Yeah curtain can be sketchy if you put distance between yourself and someone from higher ground. I just love the usefulness can apply retal to self our group w/ blast, can interupt people from finishing teammate, pulling people off walls/clidds, reflect wall which has helped with rezzing downed teammates(don’t wanna use feedback on own team lol save it for the enemy!). Warden is another one which is reliable in certain situations but if there is aoe its useless other than to shatter him asap.
I just felt more in a grove when using this setup vs staff but we all have different play styles.
Yeah I don’t run with zergs usually guild runs so 10-15 at most vs zergs.

Yeah aoe does suck for the warden when at gate or taking fort/keep. Vs Open field zerg I’ve never found it a issue and I do enjoy his reflection. I do miss the staff for the chaos armor which I liked but on a 35s CD 5s duration I decided to go with focus to reflect dmg back to target every 20s w/ curtain & have retal giving dmg on receiving dmg as well as the confusion stacks(from glams). I mainly went this setup due to our server being the small kid on the block and we’re always outnumbered so with the reflecting wall I would reflect all incoming damage to group vs applying confusion to people who target me only with chaos armor.
It’s just a slight change in playstyle and has been working out well for me since dropping the staff.

As for lower condition I just jumped in game and at 1525 and 1775 w/corruption stack. My main is a cond duration engi and I went that route cause looking at the math from posts 50% duration > 300 condition dmg in output. So 100% duration with 175 less cond dmg from your numbers. I know you will get bigger ticks for 5s.. and I will get slightly lower ticks but for 10s.
Now I know my ticks are slightly lower but I always pair up warden(Whirl finisher = Confounding bolts) when I drop null/feedback so I actually apply more ticks than you which last longer than yours and doesn’t require the target to move in/out of the feedback/null(which with temporal curtain you can force them in/out if you liked).
Retaliation is just an extra utility for me which I don’t rely on for dmg as you suggested.
As I mentioned givers is broken atm so I don’t get that 20%(I get 33%20%40%) so if I spent my tokens on cof weapons that would be 90 cond per weapon(180) pushing me past your numbers atm. I am just not willing to buy new sigils etc and keeping my current weapons for the fix.

I use a slightly different setup for my glamour build than most people so I’ll share it with ya.
I gave up my staff for sword/focus. I did this for 3 reasons;
- Two stacks of retaliation from curtain/illusionary leap to mae best of my power/vitality on armor.
- Temporal Curtain to reflect damage back to target(and swiftness & pulling foes off walls/cliffs etc).
- Phantasmal warden combo finisher which I cast before my glamours so I get more stacks of confusion with confounding bolts hitting enemies in larger area(instead of just relying on them entering/leaving area).
I am lacking on any range 900 but I’m not a ranger so don’t play like I’m a ranged toon. I haven’t found that a problem with people running away with illusionary leap and/or knock down with temporal curtain. If you get into a melee range with war/thief you have safety of escape with either sword 2 + Blink, Prestige and run/blink out, Elite mass invis + run and/or blink. 1v1 I usually find scept/torch is easy enough to handle most but I do use sword/focus for retaliation/snare, 2s invul, knockdown mainly if I have things on cooldown.
Durtaion +33% trait, + 20% trait tree, +20% weapons, +36% Food. 109% so reached the 100% cap to double duration of cond.
- Givers weapons are broken & so are cond duration runes I currently use Undead since they were cheap but Im aiming for boon duration runes to up my retaliation duration & regen from phantasm.

Hey guys I’ve read a little on might stacking and able to get 10stacks I’m just wondering if/how you’ve gotten stacks higher?
F4 -> E5 -> E4 -> AB.. I’m just curious how some ele’s rotate to always have higher stacks.

I run a 20 I VIII / 30 II VIII XI / 15 III / 0 / 5 Condition trap build. Solo roaming I’m not tanky enough to with attrition but with the amount of trap dmg & duration I more often than not come out alive. Small groups I always keep my distance and very close attention to keeping that 1200 distance anything close and I drop traps around me for annoying thieves or d/d ele rtl etc Large scale I do fine as piercing shots shine in that type of fight and traps keep from being pushed you just have to have a cyclic movement of in drop traps and back out let group regens hit you. For melee I use sword/torch(whichI swap in warhorn as needed to get a 3rd trap on bar for keep defense etc).

I don’t see these big hits with prybar but thats prolly cause I’m not +power build but I do love my confusion ticks As for the rest of them the aoe cripple/bleed I rarely use it since I don’t care for the 1s cast I’d rather 1/2s targetable immob or use the toolbelt throw wrench. The shield I don’t use often enough because 25%h elixirS tells me to get the hell outta there lol Magnet is handy but I don’t pull people from walls I use it more of an interupt.

