You forgot the Away From Keyboard-DragonBall. Players just standing there, and getting participation credit while their unwilling ‘teammates’ are helpless to do anything at all about it.

Holo Bunnies? Are you serious? I remember the SAFunBox. Those Bunnies were vicious, and all I had to kill them with was a dull toothpick. These things are so pathetic I could sneeze and not even notice they’d popped.

I’m not sure about Champs. Maybe in the higher areas, but for the majority the areas are lower lvl ones. I know, they provide a challenge to higher lvl characters. I understand. However, on the flip side, do we really need another Champion Krait set loose in the lake, like in Caledon Forest? No one will ever go kill that thing, and it terrorizes every single new player on the map trying to get completion. Hundreds of lvl appropriate-80’s are in that area per day (and that’s a conservative estimate) on every server to kill the Jungle Wurm. No One Kills That Thing. So what now, there would be rampant Holo Champs in the 1-15 and 15-25 areas on top of the ones already there?
I agree with most of the ideas thus far, save adding Champs.
Add Vets, add HP, add scaling, add ‘doors’ or ‘waves’, add collective loot, make them not spawn directly on top of the hockey puck…. Whatever is needed. I just feel that adding Champs in lower lvld areas is throwing just a little more jet fuel to the bonfire than is truly required.

Also, my thoughts on the (not-so-solid) Loss of Community?
I came here from WoW. Specifically for the lure of working together. Or at least not ‘Screw Your Neighbor’. I’d can’t even begin to think of this game ending up like that. It really makes my heart catch. I have no desire at all to go back to that ‘world’ in any way. I do not wish to see the new world of my happiness degenerate into it’s mirror image.

Do we even know if the Holo Projector respawns if the mobs aren’t killed? Say they do add a Champ. That Champ isn’t killed. Will that node then become inactive, until such a time that the Champ is killed? What if it wanders away? I know in my workings w it all day, the stupid Abominations and Icebrood Elementals first objective, even under fire… Was to Wander Off. Some got kinda far away, if other mobs (non-Holos) were involved in the fray. So… What then? What if the Champ Holo wanders off, and then has to be hunted down before the Holo will even reset, much less respawn it’s 8min window?

It’s like a Transmutation, yes. Or an Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
After you apply it you would use a Transmutation Crystal (if 80, or a Stone if below 80) and Transmute it to another piece of gear when it’s time to upgrade. This should help:

First, I want to say thank you to ANet for the Mini-Pak.
Second, I’d like to tell those here to keep your thoughts in ‘most’ cases to yourself in direct regards to your ‘psychic-divination’ of what you believe others do with the Gems they buy. Just because You or your Friend throw Gems away on RNG boxes most definitely does NOT factually conclude that every single player who buys Gems buys RNG boxes. Period.
I buy Gems every month. For multiple reasons. I have been used to paying a sub fee per month for over 6 years. Now, I have no such fee to HAVE to pay, so an amount of Gems that cost less than that fee is a luxury I now get to indulge in. I also get the personal satisfaction of knowing I am supporting a game that does NOT require any of it’s player base For Any Reason to pay a dime to play their game after the initial cost of purchasing the key. I have not ONCE bought an RNG box. I have however upgraded my bank, character slot, and (mostly because I felt like I wanted to) bought a Make-Over Kit. I am an adult. I chose what I wanted, and I paid for the services. I weighed the offered cost ANet gave vs the value I thought I was receiving, and I judged it to be within my tolerance limits. I Clicked The Confirm Button.
ANet never once FORCED me into any of those purchases. Not for the Gems themselves, or for the services received.
Just the same as those who DID chose to buy RNG boxes. They weighed the risks, and now must learn the lesson of life, and Take Responsibility For Their Actions.

It was not an apology from ANet I received, in these mini’s. They have a history of my purchases in my TP screen. They know I have not bought an RNG box.
I received a gift. A Thank You. A token of gratitude, possibly for a minute portion of someone’s paycheck others in this thread have made their day a nightmare.

I don’t care if ‘they have no in-game value’ Why on Earth should they be required to? Why should a gift NEED to be worth some form of currency to be a valid and worthy gift? If your child brought you a gift – for any reason at all – that had not discernible street value… Would you turn away in disgust as you have these mini’s? The next question, is WHY would it have to be your child to change that equation? Why can it not be ANet or some other RANDOM stranger giving you a small gift to uplift your day? Why are you such a money hoarding back biting person, that you cannot simply say:

Thank you, ANet.
I like the pets.

This happens all the time to me on my Eng and Guard. The first time was the first time i ran Maw after the patch that changed this mechanic. I had not completed ANY of these (Maw/Fire Ele/Wurm/SBehem) on ANY alt at ANY point before this patch for over a week.
Still continuing, I have this issue. It can be a day, or three, or a week between runs. Sometimes, I’ll get lucky and get a Chest to pop. Most I do not.
It occurs on my laptop. It occurs on my desktop. It occurs daytime, nighttime, evening, after server patches, before server patches, on overflow servers, on a goat, in a boat, with and without Green Eggs and Ham.
I have done this on either of my two alts. One a Sylvari Eng, the other an Asuran Guard.
Since the patch, I have received that chest on the edge of my screen 3 times. I have completed the lower 4 at least 2x a week since the patch.
