Guild Wars 2

Some friends and I have returned to the game a few days ago after not having played in a few years. My main class is a Mesmer and I am looking for advice on what I should be doing with my class for general PvE content. My character is geared out in full exotic condition gear from back then but from what I have read condition mesmer is less than optimal these days. What kind of build/weapons would be ideal for playing through the new HoT content (including story, dungeons, etc) and at what point can I expect to be replacing the gear I have?
