Indeed, its a good matchup.. just look at the score rightnow, couldnt be much more interesting… i will never understand why people in this forum always adress eachother with the server names while the people writing here and especially the forum-fighters are such a insignificant minority of the WvW population.

On the lower Tier servers the advantage of the Breakout event goes to the already winning server. In the lower tiers there is at no time all maps full and usually 1-2 maps almost empty from each servers perspective. The highest populated or most organised server therefor usually is the first to do this event and get an extra advantage. Personally i think it was a try but anet should remove this change ASAP, it ruins the game experience. It totally removed the feeling of the achievement to clear his home border completely from enemys.

Does Anet actually have people that test their new inventions and people that actually played a bit of PvP/RvR/WvW in their past before they became Devs? Such a change makes me really loose faith in what WvW will be in the future – a large PvE zone with eventual enemy contact?

Vizunah Square, the only Server that was T1 from the start and now gets to Nr.1 again. This wont be repeatable, not by Blacktide not by any other Server that just got to the top because of WTJ.

We are a guild with players of different age and different origin all over europe. I would describe our character as a bunch of funny people taking the game serious when it comes to PvP challenges, but rather prefer a good atmosphere than an elite behaviour in our chats, although we are definitely aiming for the win! Our main focus is World vs World while competetive PvP is focused aswell in form of core groups (Battlegrounds) and larger guildgroups (WvsW)! I want to point out that we are not aiming to be a guild with a massive player-pool. Almost every member in [Rare] got great experience in MMO’s of all type and a guild with an active playerpool of , lets say, 20-40 members is alot easier to coordinate and alot more personal.

Rules:

- Joining other guilds next to <Rare> in GW2 is not allowed and hopefully not necessary – exceptions are pure PvE guilds.
- Don’t give the guild a bad reputation by acting like an idiot in public, you represent the guild, and any stupid behaviour gets reflected to the guild.
- Try to stay calm in every situation and give the most possible respect to everyone you meet. Trolls or people that are always looking for vengeance when they got flamed/griefed/ganked do not fit to our guild.

Expectations to applicants:

- Be a tollerant, open minded and friendly person, always willing to improve yourself and also willing to improve the guild as a whole. It will definitely help your application if you have made some experience in other MMO’s especially in the PvP sector. Thats basically all, if u bring that few attributes, i can say by my experience the rest will work fine automatically.

What <Rare> gives to you:

- A bunch of friendly and skilled players
- Dedicated leadership
- Great experience in WvsW-type gameplay (due to DAoC) and PvP gaming in general

Personally i got the feeling that Karma is a pretty useless currency at the moment.

My suggestion would be to make Siege Blueprints and keep upgrades more dependent on Karma and less on money. Anything else?

So your basically saying Blacktide is the only server that managed to organize the EU primetime activity for their Server? The fact that you could organize it is because you had a big pool of WvW oriented guilds joining Blacktide and nothing else. With a lot of players comes alot of players more that are able to shift their activity from night to day or day to night… easy as that. And ofc organized guilds that join another Server inform themselves about the coverage of the server of choice to not end up in hour long queue’s. Blacktide had a strong basic and thats why it counted to the stronger servers already before the massive immigration. But this immigration made you reach rank 1 and nothing else, just face it.

ArenaNet backstabbed a whole community with the implementation of Ascended Gear and you really wonder why people complain?

Funny how BT players really claim they got to Nr.1 without the help of external guilds… Why are you so afraid of the truth? NO Server will ever get to Nr.1 without external guilds and players joining them, Vizunah was an exception as they were the Server with the biggest nightcoverage from the start. I know of ATLEAST 5 good organized guilds that left the server i play on to join Blacktide when it was on the rise. Blacktide IS the best EU Server rightnow and this is not only because of the massive immigration they had. Ofc a solid basic is crucial to even attract other guilds and im sure Blacktide has this kind of basic. But saying you did that all on your own is just ignorant and everyone knows this is not possible the way ANet has made WvW.

Just kidding Congratz SFR to a well deserved and pretty obvious matchup victory! GL in Tier2. Thanks also to Riverside and maybe you will become a little more offensive in the future. You probably won’t see FSP back in Tier3 very soon as this week again took us a couple of more WvW oriented guilds. But we are taking it with a smile and keep working on solutions. What else can we do @ All patriotic FSP fighters, i wanna see u on the Battlefield tonight!

