Wasn’t particularly trying to shame anyone with my post; it’s just that you get more invested in the towers and keeps when you spend hours upgrading them. It opens you up to frustration and anger when they get roflstomped in seconds. Hence the outrage against certain servers. With your playstyle, you’re pretty much impervious to any pain, and until anet implements The Perfect Matchup System in 2035 that’s probably the superior way to do it. (yeah, I could have PM’ed this. no, I’m not sorry to interrupt the thrash talk.)

From my perspective (roamer operating in 1-5 groups) Abaddon is a server like any other – has small groups (1-5), has zergs… I see no difference fighting Abaddon, Vizunah, Piken or Aurora. Be it a raiding guild or a zerg, for me it is like a volcano; an environmental disaster to avoid. And all servers have some people operating in small groups; haven’t met any without, yet.

I think I need help understanding this. What do you do with a group of 1-5? Flip camps and hope to get some skirmishes against similar sized groups?

I get it that from your perspective, a blob is no different from a “normal” sized zerg, but for some of us playing a different style, the size of the zerg matters quite a bit. If our blob can’t match theirs, then those camps don’t really matter at all. Because all that nice stuff that the supps buys us, will just be torn down in seconds…

Having a t3 tower means something in an evenly matched field, because what the fortifications do is buy time for the cavalry to arrive. But if the cavalry is just 5 guys sharing one horse, then what’s the use?

You’re ok with this week’s matchup, because you’re playing a different game. I’m not ok with this week’s matchup, because it makes a total mockery of the strategic elements of the game. The way it stands, anet should just remove all the towers and keeps and design a proper roaming game.

I’m happy with GH, and I think we’re doing ok with what we got. But we’ve had some gruelling opposition these last weeks, and it’s wearing me out. Guess I’ll take a while off and come back when I’ve more energy and the matchups are better

As you stated yourself your memory isn’t that good anymore, I’ll help you….the matchup you referred to was AM vs GH vs Piken Square not FSP, and YOU finished last in that round 34.000 Points behind us….and the main reason the difference wasn’t much more was probably that PS kicked our kitten so hard that a lot people were frustrated and played only very little that week(just like you now)

Nah, I remember well that we played FSP as that was a tense match that we managed to clinch at the finish. Good times The last team was UW, but I’m not sure anymore if the sandbagging comment was given at that time… Seems I just made a mess of things, so sorry yet again for that.

As to the Piken matchup, I didn’t play much that week, so no idea what went on. I was there at the reset, and they razed us before my coffee had finished brewing, and then they proceeded to establish a WP in our BL in absolutely no time at all… Tried to help in defense a little, but didn’t take long to realize that I’d be better off saving my energy for the next week. It was no place for an amateur

As to who belongs where, I’m not a die-hard wvw’er, so I don’t know all the servers. As it stands now, though, it certainly doesn’t feel like we should be in the same league. It’s not terrible during prime-time (although getting in at that point isn’t easy), but we simply don’t have the numbers outside of that.

I got myself a little amped up before the league started, but it’s worn off now.

I’m sorry to tell you this but we certainly did NOT “demoted ourselfs to silver league”, since release we haven’t been once at a Rank that would qualify us for gold league, furthermore we were for something like 18 weeks straight at rank 11, so please accept this as a fact!

My memory’s not all it used to be, but in one of the last matchups before the league started, it was FSP, GH and… AM, was it not? You (or, if i remember incorrectly, that other team) finished dead last with a terrible score, and the word was you were losing on purpose to ensure you’d play in the silver league.

Again, provided I remember correctly: How do you explain that week’s effort? Maybe you didn’t demote yourselves directly, but neither does it seem you applied yourselves any to get that promotion that would have made this season much more fun for you.

Other than that, you’ll get the blobbadon comments because this week’s fight is very frustrating. It may not be anyone’s fault, but it’s frustrating none the less…

Just don’t complain when we use golems to make it faster: you already know the outcome. If I were you I’d go back to farm Tequatl.

The thing is: you should be in the big league facing similar sized coverage. Instead you chose to get yourself demoted to silver league so that you could faceroll your way to victory. You’re the ones ruining the fun for everyone.

But you’re right, I’m back to pve for the remainder of the matchup. I might play EB in prime time, but I’m not gonna waste hours building stuff in BL just so you can tear it down with sheer numbers the second it’s done.

If only… if only, there were a different way of making a couple of silvers in this game without having to scour the WvW maps looking for a flipped sentry But, oh no, cruel anet made it so that the only way of procuring 30 silver was to stay up all night, hoping for pot shot at a lower tier keep.

Why does life have to be so cruel? Not to mention boring?

it’s the only way for us to get loot as all the guilds from gh flee the moment they see even a non-blob group of AM people together they go inside their keeps rather then fight. at least in taking a keep we get some silver. It will surely be a boring week.

The reason they flee is because any apparent non-blob will soon be followed by one huuuuge megablob. We don’t take the bait anymore. Deal with it.

And if you think it’s boring, then gee whiz, maybe you shouldn’t have sandbagged your way into silver league. You made your own bed, now sleep in it.
