[LFG][NA][WvW/PvX] Need a chill group

I like running in tight, tagless groups of no more than 15 (maaaybe 20) that use coordinated builds and VoIP (relaxed doesn’t have to mean sloppy!). I can’t play all night, every night anymore, but I can probably make it to any scheduled events. Have all classes to 80, but most proficient in the GWEN classes, or their post-HoT counterparts. Willing to play whatever is needed, though. I’ll transfer to any NA server for the right guild.

PvE is fine if you don’t mind me drinking heavily.

Thanks.

Agreed with OP. My love for this game is on life support. The only reason why I keep playing at all is my guild, and the videos of some really fun, memorable fights I recorded keep the dream alive. I miss my raggedy T7 server, even if sometimes it were dead, at least I felt some dedication to it. Capping an enemy keep brought some sort of pride. That in itself was reward enough for most WvW players, even before the reward tracks.

It bewilders me that Anet keeps introducing features that nobody asked for, while forgoing development of highly demanded changes. Things like separating PvE and WvW stats, build templates, or even just having more tournaments that didn’t burn people out. All these things could have been introduced. Instead, we get things like Dragon Banners and broken field siege and week-long golem zergs (granted, that example is a bit aged). No changes at all would have been better than these things.

To top it off, Anet kitten on small guilds like mine. We spent over a year getting it fully upgraded. We already did the work so we could upgrade objectives and provide our members with bonuses, yet they took it away. It really deflated our tires, and while we continue to recover, I doubt we will ever be fully upgraded again.

To Anet’s credit, some changes have been good and welcomed. Toning down some (not all) of the more annoying elite specs showed they have some interest in attempting to improve WvW. The reward tracks and bringing back the Alpine BLs also make me hopeful they’ll eventually get it right. But the current state of WvW makes it hard to log in.

I have been on lower tiers to upper tiers and everything in between. I chose my server for a reason, if I wanted to have these zergfests and queue’d maps, I would have transferred up. I’m not saying it’s wrong that people want bigger fights, but those who did, again, transferred up.

At this point I’d rather this server linking beta, and all the other beta tests, stop all together. Whether it be reverting back to eight tiers, or just merging the servers and letting the dust settle so we can choose our new home world and continue to beat each other up for no reason whatsoever.

Mindless zergplay needs a big nerf

Punishing people for playing together is agaibst the philosophy of the game. It would be much more appropriate to put more work into the balancing of large scale combat.

While this is true, there are several instances in PvE, as well as PvP, where having all players doing one thing will end in failure. Playing together also means coordination and working together. Large groups of players who mindlessly follow the tag should not have an advantage over smaller groups who coordinate their movements and team comp.

Your top 5 priorities for WvW-Overhaul

in WvW

Posted by: sigrdrifumal.3752

sigrdrifumal.3752

1. Bring back the Alpine BLs. It wouldn’t be a magic “reset” button that would bring us back to when people actually played WvW, but it would be evidence that Anet is listening and is willing to make changes suggested by the WvW community. That would go a long way in restoring my faith in Anet.

2. Get rid of the gimmicks and PvE events. Siege is one thing, guards and lords are one thing, but these banners/auto-upgrades/magical unicorns that poo victory over the other worlds is simply not fun, and not wanted in a PvP setting. This is WvW, not WvE. I’m not asking for a straight PvP/team deathmatch mode, but fighting ability and skill should trump completion of PvE events.

3. Balance professions. Separating WvW stats from PvE would be really, really nice for both modes. Short of that, small, consistent balance changes instead of drastic, quarterly patches that change all of the meta builds would be welcome.

4. Rewards. Killing another player should yield better loot rates than what trash mobs drop. Even killing trash mobs in WvW should yield better loot rates than killing trash mobs in PvE land.

5. Communication. I know the devs are much better about this (at least for now), but some sort okittennowledgement by anyone who works at Anet is much better than what we’ve been getting. The level of communication and consideration from Anet towards WvW players gives me the feeling of abandonment, much like when an early-access game on Steam is abandoned.

Honorable mentions:

Don’t do anything huge like DBLs or auto-upgrades anymore, at least not all at once, and definitely be prepared to revert the changes if they’re not well-received. I just don’t recognize the WvW I fell in love with anymore.

Not all the changes made since then were bad, but reverting WvW back to pre-HoT/DBL times would rekindle my interest in this game. Better yet would be pre-stability change.

Hi everyone,

We’re a small WvW guild recently moved back to FC (we missed the community there). Mostly Eastern and Central timezones and play during NA/late NA prime. We’re an 18+ guild.

We’re currently rebuilding and looking for new people, but we’re not looking to grow so much as to ruin the guild’s atmosphere. This guild will remain small and tight-knit, but that does mean disadvantages such as not having guildies online 24/7 (we alleviate some of that by our Steam group). But when we’re online together, we’re running together.

