What’s to stop people from abusing this, purposely lagging and/or disconnect themselves to gain free rewards.
I hear what you are saying but I don’t understand why anyone would lag themselves or dc just to get a reward they would get if they stayed playing normally…
I have seen in other games when a player dc’s or misses the reward due to lag it is later automatically sent to the player via the mail system, this can be done without worry of it being abused
When is ArenaNet going to bring in a compensation system for players who took part in an event but lagged out and/or disconnected before the end and so lost their rewards?
I agree, a break between living story chapters would be great….the rest of the game is really suffering because everyone is farming the events. Don’t get me wrong, I love the loot and gold I am making but I do want to play and enjoy other aspects of the game too.
I would like the answer to that also, have lost count the amount of chests i’ve lost due to this.
would be nice if Anet would set up some kind of compensation for players for when this happens, but you are right this will be ignored
I’m pretty sure the buggy/laggy mechanics are preventing those who are not local to the servers from doing well in this race.
Is it fair they get a handicap and never able to obtain the one time only achievement just because you’re “competing” for a reward you already have? Preventing any one else from getting it once you have it is simply being mean. There is no reason to come first after you got it the first time.
I’m not competing for a reward, I’m competing for fun. This is a game, and I would like it to be played fairly so I can have fun. I actually like the race, but when people cheat like this it really hurts us all.
How is somebody pulling up short of the finish line to allow another to get 1st place and the achievement hurting anyone? It doesn’t affect the position we finish in one bit
Maybe Anet can install some kind of hall monitor type thing to stop this outrageous behaviour of people helping people….or maybe, just maybe they have better things to be bothered about?
I very much doubt this is the issue, this lag problem has been going on for months…long before the API was being used on external websites.

Thank you for finally taking the time to respond to all us players suffering from this lag issue, I think a lot of the frustration we have had in regard to this has been the lack of communication from Anet. So please do continue to give us updates as often as possible so we know we are not being ignored.
One other thing I would like to add to the issues is the fact that all the players who suffer this problem are always missing out on rewards whenever there are events happening…this dragon bash is a perfect example, so many times I’m running to a hologram and then i rubberband or freeze for a short time and so completely miss out and forget about doing the dragon ball pvp event

so once again we have an update and again the disconnects and lag start…what the hell are you guys doing over there that causes this
this morning I am constantly disconnecting every few minutes, pretty much log in and once I move connection drops.
The only reason players still hang on to hope that Anet will fix this and don’t leave in their droves is because this is a Free to play game and Anet already have our money, but you can be sure that I will not put another cent into this game buying any content unless this issue is addressed……
forget about getting any kind of constructive response from Anet on this issue…it’s been going on for many people for months and Anet have consistently ignored it. It cannot be a coincidence that each time an update happens the game becomes unplayable for me, sometimes it’s for a few hours, a day or even on one case weeks. It is not my ISP, it is not my router, it is not my computer…it has to be something on the Anet side that they refuse to communicate to the players

I am having this same issue for a long time now (just like many others) and am not going through the london exchange so that can’t be the issue…at least not for me. Too many people having this problem and the only common thing I can see that we have in common is the game. And after tonights update it’s even worse, it would be nice to see some positive response from Anet on this, but I won’t hold my breath waiting
Since the wonderful SAB update the lag I have been experiencing on GW2 has been awful, to the extent on some occasions I just quit cos it becomes so frustrating to constantly see my character rubber banding and having no clue what is going on…this happens mainly in WvW but also sometimes in PVE……and now after last nights update I can’t even play PVE…..As soon as I log into GuildWars my DL speed drops from 4.5 mbps to .5 mbps, I log back out and DL speed goes back up. I have tested this frequently since the SAB update and am getting the same result every time. My DL speed works perfectly otherwise so there is definitely a problem with GW2. I have tried all the usual things, made sure BIOS, NIC, Grahpic drivers all up to date, have tried logging in with “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” /clientport 80 and with out that. Have opened ports etc but nothing fixes it.
Now I know GW2 wants to attract more customers and also to make money, but wouldn’t it make sense to keep your present customers happy and they will then tell all their friends, family etc what a great game it is….but right now the only thing I could tell people is to not waste their money until Anet gets this sorted
