In this video, my guild was about to defend a supply camp from three waves of 20 Sea Of Sorrows Invaders:

We only lost this camp once they came with a zerg of 40-50, some of our defense forces had left, and we had not rebuilt all of our siege. However, this video proves that smart use of siege weapons can allow a small group to defeat a larger force, even without the protection of walls!

Defending supply camps is an important and often overlooked aspect of WvW. It helps your team in a variety of ways:
- It provides a source of supply for your team to siege enemy points, repair damaged structures, and build defensive siege weapons inside your towers and keeps.
- It denies the enemy all of the above and can slow down or prevent them from building a golem army.
- Dolyaks will steadily leave the camp and supply your teams towers and keeps so they can build upgrades and have emergency reserves in case of attack.
- Your server earns 5 points per tick for every camp held on the map.

Having a camp for your team to consistently retrieve supply will help prevent players from taking supply from tower and keeps that are currently upgrading or which have a small amount of supply in reserve. This is important, because depleting a keep’s supply can drastically delay the time required to finish an upgrade, leaving it vulnerable and easier to capture in the long run.

You can upgrade camps so that the dolyaks with deliver double the amount of supplies to your towers and keeps, and you can increase the level of the guards to aid your defensive efforts.

Another important reason to defend your camps is that it encourages your team to invest in these powerful upgrades without fear of losing them to a petty strike force of 2-3 enemy players.

So get out there, find a group of reliable players, and defend those camps!

I went into great white shark mode during this vid and ran way too far from camp. Luckily it didn’t matter too much this time, but I should have stayed closer rather than chasing. :p

I don’t think it is 100% a numbers game. On SoR we really do need to do more training and get our troops up to speed on siege tactics, scouting, portaling, and other strategies. PRX guild makes great use of siege weapons, which is part of the reason why SoS is doing so well.

The learning process is part of the fun of WvW, however. It is a challenge to get your server’s community organized and your troops properly trained (just like in real war). I don’t let myself get upset when I see our team doing something strategically inept. It just prompts me to teach players.

As the leader of Team Shatter [TS] on Sea of Sorrows, I’d like to clarify two things:

1. Commanders Wolfbane and Cacare transferred over to finish their legendaries (It’s bugged here in SoS at Balth). They joined WvW to try and kill me, they were only there for a short amount of time. And during that time they did not tell us ANYTHING about any of your plans. They weren’t even connected to our Teamspeak (I have logs if you so wish to see). I have told them not to enter WvW from your end again.

I spoke with a ‘high-ranking’ member of TR regarding these two SoS commanders and asked that they no longer use their commander signets in our maps. The best thing is for them to avoid WvW and transfer back as soon as possible, because it is bad sportsmanship to transfer to a server you are currently matched up with (for any reason). If they need Obsidian Shards, there are over 20 other servers they can transfer to.

I hope that they do leave SoR as soon as possible and avoid using their signets in the meantime. We do not want help from SoS members. They are the enemy this week, and we want a good clean fight. I hope you understand and that these fellows do the right thing.

I am trying to locate the leader(s) of Team Shatter guild of Sea of Sorrows server, but I cannot find a website or anything from a Google search. Does anyone know officers and/or leadership from TS?

We currently have 2 commanders from SoS on our SoR Borderlands map. They are both from Team Shatter, and their names are Wolfbain and Cacare. I whispered Cacare, and he said they are here to farm karma as some events on SoS server are bugged. I don’t really know what to think about this…

There was some epic fighting in the EB jumping puzzle today. Even some PRX guild members showed up to build trebs and ballistas. We didn’t allow them any easy siege blueprints this time, however.

As far as our overnight coverage…… i think it is midterms that are really pulling our p;layers away. We usually have a much larger presence, with NA players pulling massive OT duty into the night. Im willing to bet alot these are students as they would pretty much be the only NA players able to pull this off.

I just cant see how last week vs TC we had swarms at almost all hours, but now we scarcely had 12 people in EB.

I’m just tired of having my server’s thread locked due to insults. We want to be able to discuss the matchup, so think twice before posting whatever is on your mind.

I agree that we need to work on our use of supply and strategy on SoR. I always try to stress to people I play with that carrying supply and knowing when and how to use it is probably more important than anything else in WvW.

A group of 10 players packing supply and the knowledge of how to use ballistas and arrow carts can decimate a group of 30 barbarians who want to smash kill without the use of any strategy. There is a reason why advanced weapons changed the face of warfare. Understanding and using the power of siege is what separates zergs from tactical forces.

Aurust, you need to ease up on the insults a bit before you get the thread locked. You point out some valid issues with our server’s use of tactics, but you could do so in a more diplomatic and constructive manner.

