No speed boon for thieves?

I want to see an Ele who can attune to water every 1 second. The shortest CD for it is 10 or 9. Enough time to apply pressure to make the nervous.

The point here that eles are more mobile then thieves at the moment, the devs even addressed this themselves in the sotg.

A cool dancing dagger would have its damage upped heavily and on throwing the skill would change to a shadowstep move which you can trigger to teleport to each target (first press takes you to first target, second to second etc etc)

Increased damage would be to make up for the lack of being able to hurl a couple of them (or even make it so the shadowstep involves a swift stab for low to moderate damage)

course it would have to cost a fair whack of initiative else thieves would never be able to be pinned down

that said it will never happen

I like the “on key press to shadow step” idea but I don’t agree with the extra damage or multi-stepping, like if you used dancing dagger on something, the skill hit, then it would flip to a shadow step for lets say 1.5 seconds then flip back to dancing dagger, having this, there would be no real need for increasing the damage and multi-stepping just seems a bit OP, this would make it an awesome catching/retreating skill, as it apply a cripple as well, and the already 4in cost would be worth it, yay for more mobility!

Also it’s cool, because if you get immobilized you could use this, kinda like how I use steal, or swap to SB sometimes when I am immo to get some distance and by the time my opponent gets to me it has wore off.

" I almost never use a doge roll out side of battle "

I use the dodge so often for swiftness that I now do it on my other characters even when running through Lion’s Arch, just out of habit.

I do that as well, I mean if I am in wvw actually doing something that I may need my endurance for, I’m really trying to get out of the habit of dodge rolling for positioning or just because I can, and trying to watch for my opponents big hit moves or immobilize skills as these have very noticeable animations ie: the guardians hammer immo, this has greatly increased my 1v1 wins and also my 1vx as well, there’s nothing more satisfying then dodging an immo or big hit skill and putting it on cd for your opponent.

@Daecollo: Clearly a typo…

Outclassed it mobility by Elementalists? We are significantly faster. Though, they do posses great mobility as well. Remember, ANet is buffing out mobility even more!

Have you ever tried to catch one of those buggers, if they want to gtfo, they are going to do it, and there’s nothing you can do to stop them, at least with the d/d all the boons in the world all the time for ever set up.

Are you new to thief? You really don’t understand just how speedy thieves are…

Thrill of the crime – 10 points into trickery. Gain fury, might, !!!swiftness!!! when you steal (regardless if you have a target or not).

Fleet shadow – move 50% (that’s faster than swiftness) while invis.

Assassin’s retreat – gain swiftness every time you kill something

And then there’s the signet and healing/stealing gives vigor so added dodges (esp with dodging gives swift). There’s also sbow 5 for free shadowsteps, a shadowstep on steal, the skill shadowstep and roll for initiative for that massive distance mover (takes practice to use it as a gap closer) which gives you more initiative for more shadowsteps.

With all of these things you should NEVER be left wanting for mobility or swiftness

Also with the stealing giving boons traits, you give everyone around you fury, might, swift, and vigor for 10s. It’s pretty kitten strong.

Though all of those are very good points, it does not still address the fact that indeed, thieves are out classed in mobility by elementalists, and how we go about getting swiftness is all pretty gimmicky, using up a valuable resource such as our endurance to gain a few seconds of swiftness is not all that great, I almost never use a dodge roll out side of battle as it’s so vital for fighting as a thief (looking at all this from a pvp perspective) using your steal just to gain some swiftness is also a pretty lame tactic, who want’s to wast a gap closer (if you’re a melee thief) just to move a little faster, again steal as gotten me many kills and also gotten me out of a many of deaths, just stealing to a near by mob or incoming invader puts a lot of distance and confusion as to where you went in those 1vx situations, and not every one traits for such.

Fleet shadow – does not actually make you move 50%, as the 130% movement cap, and with the new stealth changes this will be less useful.

Assassin’s retreat – is a completely useless trait in pvp, and in pve from my point of view, if this was a crit skill, that say gave you swifness for 10 seconds with a 30% proc chance and a 45 second cool down, that would be alright, or even better yet, do what that skill actually seems like it might be meant to do, replace last refuge with fleet shadow, when you hit 50% HP you gain swiftness for 10 seconds on a 45 second cool down, that would solve some QQ about LR and give you some needed movement in the heat of battle (though it does not really seem fit in the shadow arts line)

Lots of other classes have perma-swiftness, so why not the “most mobile class”? I mean they did give our signet to other classes, I am not saying that’s a bad thing but making other classes more mobile takes away from some of the mobility the thief should be having, just some thoughts.

Binding The Mouse Wheel In GW2

At first I was like “you can already do that” but then I re-read and better understood what you were referring to. Well done. I won’t use this personally because I like the zoom on the wheel way too much but for those that don’t, this would be perfect for them.

If anyone is concerned with this program…don’t be. I’ve been using it since it first came out like a decade ago and use it with the utmost of confidence. It’s easy to use, low profile and efficient.

You can still keep the zoom on the mouse wheel by binding the zoom keys (that are found in game for key binds) to alt+6/7 which in this case would be the mouse wheel as well, so pressing alt+mouse wheel up would result ikittenoom, I mean how often do you need to zoom in an and out.

Ehmm i do zoom in and out quite a lot, althoguh not of the gameworld, but on the map, both the mini-map and the big world map.

And yeah i dont use this, though sound a lot like what my G500 mouse drivers can do by itself, not using the scroll thiough as i love it too much on the map as i said, but do have my dodge bound to tipping my mousewheel to the right(which my drivers thinks im actually pressing the V key), makes for a fast reaction possibilty there much better than any key on the keyboard can give me

Yeah I can get that, a lot of people like there zooms, ahah

I don’t think I would ever bind my dodge to any of the mouse keys, I use mouse wheel up as my auto attack skill, shift mouse wheel up as my cloak & dagger and mouse wheel down as my heal.

my dodge is shift+space bar, a lot of people think I am weird for this, but it just works so well I find.

Update:
-added an option to pause the script well ingame/out of game by pressing the F1 key
- added an option to close the script well ingame/out of game by pressing the F2 key

I have been seeing/reading a lot of requests for there to be an option to bind the mouse wheel to a hot key, and until this is added in I found very easy work around to do this for people that don’t have binding options built into there mouse, I use a very simple program to do this, it’s called AutoHotkey, this is in now way a macro or “playing the game for you” and I have been using this since I have started paying guild wars 2 back in the beta tests, all it does is change your mouse wheel up to act as if you where pressing the 6 key on the keyboard and mouse wheel down as if you where pressing the 7 key, the same goes for adding in a modifier so shift+6/7 will work as well.

So let’s get started, first off you have to download and instal AutoHotkey which you can get from here http://www.autohotkey.com/

After that is done just download the attached .txt file I have included in this post and rename it with .ahk rather then .txt and double click.

Once you have download the .txt file open it with AutoHotkey and it will start running the script, you can of course edit the 6 and 7 keys to be what ever you want, if you already have binds for those.

Open guild wars 2 and change your hot keys to what ever you want, I recommend changing your zoom in and out hot keys as well to something like alt+6/7 so you can still zoom with the mouse wheel as well.

Hope this was some help.

The ele skill has some usefulness to it but it’s kinda meh as it is, I suggest keeping the chill but loweing the duration to something like 7-8 seconds of chill and rather you steal a melee skill it would be something like the eles ice bow, so you would get a 900 ranged 7 second chill, pretty good right, not so lame now.