We generally run 4-6 people at night and focus on havoc squads. An ideal run for us includes a lot of outnumbered fighting. As such, dying is a thing, so patience and a sense of humor is crucial.

For PvE, we are much more relaxed. We tend to play all Berserker’s, but we really won’t enforce builds. We tend to not do speedruns (maybe occasionally skip trash mobs). We are planning on doing Raids which will hopefully be much more involved as far as builds or group comp goes.

We do ask three things from our guild members:

  • Get on Teamspeak and listen.
  • We like to run tight, so stick with the group. Squirrels are at the bottom of the food chain.
  • Builds. For WvW, we do run specific builds that aren’t necessarily the meta. Just be flexible and open-minded, but feel free to voice your opinion.

If you want more information please feel free to contact Sigrd or Baak in-game or just PM me here.

Thank you!

When is it right to interrupt a duel?

Scroll up in this thread for why I don’t use OS.

Honestly you don’t need a reason to not use OS. OS is not for roaming, it’s for premeditated duels and GvGs. What is fun about roaming in WvW, as opposed to, say, SPvP or OS, is that the fights are spontaneous and organic. It’s the same reason why people play PvP servers in other MMOs. Sometimes duels happen, and it’s toxic behavior to not allow players to enjoy duels that have no affect on their server’s performance at all.

You assume the guy HAD to be a dueler. It is far from always being the case. Beside, even If I’m myself victim of tons of ganking and I will often come back and take the camp when I come back, they did managed to preserve the objective for possibly another tick.

Yes, duelers don’t care about PPT, but many people DO care. There is no nonsense about me saying I duel and intervening in a 1 v1. Where is it written that indulging in duels comes at the price of your team PPT efforts? The world is not black and white. All I say is Server > Individual in that game mode. Yes you can bow and duel all you want, and I do, but if you put yourself in a position where others have doubts about what is happening don’t come crying to anybody. Assume your choices of game mode as well as the places you pick inside that game mode when you duel. You are red and attackable is the default reality…

Nobody’s arguing that dueling in a high-traffic area is probably a bad decision. Like I said in a previous post, most duelers understand (or should understand) that it’s risky to duel in those places. But if it’s an actual duel, and you can tell it’s a duel, there’s no point in interfering. Absolutely none. Maybe nonsense isn’t the right term to use when you say that you duel and willingly interfere in a 1v1 that won’t have any affect on your server. That’s just toxic. Jayne was correct in saying that you’re just making excuses for bad sportsmanship.

Rangers are getting the option to become a Druid and wield a staff. There haven’t been many details other than that, but they are getting some love.

They also haven’t released information about the Engineer’s new Specialization. Patience.

We are Reckless Entanglement. We are based in Ferguson’s Crossing and mostly play during evenings/early mornings in the Eastern and Central time zones.

We all have lives that will occasionally take us away from the game. Not all of us are the best players, we don’t pretend to be elite, and we certainly don’t care that we’re not. We’re adults who like to come together and kill virtual people to release after the day. With that said, we play to win, as getting the stomp is a much better feeling than getting stomped.

We have absolutely no problem showing new players the ropes if needed. We recruit people based on attitude and willingness to be a team player, not Achievement Points or how many level 80 characters they have. You will never get yelled at for bringing the “wrong” build, but we will suggest changes you can make to be more effective.

Our main interest is WvW. We prefer to run small teams (2-5 people). If you’re new to WvW, don’t worry – we’ll teach you. WvW is a very fun and enjoyable game mode if played with the right people, and we get excited when we can show new players around WvW.

While we primarily run WvW, we do know how to run dungeons. Several members have the Dungeon Master achievement and know their way around the different paths. We tend to not skip mobs, but that’s situational. We’re far more relaxed in PvE, and don’t care what class or build you bring.

Since we are focused on WvW, we do ask that all members be on Ferguson’s Crossing. It’s perfectly fine if you’d rather get to know us before making the commitment.

If you’re interested, hop on our website to submit an application. You can also contact our manager (Sigrd | sigrdrifumal.3752) or our Recruitment Officer (Velak The Traveler | Velak.1634) via whisper or mail. We’ll be happy to answer your questions.

I’m sure this has been brought up before, but one thing I do wish they would make happen is bring back Lions Arch, and make that exclusive to the server. Until Lions Arch is back, make that happen in a racial city (or any other map for that matter).

I appreciate that mid-level zones are so much more populated now. I even like how, as a poor WvWer, I can hop on a World Boss event and get some easy gold at my leisure. However, there really needs to be some sort of place for each servers’ community to muster, be it for WvW or just being able to see the same people everyday.

We are Reckless Entanglement. We’re a small group of friends who, not entirely happy with how other guilds run things, recently decided to start our own guild to support each other. We are based in Ferguson’s Crossing, mostly in EST and CST, and prefer to stay a small, semi-casual guild. We have absolutely no problem showing new players the ropes if needed.