Identify the problems and offer solutions without calling anyone stupid, moronic, idiotic, etc. All of the problems you highlight can be solved through training, so I would recommend approaching it from that perspective.

Getting better? Unless we get a large influx or euros/oceanics; people will move to servers that do have them like they are doing now. It’s not fun to play more or less alone and outmanned.

For those that disbelieve, this is all the SoR we had when SoS took valley (again) at their prime time. Under ten people….and btw, this is only 1/4 of that force in this screen. LOL!

That’s me in the middle of all of those enemy golems on EB, bahaha. Those golems started humping my body once they took the keep. LOL

Those of us on Sanctum of Rall are having a lot of fun in this matchup. It’s quite refreshing after what seemed like a long lull in WvW action.

We must have killed at least 30 golems from SoS today on the ‘Sanctum of Rall Borderlands’ map. You guys just keep coming, haha! xD

I had a lot of fun doing the puzzle, even while I was failing it, haha. I read that some people were getting really frustrated, though, so I put together a tutorial to help.

It took me about an hour and a half to complete it.

After reading this thread, I decided to put together a tutorial of how to complete the clock tower jumping puzzle. I hope this helps some of you that are struggling with it.

Since I read about so many people struggling with the Clock Tower jumping puzzle, I decided to make a step-by-step walkthrough:

I heard about some people trying for 6-7+ hours and still not completing it, so check this out and give it another try! One of the hardest parts about this puzzle is that if a particular jump is giving you trouble, you have very little time to figure it out before failing and having to restart.

By the way, this Halloween content is awesome! It blows me away to see how much fun stuff the designers made to celebrate the holiday.

I’m on SoR, and I hate hacking. Try to report them and especially get their names. Send the info to exploits@arenanet.com, as I don’t think the devs want things like that posted publicly on the forums.

We don’t want them on our server wasting player slots and messing up everyone’s game experience. Please don’t take their actions as any sort of representation of SoR. Hackers make up a tiny percent of the playerbase. I see all Guild Wars 2 players as a single community. We are “at war” with other servers in WvW, but for the sake of fun and good sportsmanship.

As for spawn camping, I’ve seen both sides of that. Most new players do not realize that there are two other exits from spawn. When I see our own team getting camped, I try to explain this to the players and direct them to the alternate routes. Personally, I have never had a problem getting out of spawn thanks to the side roads.

Speaking of orbs, I’d love to know how the altar was broken in the Hills in SoR BL about half an hour ago with the orb vanishing. Before someone mentions the Quaggans – no, we own all the Quaggans and they don’t go through an altar quite that quickly anyway. Was also sufficiently after us taking it for it to reasonably be a Mesmer (plus we had basically all of their manpower tied up with our attack on the Garrison anyway). I’d love to give this the benefit of the doubt, although I’m dubious given that my map awareness is far from poor and I didn’t even see white swords pop up (not to mention taking a group in there with five or less would be pretty gutsy against an orb-fuelled lord), so I’ll ask and am genuinely interested on how that one happened?

I think something weird is going on with the Altars. I saw hostile Orb Protectors spawn out of nowhere next to our friendly ones just after relocating our orb. I’m not sure if they would be capable of defeating the NPCs and destroying the altar, however. shrugs

I just saw 2 enemy Orb Protectors spawn on the Altar of Power in our SoR Borderland Garrison Keep. Where the heck did those come from??

I just got into SoR borderlands in time to see DB falling. I prance in, hear my Caedas buddies call out the altar being destroyed, pick up the orb, and gracefully swim away. Hahaha, what a rush! No it wasn’t a fly hack. I frapsed it. Will upload video once I’m out of game. Happy halloween everyone! ^^

I am looking forward to more of a challenge this week! Our last match seemed to be over very quickly, and our hardcore WvW players were getting bored. (The other servers seemed to just stop entering WvW at all.) We may end up being the squished ones this time, but I prefer fighting outnumbered. And I will keep fighting even if we get pushed to spawn! >:D

It is weird being red after rolling blue team so many times. Once we figure out the good trebbing spots, look out SoS and CD!

Let’s keep this fight clean and intense, shall we? Happy fragging to all teams.

First we saw bot trains of 5-6 players in the Chitterogg area. Now you can find groups of 20 there, plus another 15-20 minimum botting in the Krait pond. Even when we kill them or contact the enemy server to have them killed, they will respawn and continue auto attacking at the border waypoints.

This is unfair to the teams that have bots taking up their player slots in close battles.

