About orbs: if the player carrying it dies (drops it) the orb icon no longer shows on the map. This is the way it has functioned for a long time.
If the 2nd carrier dies the orb generally despawns and resets to the top of the map at the end of the 15min timer. Not sure if this occurs every time, but it is common.
edit: also, these threads get shut down asap when you discuss stuff like the errant ghosts stealing orbs.
I’m aware of that- however, when there are 8 Commander tags on the map I should not have to waste time trying to see where mine or the one I want to follow is. That’s the whole point of the thread… there are too many blue dots these days.
But if you join their squad the rest are hidden!
Verbal abuse isn’t acceptable from anyone; right click > report then ignore them if you would prefer not to listen to it.
a rep system would be pretty dumb IMO, though. Too easy to abuse.
I’ve seen an SBI char using the speed/teleport hack. Was on an thief who would run up, try and burst me down (so use all her Initiative) and if I wasn’t dead at the end she would blink away in hops 4-5 times in about 2 seconds. She was guildless if anyone from SBI is wondering so i dont hold it against you.

Let players opt to see Commander tags outside our own guild.
Like chat options. Let us filter what we see and don’t.
If you mouse over the blue dot you can see who it is and whether they are in your guild You can even join their squad to hide all the other commanders.
I think cmdr symbol is fine as is, don’t follow people you don’t know (I’d think that would be obvious.)
Worst case they lead the zerg off to do dumb stuff… Not like they’d be doing anything more useful without that guy. A zerg walking up to SM happens with or without a commander leading them there, and whether or not people tell them in map chat its folly.
Also not sure why people get so riled up about commanders being in LA with it on.

I was quite happy seeing some IoJ in the EB jumping puzzle today, I just let them be. Soon as they thought they seen one of my group members alone they pounced him though. Bad IoJ ! didn’t end well for them as they didn’t see the rest of us. My trust is broken
You’re making the world a better place by keeping them out of the puzzle
borderlands if guild op, otherwise EB because there seem to be fewer exploits being actively abused.
Apart from those issues, I enjoy borderlands because it has much more room to move in.

Keep their burst, fine, but fix their surviability… thieves are so powerful in wuvwuv its not funny, even if you somehow manage to survive their initial burst, you cant kill them, they can easily outrun you and disappear

Isn’t it 900 range for the curtain, and about 500+ range for the flip itself (which seems to ignore LOS?)
Don’t mind it too much but it is pretty terror considering you often can’t see it, and the necro/thief pulls both are affected by LOS.
@Hanzo you no longer have to stay in the area to be stealthed. After 4s (when the house animation expires) your group has 10s of stealth stacked up and can run anywhere with zero restrictions.

Mass invis is an elite… And worse than the current implementation of refuge.

Since a recent patch Shadow Refuge no longer destealthes you if leaving the circle after the skill expires (when you still have ~10s stealth left). Pre patch it was only bugged to let you run around the last ~ 4s (at least if you had +1s stealth trait.)
tl;dr shadow refuge is now mass invis with 60s cd and more duration, as a normal ability.
Is this intended?

This morning in EB, we took Wildcreek. It was a quick and painless affair since we on IoJ are so amazing at placing siege.
Let us not forget the fallen:
- rams innumerable
- 1 trebuchet
- 2 superior ballistas
- 1 golem
Miraculously, golems #2 and #3 survived for slightly more than 5 minutes after the siege ended.
I surprised no one mention Valve with their keys and crates from TF2.
No one ever complain to Valve that they are not getting unusual from opening 100 crates.
Know why? People understand they are completely random and extremely rare – its even in the name of the item!
It was never stated or implied in any way that these BLC drops would be equivalent in rarity to TF2 unusuals – a reasonable assumption was that they would be a common drop, maybe 1/3 or 1/10 and not a 1/100 super rare jackpot item.
You could argue that the wording “a chance” does not exclude extreme rarity, but if you look at the october 24 patch notes (with details for Mad King Chests) you will note that Arenanet recognized that as an issue and modified the wording to “a rare chance”. Hopefully they stick to this in the future so that customers don’t misunderstand the rarity and feel cheated.

