I was in your situation some weeks ago – and on the other side some days ago. Did Mordremoth solo with my Dragonhunter while the Rest of the party watched.
My complete equipment had soldier stats, so it was easy, but took a long time.
There are really much better options to penalize death than this.

Hint: No game I know ever did this. Guess why…

kitten , I wish I had read this. Finished the achievment by accident on the wrong character, and now got a soulbound backpack where I don’t need it.
My stupidity put aside I think this a a rather strange design decision by Arenanet…

Was it Inquest Golem Mark II?
Got The same Problem, but only with this Boss.
@Blude: This has nothing to do with Autotargeting (it’s deactivated in my options)

Use Some Corruptions, then Plague Signet.

For me the main point of having targeted traps was the synergy with the trapper-runes and stealth. I was able to throw offensive traps away from me while being beaten and just dissapear.
Or I threw them on the attacker for damage and CC, depending on the situation. I use longbow and axe, and do not want to go melee in order to place traps on an opponent.
Also I do not use a condition build, so the improvements do not count very much to me.
Opening strike does not trigger any more on stealth, making it much harder for me to place those nasty 25 stacks vulnerability (by spamming traps) which my group seems to like a lot.
Maybe im just too old with my 44 years, but it took me a long time to find a build that suits my playstyle. Now it seems I have to find a new one. Hope it does not take another 2 years. ;-)

Tried this one after not having played for half a year. I remember finishing this quest with 2 chars before. It was hard, but doable. But now, with a lvl 60 guardian, I cannot even kill the first champion in the first part of the quest. He does heavy AOE damage to the NPCs, and despite of using symbol of faith and other heals I’m the only one left after about a minute or so.
Has this quest become even harder?