Why do you think that you did better than RS? Its always interesting to get an impression how our opponents see our strengths and weaknesses. I can only speak for Eternals, as thats our (DTK) main playground, and there I had the feeling that my commander-colleagues and I did a decent job. (Though we failed epical to take the green keep this forenoon and scrapped about 15 golems… ok ok, we have to improve our offensive skills… )

Well maybe once i bring up such a comment saying “we did better than Riverside” i should explain it otherwise it can’t be taken seriously.

First of all, your already 30k++ points ahead of us and unlike many others i also take the rank as an indicator of “being better or worse”. So in this case u obviously were the better server.

Let me try to explain why i think, from my perspective, we (FSP) did better than Riverside in this matchup. I really think we had a tough job to do in this matchup, both servers had a major focus on Far Shiverpeaks. I don’t say there has been any alliancing or something like that, i just think SFR had people in their ranks really hungry to kill FSP players and fight them with passion for several reasons (i actually know that this is the case). And those players, as very WvW active players also managed to make old SFR guilds put major focus on our Borderlands or our part of EB. Personally i enjoyed fighting the desertes aswell as it was not at all a situation we were not able to handle once we had a group (zerg) running, even though i admit that i’d still prefer to have Za Drot’s as an ally rather than an opponent
When i was out commanding i experienced a really unusual amount of doubleteaming against us. Maybe because we had been the weaker opponent from the start, maybe because SFR and Riverside simply liked to fight other opponents than just eachother for once, maybe because it generally has been some heat between SFR and FPS because of some happenings. There could be several other reasons too but for me it was obvious that FSP had a major focus on them by both sides. Im also not saying if i were in Riversides position that i would have act different tho.

Now that alone doesn’t make FSP the better Server than Riverside and i don’t know if we really are, i am just saying that from my perspective the encounters i had with my groups against Riverside, may it be open field battles or sieges, i think we won a majority of those. In rare occasions we even stood ground against both servers on our own Borderlands. I haven’t seen forceful attacks by Riverside, rather saw them kiting towards their keeps and then take advantage of their Siege even though we didn#t attempt to siege at this moment. None of the structures Riverside had in our part of EB or in our Borderlands have been really defended. Once a commander with a little sense of leading showed up and managed to get a zerg rolling it didn’t take us very long to take back what is ours It sure was different in your part of the map but to be honest, there was only a few occasions where we were actually able to leave our own areas because once we got a pug zerg (FSP currently is a pug server) bound to a tower in the enemy part of EB it was hard to reorganize them back to defend our EB homearea. When Riverside and FSP were almost even in points during the first 2 or 3 days in the matchup i really tried to put major focus on SFR with my groups in hope Riverside would start doing the same, but instead we had them running our bases. For me it seemed like Riverside had never the intention to win this matchup, which personally i see as a weakness. At the end there is a hell lots of factors that influence the outcome of a match and this is only my subjective PoV.

Only 2 big WvW focused guilds left FSP? In 5 seconds i can think of atleast 5++ and several guilds that partially left FSP (mostly their WvW active members). Not all of them switched to SFR. The majority actually joined Blacktide (what else). GF for example was 2 month on FSP and is now mentioned to have a big responsibility to get Blacktide to Nr.1. Guilds like Green Fire actually encouraged other guilds to follow them, using the FSP community forum for that.

But enough whining about that, i and many other WvW focused players had a hard week on FSP and i was close to surrendering and throwing the towelie, but yet even in this week there were moments when i saw that this server actually evolves a community and this might be basic for a longterm fun experience even if we may never make it to Tier1 again (which personally will always be my aim tho). I think success is greatly linked with joy and fun but theres another factor that FSP now has a solid basic for, pride.
I’ve spoken to a couple of players of SFR and i have some old friends from DAoC playing there aswell and from what i heared the community, all in all is a good one with a nice community homepage (something FSP yet lacks) and a fundamental core of players and guilds that have build up this community and appear to be very close to their Server no matter if Tier 1 or Tier 8. I respect that.

When FSP had it’s downfall not only a major part of the WvW population left us to “have more fun”. We also lost community representatives and administrators for the “planned to be” community website of the server. There’s steps into the right direction now like a TS3 server that can finally be used by everyone because the hosters are not leaving the server and where every guilds can create their own channel. Yet the forum has to become more open for everyone and should really contain a livechat function like i saw it on the SFR homepage. I know that some people are working on it already but it could be speeded up a bit if it would be more open for all (also in the administrative ranks).