I’ve been having fun with the build albeit I haven’t played much this past week so I haven’t noticed the broken runes.
I watched a Interview recently where they seemed concerned with “bandwidth” from conditions so I’m going to guess this won’t be on their priority to fix.. Imagine the uproar and promptness of their fix if crit/power were broken! lol

Hello everyone,
My first character was an Engineer and shelved it due to lack of decent builds and constant disabling/nerfing Anet seems to do. I have an 80 in every class except Guardian/Necro and with every new character I kept feeling how lacking my engi was. So I decided to dust off the engi and make a new build because I truly wanted to play this class since beta. It took me a little while to save up the karma & gold for gear but I am really impressed with this build and actually enjoy playing my engi again. So I decided to share it
My playstyle is more ranged but when melee happens I concus bomb and/or Tk3 then big bomb then get back to ranged. I don’t provide much if any support on this character.
My Skill slots are Med Kit(lone cond removal), Bomb Kit(confusion although I sometimes swap for asuran racial), Tool Kit(confusion & cripple), Elixir S(Saves your butt lol).
As you can see its a high crit condition built with long condition durations;
- 90%- Confusion/Poison/Burns
- 105% Bleeds(4.1s important since it ticks once a second so you want to hit higher even number)
With the high crit and traited into incendiary powder I find my burns are up 100% of the time on target(708tick) . Bleed stacks average low 6 usual 8-9 high 12-14 on target(118 Tick). Poison (234tick). I know the ticks aren’t maxed out as there are higher condition builds but I went with longer conditions. Confusion lasts 4 1/2 on p3, 7 1/2 on Tk3 and 7 1/2 Bk3(or 7 1/2 on both asuran racials but they are on 30s/45s CD but do have 360 range vs 180 range with bomb) and I have seen 4365ticks (12stack). Pistol autoshot crits are 264-290dmg 1/2s recharge & explodes and hits multi(Yes your little sister probably hits harder).
Why no Napalm Specialist for burn duration to 110% vs 90%? I found I was keeping burns on target constantly without it so longer range was a better option for this setup. (Same reason I don’t run with flamethrower or Rocket Boots etc for extra burns) Remember burns don’t stack intensity they just stack duration.
Why bomb kit? Cause when they get close big ol bomb & concussion comb.
Why the hell haven’t I taken 10 out of firearms and put it into explosives for larger radius and shorter recharge? Because I like ranged gameplay which is why I went high crit for Incendiary Powder to keep up 100% burn uptime. I also like piercing shot vs zergs since I target someone in mid vs front so shot damages more people & applies mode bleed stacks. (If you like to be in the thick of things I’ll add a different build link at end you may prefer.)
Why not rifle?
- With dual pistol you can apply bleeds/poison/confusion/burn/cripple/immobilize/blindnes vs Bleed/vulnerability/immobilize with rifle. Remember long ago(can’t remember patch) they made changes to some condition removers instead of remove all they remove one only.
- When you siege and there are defenders on the wall you get an annoying LoS unless they are standing ontop ledge. With a pistol you don’t have that problem as the explosive shot will explode and hit the defender behind the ledge.
PS. If I am at all inaccurate with duration times let me know but everything was added up via increase from trait/runes/weapons/food.

I’d swap from Rabid to Carrion on armor & trinkets. Runes I’d change to 2xS.Monk 2xS.Water 2xM.Sanctuary Giving you 90% boon duration and 80% poison/confusion/poison/bleed duration + lots of vitality. Sigils Corruption & Energy.
Faster & bigger bombs, Faster & longer durations on boons, 2 Blocks, 2 knockbacks! Also for your up&close fighting this build has retaliation which pairs nicely with the +power on Carrion gear.
Why longer boons instead of max condition duration? Higher boon duration since they are 5s/10s/30s/ and 90% would make 9.5s/19s/57s(not sure max duration for might?). With this build you gave up incendiary powder so you aren’t doing 100% uptime on burn anyway.. Yes bleed could have still been 4ticks(4.1s) vs 3ticks(3.6s) but you are gaining so much more with the boons imo.
I apologize if build is a copy of someone else on forum but I haven’t kept up on this forum since Big Fancy Ben released his awesome ZerkerNade Static Discharge build in Sept.

Just remember we are STILL recovering from losing A LOT of our guilds and WvW presence recently, starting back when WM left. Give us some time to recover from that. This is still a very delicate time for ALL servers, so consider that.
And because of this, a lot of people are still QQing about all the server transfers right now.
We lost WM a few weeks ago and haven’t shown any signs of bouncing back infact its been the opposite SBI has fallen apart. It’s rare to see a EB que at all even at prime time I think only time there has ever been a que was reset friday and even then 1/4 of the people in are trolls sabotaging any potential we might have had. The thing is the trolls are enjoying themselves annoying anyone left so it’s not going to be a problem that goes away.
My advice is don’t go down with this sinking ship and go elsewhere if you enjoy and play the game for wvw. Just remember top tier servers are already complaining about the high lvl of que times an not being able to w3 as a guild or with friends(remember those 1+ hr wait times or even longer). So choose make your choice wisely before you do take the plunge.

SBI was competitive but it’s discouraging when you have 2-3 commanders who camp a jumping puzzle & bleed all supplies from the keep to build golems @ the JP chest and accomplish nothing.
Imo SBI is mostly left with people who hope it gets better(but won’t) and trolls. More than likely it will drop in population down to the 4th bracket and be competitive vs non 40man zerg servers. To the people that are leaving for SoR,JQQ I hope you enjoy the que times(which honestly on release made a lot more people quit this game than anything else).