27 BLC, 13 MKC. Didn’t get much of anything from either (none of the rare stuff) but it was just worthless boosters/tonics used to make MKC so I really don’t care. Inventory of the 13 MKC:

379 deaths, 2736 kills. Most of those deaths are from cliffs; I think we can all agree they are seriously broken. Almost as bad as thieves.
2v1 is always opportunistic… Nobody complained on the forums when JQ saved anzalias (IoJ tower) from SBI on monday!

That catapult is killable, though, right? Spent an hour a few weeks ago taking out siege that was up there with a treb in the tower
15 keys + 3 I had, opened 26 total, got nothing. I don’t care too much, just know that I will never buy keys again because I learned that drop rates are so low that its a colossal waste of resources.
Don’t give up now, we were down to 90 potential points yesterday morning and recovered just fine into the evening
If nothing else, it was a fun weekend.

There is also a cap on how much siege you can place in a given area, its relatively high though (probably 10+). The game will just prevent you from placing blueprints after that. Seen it a handful of times at towers/supply camps with large amounts of siege equipment set up.
You can maintain permanent swiftness with just heal glyph + elemental attunement if you have solid boon duration (30% from arcana, 25%+ from runes) even ignoring other traits like swift/fury on auras and inscription/quick glyphs.
Guess you would need traits/updraft for perma swift if you have 4pc earth rune (is that what people use now?)
I could say the same thing about eles! Perma swiftness, RTL, updraft and other cc to lock you down for years while everyone else catches up. Same for warriors – how do you escape perma swiftness + gs gapclosers? Answer: You dodge.
In the end it all comes down to properly dodging CC by knowing animations and ability ranges, or you can be caught by almost anyone that has built for mobility and lockdown.
If you panic and double evade before anything happens you will just die, gg no re. Player issue. Happens to thieves too.
That said, stealth is pretty much the last word when it comes to escaping ganks if you’re adept at juking.

Completely dominating the map is just as bad as getting dominated, IMO. Its just a boring and funless week for everyone involved.

sbi bl was one of the most exciting maps for the majority of the weekend. now its mostly esol-tier people mindlessly zerging supply camps in squads of 40. FUN WHILE IT LASTED.
Hey buddy, the reason it didn’t happen earlier was because IoJ had 30 guys and max siege there to fight them off. Supply camps don’t defend themselves, get out there and fight for the yaks and camps.
Was doing this on Friday to JQ’s greenlake yaks, I agree it is broken to be able to kill them before the defenders take you out – a death is a small price to pay, and even that is often avoidable.
Its not a problem that dolyaks are trivially soloable, its that they are soloable while being actively guarded by players, at even 3:1 odds – toss in undergeared/low level players and you can make that 5+.

Yes, I’m sure all outer and inner gates and walls were up. I also have an idea of how Mesmers are getting inside using their skills, but not having played one I can’t say for sure. Hard to say if that system is being used is an ‘exploit’ since it would mean the skill was used as described, but if it is allowed to be used there will never be a reason to bother with taking out walls or doors or buy siege equipment ever again.
I will say as an Elementalist, I discovered a way to get past outer walls of Bay today using only my skills. I can’t say its an exploit because the skill works exactly as described. I guess if my thought about how Mesmers are getting in are true then that wouldn’t be an exploit either. Maybe ArenaNet wants Mesmers to port in a lot of people past walls because they think standing around in a boss room for hours in case its done is a fun thing to do.
It would be wise to assume that anyone can get past the water gate @ bay. Keep a close eye on it.
I’ve also seen quite a few players get stuck inside walls/gates when they were repaired as they were crossing that area. The repair I saw that trapped someone inside the door also locked the Keep Lord outside of his keep! Unfortunately, this happened before I started screenshotting stuff

