SBI v BG v IoJ small commentary nothing important

As an IoJian. I have to give full respect to SB.

I now understand why we will never beat you guys.

We were running in EB with my guild with about 10 people. I think we wiped once in 3 hours and i collected approximately 150 badges. Lets just say if they counted kills towards WvW points we would have won on that night alone.

We ran to the other side of the zone where there were NO IoJ or BG there several times. And running past each keep saw us getting hit by no less than 3-4 siege weapons. You guys have multiple people on siege in every tower/keep regardless of whether it is seeing action or not. Now that is true dedication.

MY guildie said he could not understand why people would spend their free time on the weekend sitting on a siege weapon pressing “1” when they saw someone maybe 2-3 times an hour for no gain whatsoever. But now i know why. SB is truely dedicated to winning. I hope you guys do well in bracket 1

Nerf retaliation by changing its position.

<Player A> goes to use retaliation. Uses whirlwind instead.

Damage from retaliation in this scenario = 0.

melee warrior survivability in WvWvW

Here is the jist of surviving WvWvW as melee warrior.

Toughness = Survive AE Damage and pug damage (they dont assist)
Mobility = Survive everything else

Note: Glass Cannon Specced people will rip through your toughness by themselves.

So that pretty much leaves you with Mobility. The best survival spec is without doubt GS. Why? Because there are 2 mobility skills in there on short cooldowns. Whirlwind/Rush. No one/No class can kill you with these 2 up unless you are CCed. In about a second, i am out of range of everyone. Thats how survivable i am. My guild runs guardians with stability. So im immune to CC for the first 20sec of a fight. I also use sword/warhorn. By myself i have stability for around 10 seconds. Sword has a an awesome mobility skill and warhorn has a free anti-cc cleanse. I am so mobile i can jump on people who have barely rendered on the horizon of my screen. I can also disappear so quickly from any zerg.

Current issues

(1) Being constantly outnumbered
(2) Having to defend 24/7 against offpeak crews
(3) Points system makes it impossible to catch servers after a certain amount of time, making the rest of the rotation near pointless.

Proposed solutions
—————————————
(1) Point accrual is based on being outnumbered. If you are outnumbered 2:1, you accrue twice as many points as the opponent – this multiplier is retroactive. Additionally, no server can ever outnumber any other server by more than 50%.
(2) As opposed to a fortnightly point system. Or should I say a “2 week sprint”. The game is now changed to a “12 hour sprint”. Each sprint awards the server 1/2/3 pts, and at the end of the 2 weeks, the server with the most points wins and we rank from there. So in essence, servers still fight for 2 weeks. but we will see more direct results of our actions (or lack thereof). This is a biggie, but this is a great solution because it allows each time zone to effect the server outcome atleast for a sprint. And we can then rank servers depending on their strength in offpeak/peak hours. You could have important 12 hour sprints on friday/Saturday night that are worth more points. In this respect, the servers try harder during these times and we can see which server is truly greater without having to resort to backdoor points systems.
(3) The final few sprints of the rotation are worth more points. Servers can still fight it out in the last days of a rotation for points. Also each sprint has some minor reward. So fighting for points in the last few sprints of a rotation still gives players rewards instead of “impossible to make the points up” situation

WvWvW Realm Ranks and Abilities

I still disagree with the thoughts in this thread.

Sure the numbers need some tweaking (15% down to maybe 8-10% or so – depending on testing), but i am talking WvWvW. Where the fight is hardly even.

sPvP is an enclosed sandbox area where everyone is equal. WvWvW is different. We have people geared in full Exotics vs level 5s in Pizza Box armor. Ive often laughed with guildies in Vent when we hit someone twice and they vaporize.

At the same time, ive seen us get totally steamrolled with no hope of survival against a zerg. Its all part of the Open world experience. We come back and think smarter.

If you want a sandbox fight, then you go sPvP (“STRUCTURED” is the keyword here).
If you want open world (Key word" OPEN") then you go open world WvWvW.

People should see high ranking players and genuinely be instilled with fear and Terror.

I luffed DaoC when you saw the RR10 guys running around and you wouldnt even engage unless you had more numbers (before RR10 became Fotm). We want Pride and respect.

I have another suggestion. At RR5, your title becomes your name. so people actually see " Veteran Sooty" or whatever in red above their opponent.

Pride is one of the most important assets of an open world MMO.