I’m on the Sanctum of Rall server, and I’ve seen a lot of bots from SoR as well as on Yak’s Bend (our enemy last week). I report every one I come across, however it’s very difficult to even target them in the Krait pond. Regardless, they just keep coming back!

How are the bot problems for other servers out there?

Yak’s Bend deployed what seemed to be their entire server against the keep protecting the SoR Orb of Power on Yak’s Borderland map. They thought seven trebuchets would be enough, but they underestimated the power of our defenders.

Check out Sanctum of Rall’s epic repel of Yak’s Bend this morning on Yak’s own borderland map at Dreaming Bay. We went from having 7 trebuchets hitting our inner walls from the outer ramparts to completely wiping Yak’s army. AWESOME fight guys!!

Yes that was nice of them, but we need to deal with the core problem. These hackers need to have their names and guild tags taken. We need people on every server that can screenshot, record, and report until these scumbags are banned. Don’t let them get away with it and they will think a bit longer before trying it next time.

I saw a report in team chat that a Yak’s Bend player was fly hacking the orb and pulled up my map. The Orb carrier icon flew across the plains northeast of the keep, fly over the wall, over the water, and straight to the Altar of Power.

Caedas guild [CDS] and its allies on the Sanctum of Rall server captured the magical Orb of Power after the enemy stole it and hid it inside their fortified keep. But that was not enough for the Orb Stealin’ Bears.

Our server has been holding 2nd place in North America. Henge of Denravi is the Colossus against whom we so bravely stand. They never fail to hit us with huge armies and coordinated siege attacks. In the face of death we charge forth, earning ourselves the nickname Steelbluff.

Thanks to the devs, Stormbluff, HoD, JQ, and ET for making this one of the most epic PvP games evahhh. (Those are mainly the servers I have fought.) I feel like I’m playing Stronghold Crusader in first person. “Thieves are scaling the walls, my Lord!”

Here is my story of war and valor:

OmegaAngel, that is my concern. I would like to see this issue clarified so everyone can be on the same page. From the chatter I’ve heard, the devs said they were going to fix it somewhere. If they say something is broken and that it will be changed, that makes it a bug. Taking advantage of a bug is exploiting.

If this is intended, then having that stated from an ArenaNet source would let teams devise Golem / Portal tactics without worrying about bans. There are some real questions about balance here, which is why I think the question is warranted.

If it is allowed, I would like to try it myself. If it is a bug, I don’t want to give our team an unfair advantage by exploiting an error. Stormbluff has a code of honor to uphold.

David, if you read my post, you will see I was asking a question, not making a statement. I just want to know whether the game’s programming should allow an Alpha Siege Golem to activate the Use Portal command on a Mesmer portal. The answer to that is either true or false. Please keep this thread informative and productive.

I’m not whining about anything, Scribbles. I’m asking for information. If this is how it should work, that’s fine by me. I just want to know based on more than hearsay.

We just had a keep ninja’ed by 12 siege golems using mesmer portals. I know this has been happening a lot. I have heard from chat that this is an exploit, because golems were not supposed to be able to use mesmer portals.

Can a dev please clarify whether or not portaling golems is an exploit?
Is this a bannable offense?
Should we be reporting players who do this?

Golems cannot currently use mesmer portals, can they?

I posted the video of our 16 Alpha Siege Golem army speed capturing HoD’s keep earlier today, and a fellow Stormbluff player brought up a point about the strategy:

“Unlike Hills, bay had a good bunch of defenders in front of the gate. As well as several manned ballistas on the wall. Our golem army got slaughtered before we even reached the gate.

So, yes, golem armies are powerful, but only because they enable great surprise attacks. No element of surprise, no golem power.

I wanted to go ahead and show the video of what he’s referring to in order to demonstrate the idea. If you want to stop an army of Golems, prepare some defensive ballistae, arrow carts, and catapults to mow them down on approach. Of course, you will also need soldiers there to man the equipment by the time the golems arrive. See the tragic fall of our Golem Army when Eredon Terrace did just that:

@Lofty Nope, we took it at 12:48pm and held it until around 9:30pm Central US time yesterday (8-9 hours). ET started pushing back across all maps, and Henge used a nice diversion on us. They distracted us with an attack on Woodhaven Tower while they mustered a golem army of their own to blitz AH like we did. The keep was lost before I can reach it after hearing it was in trouble. :’(

16 Golems operated by Caedas Guild and our Stormbluff Isle allies set a new world record for the fastest capture of a fully upgraded keep. By the time Henge of Denravi knew their keep was under attack, we were already through the first Reinforced Gate. This type of blitzkrieg strategy works best with the element of surprise. We moved the Alpha Siege Golems into position quickly enough to avoid being spotted.
