TC won because of the yak parade. Other factors were possibly involved, too.

Servers still maintain their same true rankings, and a lower server can still gain significant points against a higher ranked server just by not getting beaten ‘too horribly’, whereas that higher ranked server would really have nowhere to go but down when fighting a (much) lower server.

The randomness may indeed lead to matches that are just super blowouts and not fun at all, but I’m willing to give this system a chance. It sounds like the best one they can implement, particularly for tiers where the matches are just never even anyway. We’ve been lucky in T2 with relatively even matches over the past few weeks, but most tiers aren’t this tight..

I concur with JaredKincade. After playing DAOC, where certain servers were constantly unbalanced, I thought GW2’s system would be perfect. But, predictably (in hindsight), it leads to a different kind of boring match.

That said, when you are in a tier where all 3 servers are at least fairly close and they are all trying, it is fun. However, I’ve jumped servers 4 or 5 times, and being on an endless roflstomp server is fun for about a week. Similarly, being on a horribly losing server is.. not really fun, although maybe I was taking it too seriously

BUT, as Jared says, now, if an undermanned/underskilled server comes up against a big fella, they can still gain points simply by continually pushing and not getting utterly stomped, WHICH I think people will be more inclined to try because it is a new, fresh matchup, rather than fighting ‘that same unbeatable server over and over’.

All in all, I think this is the best system ArenaNet can implement.. but.. let’s find out

On the wiki at wiki.guildwars2.com, all the traits list pages are broken one way or the other. It’s been like this since last night sometime. i.e. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_ranger_traits or http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_necromancer_traits

I went through the ‘recent changes’ list and didn’t see anything obvious, and looking at one of the trait templates didn’t see anything.. but I’m not a super wiki expert.

Thank you ArenaNet. This change has made WvW much more enjoyable. Being able to see everyone at once, and not have some of them fade in/out pseudo-randomly, makes for a much more amazing (and often chaotic) game experience. Overall, it is all more fun. Now I just need to learn how to WvW again without dying all the time (when to run, when to fight..).

I enjoy cream of chicken soup.

I bandwagonned onto TC about 3 weeks ago for the yaks, the RP, and the general sense of light-hearted fun. I’ve been on T1 servers and while they have a lot of people, it generally felt too serious for me.

Thus far I am greatly enjoying TC’s general atmosphere, both inside and out WvW, and enjoying trying various builds and things I haven’t tried in GW2 before.

So far, so good! I’ve been having fun in the DB BL, with DB putting up spirited defenses at their garrison and that one tower in the west, and my build tweaking is happening at a glorious rate as I run into this and that, people trying to kill me, or something.

I don’t think I killed anything other than the champion, and I don’t think the champion does any knockbacks.

All right, so I did actually beat this, basically by cheesing it.. I’m not sure if a non-mesmer could do it.

I stood on the tilted beam just off the champ’s platform and summoned high-DPS phantasms until the champ died (pretty quickly, actually). I was nearly dead at the end but it worked

I concur. I am trying to do this quest now as a level 78 mesmer and it is impossible. Trahearne etc all died within a minute and now I’m just cannon fodder as krait explode for 8k damage and toss me all around the tower (and often, off of it and into deadly water).

I’ve done this quest before, and I remember it was easy.. a bit long as Trahearne slowwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyy walked along the long walkways, but easy