Warrior Arms line with Rifle works well. 50% bleed duration with 10% extra damage to targets and +condition damage with pierce

very fluid spec.
9sec autoattack bleeds that pierce and stack and give you +10% damage. Not to mention it has a moving channel spell in volley which is nice burst, one of the best cripples in the game, a knockback, a vulnerability and a high burst adrenaline skill with long range.

Its everything you wanted in one line really.

Zerg vs Zerg is sucky. But small gank group style play we are one of the best classes, if not the best class.

LOL at people saying “Elementalist have a high skill cap”.

Ive played mages from EQ → DAOC → WoW → WAR →Rift

in GW2 they suck. People say you can be awesome if you are REALLY good at them. Not one single good elementalist vid out there (pwning good players – not BAD players). Pro teams avoid them for a reason.

The Mage class has always been a proactive class in MMO history. get in there, DD and CC when you think they are gonna jump you. In GW2, they are the most reactive class available. A lot of their AE has to be timed and they have to lead there targets. Ridiculous when dodge is inbuilt in to every class. Furthermore Anet is trying to avoid the holy trinity, so everyone else has the same burst/DD/CC yet the Elementalist in GW2 has the holy trinity cloth and HP.

This is the first time im not playing ranged in an MMO because i was so disappointed with the mage implementation in GW2.

How to fix them? How can you pretend to ignore Holy Trinity classes in a game when you enforce Holy Trinity Statistics and gear? I doubt Elementalists could be effective even if you increased damage by 25% across the board.

how do I use 100 B in WvW?

this is the problem I am having. I get burst down while channeling, and people simply move out of it.

iam level 10 now. what do I do?

Level 10 is fodder.

I noticed a massive difference (30-50%% dam increase) when i geared myself up at 80 vs being level 80. As level 10. you will have a couple of skills and thats it.

I want to play Axe + warhorn

I want to play Shield warrior

I want to be tanky defensive

I dont care that much about 100b.

But the fact of the matter is, the greatsword is by far our best weapon.

Its the most defensive weapon, the most offensive weapon, the weapon with the most damage potential. the only thing it lacks in is probably dueling long fights.

Sorry, dont care what people say about shield = defensive war. In open world, you get focused down, you pop shield block and you survive for a few seconds, but you get CCed up the wazoo, and the cooldown is far too long for you to retrigger. The GS offers me ridiculous mobility. I get low, i turn around, hit 3, then 5, and im out of range out of every ability in the game in 1.5 seconds. With a shield, i pop 5, i make a run for cover, but i have no mobility, so i dont get far. I feel helpless with a shield whereas i feel like i can survive vs a zerg with a GS.

And i dont buy this 100b only vs nubs bs.
100b works in all levels, even against high skilled opponents, the only difference being you have to suck their purge/cleanse out before you 100b. This is even easier in a real world environment when you are in an assist train. 100b burst is near unavoidable vs an assist train with many so many CC options (gg if you have a ranger buddy)

Ive done a lot of dummy practicing and 1 hand axe autoattack does more damage than GS, but the problem with axe is mobility.

Every class has an atleast one escape and every person has 2 dodge rolls. You need a fast refresh gap closer in every weapon you use. GS just happens to have 2 long range ones on a fast refresh.

Like I said, i want to play axe (its autoattack DPS is higher than GS), but you need mobility.

GS – easily our best weapon.

1. Whirlwind only hits people within close vicinity of me, despite the fact that i whirlwind way past them. It also unloads all damage instantaneously. I do all my damage within 0.1 seconds. (I hit like 3-5 times instantly for nice damage to those next to me, then i whirlwind far off and it doesnt hit people on my movement path)
2. Bullrush is lag dependent. I miss nearly all my Bull Rushs on unsuspecting opponents running away from me because of overseas lag and i rush the spot behind him instead of him.
4. Rush misses for me atleast 60% of the time. Same issue as Bullrush i think.
5. Some respecced skills sometimes dont work until you do a full log out.
6. Weapon swap sometimes has to be clicked multiple times for it to swap.

Strange that I feel FAR less mobile with axe/axe than i do with Greatsword.

GS is my fave, and i rarely use 100b. Its amazingly mobile weapon. Whirlwind and Rush are just life savers. I can dps for a few seconds, then when my health gets low i can rotate out of the frontline with dodge + whirlwind + rush + dodge. IMO its the best defensive weapon we have – more survivable than shield.

I consider HB a bonus skill that i use when the opportunity arises. it also makes enemies think on their toes.