Basically what happens is a guy either exploits terrain or flies into your keep, grabs the orb (or just kills the altar so you have nowhere to put it), and peaces out. Most infamously they fly in, kill the altar and grab orb, then fly it out.
Mesmer spec ops are often mistaken for this.
All I can say is that my guild has been much happier on Isle of Janthir compared to Anvil Rock. Transferring to one of the higher ranked servers for a day or two can give you a good idea of how it is different. Suffice it to say that you will usually meet heavy resistance attempting to take anything, even supply camps.
Of course, there are still issues like culling, particularly with stealth characters, hackers, 700-0-0 matchups that are no fun for anyone, etc although I do have hope these will be fixed.
Join a guild or find one during your playtime that gets things done.

I don’t understand, someone please explain to me. If I join a guild, will my server population increase to 24hr coverage? If I join a guild, will there be no more invisibility bug? If I join a guild whose zerg I’m following, will my XP and silver rewards increase? If I join a guild who doesn’t zerg because they only have 3-4 active WvW people, what then, do you run around taking camps endlessly and PvEing or what? And when these 3-4 people go to sleep, will Towers and Keeps be impossible to PvDoor by the enemy?
Talking about zerging for XP/silver makes me think you’re on one of the smallest servers – people will disagree, but I think it is a much less rewarding experience than servers with a larger population.
WvW is for fun, not profit. If you want gold/karma farm in cursed shore instead.
I assume you’re doing WvW solo? I agree, it really is not a rewarding experience in that case unless you have a lot of experience – sPvP might be a better fit.
If you really want to give WvW a fair try, find an active WvW guild and perhaps also a server with a larger population.
An uncoordinated zerg (read: not on voice chat) also gets absolutely decimated by well executed tactics.

I fail to see why waypointing back is a problem – its not like you can do it in combat. If you can’t hit them before they port out (and there are 1500 range abilities) its your problem.
Just hit downed players a few times, and make sure you pick up every single bag that drops (they spawn when you get the XP popup)
SBI is looking pretty scary now that they got the 3rd orb as a freebie!

Nothing like a mesmer out of nowhere to make a borderland full of people crap their pants.
edit battle report for SBI map @ 3am:
A large JQ force went past redbriar and up to the keep, then swung up north after they met resistance. Shortly after, they were portal’ed into Bay by a mesmer onto the high ground at NW. Due to their large numbers, positioning, and quickly massed siege, IOJ had serious difficulty dislodging them & JQ began sieging inner Bay with 3x treb, at least some of them superior. Despite the 700/1300 supply reserves, the trebs rapidly burned down the inner wall.
SBI meanwhile capitalized on this engagement by pushing Hills (containing an orb) hitting the inner gate/Lord’s room around the same time JQ downed the inner wall was preparing to push into inner Bay.
JQ ended up getting pushed out of Bay and simultaneously losing Hills; my speculation is that half their army waypointed out and they fell short on both sides of the map.

The match is often over well before the end of the week; in many matchups the first few days are the only competitive ones. Moving those few competitive days to the middle/end of the week from the weekend would be an awful change and will never happen.
And no, people will not queue up to try to come back from a 700-0-0 blowout on the weekend just because its the last few days – they’ll wait until the next matchup… Which is on monday, forcing many to miss it due to IRL obligations.
With how snowbally WvW is currently (due to design; hopefully some of it is changed) there is no way to force the end to be competitive.
Unused siege lasts for 30min before it despawns; anyone using it resets that timer.
Quaggan lightning can kill siege.
yeah, you can stomp during just about anything, including Stability/Stealth/Ignore Pain/Mist Form/Ele focus immunity. You can even use teleport utilities while stomping to kill Thieves on the first try.
Not sure what you mean by spike, but utilities/heal/elite can be used while in mist form although 1-5 are locked out.
