Just an update…still crashing. Thought we had a breakthrough when Support suggested configuring the router so specific ports were available and open. The first time I did that I connected directly to the modem and it was fine….no crashes. I’m plugged directly into a wireless router so I configured the router to open those ports. It worked at first but after 45 minutes the game froze. Today I tried again and there was another update loaded and I got a bsod within a few minutes. I’m still working with Support and hoping there’s a solution.
OK, bad news. The game updated today when I started it up and sure enough, froze and crashed 5 minutes into the game, had to manually restart computer. Had absolutely no problems yesterday, no crashing at all. Tried something I read on another forum..cranked up the gpu fan speed to 100% as sometimes the vram heats up on this card. It seemed to work but later on it blacked out and crashed again. So, back to square one…don’t know what’s causing it but it seems to change every time there’s an update.

OK, this is weird. New update today and problems are gone…well, so far no crash. Crossing my fingers and hoping it stays that way.
I’ve been trying all kinds of things but still no real success…it eventually blacks out and not always restarts. I’ve tried turning off virtual memory, even installed monitoring software to check it was a voltage problem but voltage stays constant. I know I don’t have a problem with Precision X as I didn’t install it until way after the crashes started.
I appreciate all of the suggestions, from both ArenaNet and the other players…thanks! I tried re-testing all of my hardware but no problems detected. Will keep on trying.
I’ve been running it awhile with no crashes..crossing my fingers… The only thing is, this is what I did: Used DDU Graphic Driver Uninstaller (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) to completely remove all graphic drivers. Reinstalled the original drivers from the install CD (v. 347.25, dated 1/2015). Tested it but it still crashed so I installed EVGA Precision X and underclocked my card about a 100MHz. Running graphics options at “best performance”. Been able to do a world boss, farm a bit and I stopped at 45 minutes. Normally it crashes between 5-15 minutes. Not the greatest but it seems to work…for now. I will try tweaking later to see how high I can go w/o crashing. I sent in a support ticket w/a crash report so maybe they can tell me more.
This sounds like it’s possibly related to voltage levels falling below what your card is trying to pull, thus causing your drivers to card to reset and drivers to crash. As with many black screens and crashes of this nature where the game stops responding and going to black (especially with Windows 10), your Nvidia Drivers are crashing and failing to recover.
Thanks for your suggestions. I don’t think it’s voltage. This card is only a few months old and it’s a GTX 750 TI that uses 60 watts and it replaced a GTX 460 v2 that uses 160 watts. Never had any problems running the game on that older card. and I’m running Windows 7, 64 bit. Pretty sure it’s graphics related… I crashed again but I was on for quite awhile before it happened. I have a support ticket and am working with them. Being hopeful that there is a solution.

Just saw Nvidia released an updated driver today so took a chance and installed that. Ran GW2 and it crashed again…just a black screen & restart about 5 minutes into the game, still running low graphic settings. This time, I think it generated a crash report so I’m attaching it…hoping it helps. Thanks.

I’m not getting the crash dialog or the crash text. Most times, the computer just blacks out and restarts. Sometimes I’ve had a bsod but funny, not always getting a crash dump either and those that I got have had different errors. I work with computers and I have been trying to pinpoint the cause of the errors and everything points to the game update. I have tested all of my hardware, ran other graphic intensive games and no other software causes this kind of issue/error or the computer to restart. I have never had any problems running GW2 until this last update. Looking at other threads running on Reddit, I’m wondering if this is affecting a lot of Nvidia graphic cards? maybe only certain models?
I’ve been having the same issue. Random crashes and there seems to be no pattern to them. Was having a lot of bsod first but reinstalled client and it seemed to run ok. Then set graphics to “best performance” and subsample to “native” as other people said that helped. Now it either freezes or just forces the system to restart. Happens every time I play GW2 and only GW2. The computer runs perfectly with everything else. fyi – running a Nvidia GTX 750 TI card. Tried uninstalling current driver and using older drivers but problem still persists.
