So now that I have eight level eighty characters (one of each class), what is there to do?
I’ve been playing since beta — done map completion, dungeons, master crafter, events, been a guild leader, done guild events, special events, other pve, spvp, tpvp, and a million hours of wvw (yes, a slight exaggeration), etc…
WvW was obviously my favorite, but now that they’ve added wxp and made it so that it’s per character, that pretty much kills the idea of having multiple toons, since working on your ranks would have to be done per character — unlike spvp, where you can get titles and the benefits of using all of your toons, you have to work on each toon separately. Horrid idea.
Anyway, I’m looking for recommendations and ideas on new things to do in GW2 to keep it fresh and keep me playing.
Can anyone throw any good ideas at me?
Thanks!

Currently, at the top of the Guild Menu, you see the following:
Name of Guild
75/184 Members Online
My suggestion is to show the following instead:
Name of Guild
56/75/184 Members Online
The first number represents how many people are Repping at the current time, the second number showing how many people are currently online who are part of the guild, and the last number showing the total of members, both online/offline.
In bigger guilds, it’s getting harder and harder to figure out how many members are currently Representing the guild without having to scroll down through the list and count them.
I’m pretty positive that this is one of the easiest implementations for a suggestion in the history of suggestions and it would be well worth it.

I’m working on my 7th level 80 character right now and about the only thing that I do is WvW. Having this character-based is going to be ugly. I like being able to play different toons at different times, but if this change is accepted to be character-based, I would have to choose one single character to play to make any advancement at all with the new ranks & abilities.
That doesn’t sound like any fun to me.

Can we make this the official [EVOHISSEXY] thread? ;-)
Looking forward to reset time this evening. Should be a fun week of great WvW in T4 with EB and CD.
Good luck and have fun!

I have around 8k kills and I have made over 4.5k badges.
Having 8 toons and hitting the JP every couple of days with all 8 of them + WvW kills makes this really easy.
I’ve also learned that you have more of a chance getting badge drops if you’re higher level, whether this is based upon damage output or just the higher level, I’m not quite sure yet.
AoE definitely brings the badges to the yard. If you’re able to throw down some AoE right off the bat, you’ll be raking in the badges once the bodies start piling up.
Also, be sure to be one of the first people doing the damage to your opponent(s), since that also seems to be a big variable in having the badges drop at an increased rate.
Just last night I was in a small group of about 5v5 with my Mesmer: I was able to throw down some AoE (chaos) right off the bat and I was able to pull 10 badges from 5 kills right then. That obviously doesn’t happen every single time, since random/luck also plays a big part, too, but that did happen recently.
Just my two cents.

@Sorrow:
Let me be the first to disagree with the “everyone would love that” assumption!
That’s definitely why I used a smiley face at the end of it; it’s a rarity that anyone will ever 100% agree with anyone else. ;-)
I think your needs could be -much- better served by ANet introducing an actual GvG mode akin to the Guild Wars 1 one, rather than reshaping WvW into a “no need to participate unless you’re in a large guild” thing. And yes, elevating members of large guilds over smaller ones or guildless players by giving them more recognition and more reward would have exactly that effect. On TC, the -majority- of all WvWers is NOT in one of the larger WvW guilds. WvW is a community effort carried by the whole server. By all means, I will support GvG coming to this game despite I am guildless myself. But in WvW, the only leaderboard that matters is the server ranking list. A guildless person who runs supply or escorts yaks is just as vital to the server’s success as the member of a big WvW guild running with their zerg. I can’t see any good reason to treat players differently just because one is in a big guild and the other one isn’t. That doesn’t make the slightest sense for WvW as a game mode. Like I said, what you’re really looking for is a GvG mode.
Great response and thanks for the input. I understand what you’re saying, but you also have to take into account that every single player is already different and is already treated differently. I’m sure if you look into a breakdown of players, you’d find that in “Guild Wars”, the majority of people are in a “Guild”, thus leaving the players who aren’t in a Guild as the lowest common denominator. What brings in the money to aNet and who has the biggest say in the community? It’s most certainly not the LCD.
Also, let’s take a look at the type of players we have: pre-casual, casual, semi-casual, semi-hardcore, hardcore, extreme-hardcore, raider, wvwer, pvper, professional gamer, farmer, pve-only, explorer, crafter, auction houser, social, etc.. etc.. The list of types of gamer is just about endless and there is content in the game for every single type of player out there — to an extent. Based upon the content of the game, all players are treated differently, based upon what type of player they are.
If you’re a hardcore player in PvP, WvW, or PvE, your experience is going to be much different in any one of those areas compared to that of a casual player, thus you are already being treated differently from the word go.
All I’m saying is that it would be cool to see where your guild stands in relative comparison to the other guilds on your server. Which guild is putting in the time, the effort, and the virtual blood and tears to see their server succeed. If you just so happen to be guildless or in a small guild, then the leader board won’t matter to you; if it happens to matter to you, then you’ll change your type of play and either join a bigger guild or create a new guild and begin working on it to get on the board.
The LCD shouldn’t expect the flow and the content of the game to be built up around them, they should expect the game to be focused on the masses and how to build up motivation for those masses to stay in the game and keep them excited and give them something to strive towards and for.

I think that the OP states some valid points here and even though I don’t agree 100% with everything that’s listed, there are definitely great talking points here that I would love to hear addressed by the devs.
I’ve been running WvW from day one on the same server: more hours solo than I care to admit, with small groups, small guilds, and now with one of the best guilds on my server. There are too many things that haven’t been addressed in WvW, too many things that seem to have been thrown in as a half kitten measure, and quite a bit that just seems broken at the moment.
I think the biggest point that I agree with is #2: “The roles/rewards/recognition of Guilds in a game called ‘Guild Wars’ is lacking”.
Whether you’re talking about WvW, sPvP, or PvE, I think that the roles/rewards/recognition of Guilds should be a center piece and a huge focus of every aspect of this game. As stated by the OP, “…the game is called Guild Wars…” and I think that being able to see (list? ladder?) the strongest guilds on your server for WvW, sPvP, and PvE would be an extremely motivational addition to the game as a whole.
Being able to see how your guild stands up to the other guilds, or tying to increase your guild ranking on the list/ladder, would be motivation for guilds to come together and do more events as a guild, and in turn push people to do more and be better — especially if there are rewards/benefits to being #1, or in the top 3.
I would love to see how many supply camps, towers, and keeps that my guild takes; to see how how many kills we’ve racked up as a guild; to see how many dungeons we’ve completed or how many quests/events were done; to see how many sPvP matches guildies have won — and then compare our accomplishments with the other guilds on our own server. The top 3 guilds (or whatever) gaining a bonus for the week, and the top #1 guild getting something extra-special, so that every guild is always working to try and be #1.
I’m sure that this is something that everyone would love to get behind and to see. ;-)