Focus

Our main interest is WvW. We prefer to run small teams (2-5 people). Once in a while we will run with a zerg, especially if we’re feeling lazy or if the zerg is about to take a bigger objective, but mostly we just do our own thing.

While we like running dungeons and FotM, it would be disingenuous to say we run those very frequently. We tend to kill what’s in front of us, but that’s situational. We’re far more relaxed in PvE, and don’t care what class or build you bring – as long as we’re making progress and everyone’s enjoying themselves.

Philosophy

We all have lives that will occasionally take us away from the game. Not all of us are the best players, we don’t pretend to be elite, and we certainly don’t care that we’re not. We’re adults who like to come together and kill virtual people to release after the day. With that said, we play to win, as being the stomp-er is a lot better than being the stomp-ee.

The Rules

  • Since we are focused on WvW, we do ask that all members be on Ferguson’s Crossing, or have plans to transfer (it’s perfectly fine if you’d rather get to know us before making a permanent decision).
  • Remain active, or at least tell us when you won’t be. If you’re going to be away for a while, try to keep in touch. If not, we’ll assume you died a horrible death and we’ll be very sad and remove from the roster as part of our grieving process.
  • Using Teamspeak is mandatory when running with us, even if you don’t have a mic, at least listen. But having a working mic is definitely preferred.
  • Guildmates before PUGs. You should try to party with the guild before looking for other companionship. Logging in isn’t enough – we rely on each other to actually run with the guild.
  • Don’t be a jerk. Racist or homophobic slurs or any other crazy stuff people think of will not be tolerated.

Contact

If you’re interested, please contact me in-game (Fumal | sigrdrifumal.3752) via whisper or mail. I’ll be happy to answer any of your questions.

I’m looking for a WvW-focused guild. I prefer running stuff with an organized, small team. I prefer to run in groups of 5-15 people, than a large zerg. I would prefer the guild size to be between 20-50 people as I like tight-knit guilds where everyone knows everyone’s name, build and play style. I’m not really wanting some elitist guild with commanders yelling into the mic, but a certain amount of dedication and passion for the game would be nice.

Right now, I’m in Ferguson’s Crossing, but I can be convinced to transfer to just about any NA server.

I don’t consider myself “hardcore”, but I have led havoc squads and small groups (and we didn’t die sometimes!). I have every class but Mesmer leveled to 80 (working on that last one presently), and I’m willing to run whatever class or build is needed to benefit the group.

What I’m looking for in a guild:

  • Prime time between 8pm-midnight Eastern.
  • VoIP service (I’d be willing to provide it if needed)
  • Doesn’t inflate its roster size with members who no longer play.
  • Mature people who don’t take the game overly seriously, but are still willing to put forth a moderate amount of effort to be successful.
  • Some kind of way to schedule and organize events (an active website, Facebook, etc.)
  • PvE (dungeons, Fractals) would be nice, but it’s an afterthought for me.

If your guild would be interested in taking me in, please feel free to PM me or whisper me in-game.

Thank you.

Greetings.

Order of the Grey [OrG] is a guild primarily in the Eastern time zone on Crystal Desert with a focus on traditional dungeon content completion, world travel/mapping, alt leveling, and helping our members gain achievements. We offer a judgment-free, laid-back experience among friends. We don’t have a 25-point Code of Conduct because we expect adults to act like… well, adults.

Here’s what we offer:

  • A useful and active website
  • A Mumble server for great planning and communication
  • Officers who aren’t averse to getting out of the way of the members
  • An expectation of maturity and camaraderie
  • Friendly, knowledgeable members to assist you in your character progression, whether you’re level 1 or level 80
  • Encouragement of multi-guilding so you can take advantage of bonuses and guild missions (just represent us when you run with us)
  • No mob skipping – we like to clean up our mess
  • Average membership age 25+
  • A growing presence in WvW as well as PvP

Are we right for you? Visit our website to fill out a brief application, talk to us, and decide.

Hi Rjnemer!

If you haven’t found that right guild yet, you might be interested in The Order of the Grey. We’re a 35-man strong, PvX guild focused on content completion, free of exploits, “speed runs” and elitism.

We have experienced members who enjoy helping fellow guildies out – whether you need help with your build or getting that hard-to-reach vista.

We have a guild website with a calendar and forums. We also have Mumble for events such as dungeon runs, PvP or WvW, or just to hang out in and get to the know each other better.

So go to our site, check us out and apply to see if we’ll be a good fit for you.

Hope to see you in-game.

Would love a referral system for getting friends trials. I have a lot of friends who are ARPG fans but think this game is just another WoW clone. I think even an hour of play time would clear a lot of misconceptions about this game. As it is now, I just let friends take one of my alts out for a spin, but ten minutes with me awkwardly hovering over their shoulder isn’t exactly the best experience.

I’m not a businessman, and I’m sure ANET has perfectly logical reasons, but it really baffles me why this isn’t a thing. The people I’ve coerced into playing got hooked in the first couple of hours.