I am really looking forward to the next matchup. I don’t say like many others that i am happy to go back to Tier4, no i am not. But i am happy to hopefully engage equal opponents again and have some great battles which is needed to keep the longterm motivation for our server up. I am quite optimistic that in the future FSP will also stand its ground against Servers like SFR again (tbh I think we did better than Riverside in this matchup even though the points speak different but this is only my personal field experience as a commander this week and can be seen from many different angles).

Now this goes out to my realmmates! Spread the word that on Friday night the cards will be reshuffled and Far Shiverpeaks has some interesting plans on the desk to show off on friday. Several guilds will participate and i hope you and your friends will be with us!

Just another punch in the face for people that wasted several hundreds of hours to obtain such an item, and now ANET throws them out like it was random loots in a 3 hour event where not everybody was able to take part in? Sad…

80% of the fighting in this matchup have been around FSP Borderland and FSP’s part of Eternal Battleground. If u deny that ur not playing enough WvW. And this is not a QQ post just a fact and a try to keep the moral up for my homeserver as people start to get frustrated just by the look at the points. Nor SFR or Riverside have superior tactics or strategys, they simply have more WvW players and guilds. Once a Zerg on FSP is formed and moving we still manage to bring pain to our enemys.

If i were in Riversides position i would probably go for FSP aswell to secure the Tier 3 spot, but i don’t really get why SFR is also putting major focus on FSP parallel to Riverside even though they already won this matchup anyway. Now u will say all the map is green anyway, and ur right that ur capping Riverside also time to time, but once there is resistance in either Riverside or FSP BL u always choose FSP. Dropping back down to Tier4 is not a big deal and people can think what they want about FSP, the community has become a really tough one and i can see a positive development. What we lack is numbers and a couple of organised guilds that are not relying on commanders.

I didn’t mean to sound like a kitten but the situation is frustrating for the last few dedicated WvW players on FSP that are not part of huge guilds and were taken over to another server. And now facing that our major WvW alliance, which people once relied on, is a PvE alliance is making it not any easier. However i dont want to make this a flame topic so im just sucking it and heading back to WvW! Cu out there

Well you always got reasons for a winning team join but nevermind. The bigger joke is actually what is going on rightnow. FSP obviously the weakest server between the matchup and this is what the map usually looks like.

Since the matchup almost every fighting is going on in our Borderland or in our part of EB. It is pretty interesting

Just met a guild called “Far Shiverpeaks Deserters”. Don’t get me wrong i don’t downgrade your Server and the people that fought for SFR from the beginning, but fact is you are benefiting alot from those winning team joiners. If you were on a Server from the beginning through its ups and downs u can still be proud to win any battle no matter under what circumstances, those “deserters” however can’t

Atleast the ones getting FSP back to Tier 3 can be proud unlike the winning team joiners on SFR. Atm Riverside and SFR focusing on us, seem Riverside accepted they wont go up anymore, kinda dumb anyway.

they better speed things up, would be a shame if there would still be servers going up and down in ranking

Since a few days im lagging horribly in the WvW zones, i checked everything and it can not be my own connection. Atleast i didn’t found anything.

Anyone else has the same problem? I am from germany if that matters.

I as a player who only plays this game for WvW feel backstabbed like never before in another game. If it comes out, that this new armor with better stats will be usable in WvW, i will quit the game and might even contact my lawyer to make an example. I am already collecting official quotes of employees about the merchandising of GW2 not being a gear grind game. I know this must sound ridiculous to most, but this is for me an obvious case of fraud to the customer. Lets see what my lawyer says.

If there will be gear that is even 1 stat point better than exotic gear is currently, ANET has broke with a major promise they made and that will put ANET in a very bad light for me forever. Will ofc stop playing GW2 as a result aswell. Sad to read those things really really sad.

ive seen a couple of this in the TP and i wonder where u can get the items other than the Slippers? Someone told me they drop on the 2 Champions in the Lab and that they will also drop for toons < lvl 80 ? Is that true?

jeah it is fun for sure but it would be nice if there would be a reward for doing it like 50 times or so^^

i accidently bought Light Armor when i needed Heavy Armor… Fail… now i spend a lots of dungeon token on it since it wasnt only one part and asking myself if there is a way to get back the tokens or switch the armor, Dungeon armor is generally soulbound on acquire so cant rly do anything with it now …
