Here’s my question though: Besides all of the specific sets (like those on gw2armor.com ) how can we find cool looking pieces that aren’t those top level sets?

You can’t preview from the trading post, and nobody seems to have a list showing the various possible pieces models and how to find a piece that uses that model.

For example I finally last night got a drop for a chest piece that isn’t a flat chain/scale boring chest. I have wanted something like it but have no way to find something that shares the model.

Is there any site that shows all of the various models and which gear names use them?

I have leveled 3 characters past 40 also, but only the one I specifically skipped all karma gear with and concentrated on events has enough to buy ONE piece of level 40 karma gear.

This begs the OP’s point, are the costs too high? I would say yes, especially for an item that as GCap has pointed out you will outlevel in very short order. What is the point of those vendors? What class uses a single weapon? Why would anyone want to make such a large karma investment for so little return? Also, if we are supposed to spend our hard earned karma on the level 40 vendors, what is the point of all the other minor karma vendors? In the current set-up you can’t have your cake and eat it too, you have to choose one or the other or none. Most people are choosing none now that word is out on the 42k karma per piece endgame gear.

These are the things that need to be considered. Why not remove those extra vendors? If they serve no purpose other than to give my computer something else to render, get rid of them. If they do serve a purpose, make them affordable.

Exactly my point. At the current costs as everyone here has pointed out you either shouldn’t buy them or buy them at 80 for skins. Why not just make them level 80 then? The current costs make them pointless at level 40.

Is it just me or is 9,800 karma for a level 40 weapon unreachable? Why even have these if nobody can actually buy them at the appropriate level?

Maybe it’s just me. If so, please share how you made over 10,000 karma by level 40.

Is there any command in the game that will allow me to query a player by name and find out their level or guild or class?
