV channel rather than the game, but let’s see what happens.
The Twitch TV channel is a great asset: I can’t always be online to watch the dev livestreams due to time difference, so being able to catch up on them later is great. However, finding them is a bit of a PITA due to the way they’re labelled.
In the channel display (see the attachment), you’ve only got about 36 characters (including spaces) in the “headline” field, and not much more in the secondary teaser line below.
On most videos on the channel page at the moment, the headline starts off with “Guild Wars 2 Developer Livestream wi…” and that’s where it auto-truncates. You can’t see from the headline what the video is about.
Most of the teaser fields are just as bad. A few are good—Izzy’s most recent one a few hours ago at least gets “PvE eleme” in before the auto-truncate, but a lot of the others are “Anthony Ordon plays through our newest gui…” or “Theo Nguyen, with help from Jake Miller, sh….”
Most of them, there’s not even a poster frame to give you a clue.
I know Twitch sets the defalts—but use the space you’ve got effectively. “Elementalist guide with GW2 dev” is shorter and gets the key info up front, where it won’t be truncated. “Tackling Canach, solo & group, with Theo Nguyen” is the same length as “Theo Nguyen, with help from Jake Miller, sh” and gets the important stuff up front.
And poster frames are great if Twitch allows ’em
To the OHai ele between Rogues and Wildcreek a little while ago: man, I don’t know what you eat for breakfast but talk about tough. 2 of us, couldn’t put a dent in you.

“…programmed with the most tragic backstory ever…”
+1 for this from me too.
All my chars have the same surname, which reduces the difficulty a bit. For the forename, I try to find something that seems vaguely related to species or in keeping with canon names: Rrala Varss for a charr, Lilli Varss for a sylvari. All of the Varss sisters except for Lilli end in “a” as well—that tends to be a more female/feminine sound to me.
The sole exception is Terminally Depressed, who I created as a bit of a joke; she’s got that runny-mascara face, which looks a bit emo, hence the name. I didn’t expect her to actually stick around.
I just ran it again: the organ is working, but no achievement. Read books in order, without interruption; no achievement popping up.
Maybe there’s a time limit as well…
Yeah, the comments on the discussion page saying it seems to have gone are pretty recent—the last ten days or so.
Over in the wiki, there’s some discussion about whether the Speedy Reader achievement still exists or if it got lost recently.
I’ve just run through and read all of the Founding books, but no achievement medal and no change to numbers.
Not a big deal, obviously, but there’s some speculation about it on the discussion page, and it’s be nice to get something definite.
Disconnect-at-the-end-of-Lost-Shores-Event-Read-this
… If this is anything to go by, only people who were at the final boss will get a reward, which is fair enough. But what about hundreds of others like me, who never even got to that part because we were all foolishly repeating the event chain in vain for hours, over and over and over again in several overflows after being either disconnected or having our game crash? I WISH I could have gotten to the boss, I TRIED my hardest to for hours, but it just didn’t work out for me. I hope people in my situation will also get some consideration from Anet.
This exactly. I’m Australian, so it was starting at 7am my time. Planned to head into work a bit late, so I could do as much of it as I could, maybe even the whole thing, and lo, couldn’t even get near it. So, since I wasn’t at the end, probably not even going to get whatever make-good Anet might eventually offer.
The chest at the end doesn’t actually mean that much to me (though the 20-slot bag would be nifty). I don’t go for legendary weapons, high end armour etc, I’m a relatively casual player. I like the interactive/cooperative nature of PvE here, and that’s what I was looking forward to most of all: the chance to play in a group with everyone.
What actually happened has been pretty well detailed: problems in the whole Lost Cause thing from the get-go, culminating in a great big charlie fox at the end. People that were actually there—that actually made it to the end—will get a make-good, but those who weren’t… I really can’t tell. That announcement only covers those who couldn’t open the chest, not those who couldn’t even get into combat.
GW1 ran special events pretty well—finales once every few hours so that, no matter where you are in the world, you could get to it, because not everyone can make it to a one-time event. This really wasn’t up to par.
Yup. I didn’t get another waypoint aside from Lion and Pride without logging out and logging back in.
Ditto for me on the lack of waypoints. Any active waypoints except the original two (Lions and Pride) were disappeared. I’ve spent half an hour trying to get to the event: because other events were still running, one of the main bridges is out (or hasn’t been built yet, for example), and then logged out. Logged back in, and the Camp Karka waypoint is back. Not fun, ANet.
