Soulbeast was awesome!

I kept wondering that if Dolyak Stance had worked and we had another skill that could share stability (maybe like F3 on bear) we could be really good wvw frontliners.

Mesmers stole Alacrity from Revenant

Rolls Eyes

So if we are going down this tinfoil path. Have you considered that Chronos may go back in time to give it to Ventari? After all. He didn’t have it from the beginning, otherwise Revs would have had it right from the bat. So the most possible explaination would be that a chronomancer took pity on the Revs (perfectly understandable) and went back in time to help them.

Mesmers stole Alacrity from Revenant

tappajabob.5983

Do you think Alacrity was invented by mesmers? You are wrong.

Alacrity was invented 22nd day of February 2017 by Ventari revenants. And the moment is was created it was stolen by time traveling Chronomancers who took it and transferred the ability back in time to HoT relase and falsely claimed its their own tech.

Alacrity should be removed from Chronomancers and be given back its rightful owners, the revenants.

Revenants invented alacrity, not mesmers. Its a fact.

Purging Bombs

Hi,

Some commanders in wvw ask for Purging bombs from guardian. Are they referring to the Purging Flames? What is the point of these “Purging Bombs”, the damage seems really low and condition cleanse only works if you cast it on allies.

Shield WvW build?

tappajabob.5983

Hi!

Ever since I started GW2 I wanted to use a shield in wvw battles. Thing is that it sucked balls and big boys told me it will never be possible and I should forget my dream.

Yesterday I saw an enemy guild running around in borderlands. They managed to defeat one of our guilds and did really good against our much bigger PUG group too. I noticed at least some of those hostile guardians had shields on!

So my question is: “Is shield viable in wvw ZvZ fights? Are there any changes to the build if you are using a shield?”

Change Sigil of Nullification

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Nullification

Even though today’s metagame is largely defined by massive boon uptime and boonsharing this is a sigil that sees zero play in large scale wvw. The Sigil doens’t see play because it sucks.

I was wondering what kinda changes this sigil would need to see in order to get played. And the question of this thread is: How Sigil of Nullification would need to change so that you would play it in wvw.

Here are some possibilities:
1. Internal Cooldown (ICD) from 10 to 5.
2. ICD from 10 to 3.
3. ICD from 10 to 1.
4. Effect made into AoE like Sigil of Fire.
5. AoE effect and ICD from 10 to 5

Karka are NOT "Metal".

The Bard

New mechanic – Play instrument:
F5 to swap into your bard instrument, weapon skills are replaced by support AoE skills.

New skills: Shouts that support allies or weaken enemies

New weapon: MH dagger with ranged autoattack, summon phantasman and semi-backstab.

Xpac 2: what could replace DH/Longbow?

in Guardian

Posted by: tappajabob.5983

tappajabob.5983

My idea of guardian’s 2nd specialization: “The Librarian”

They wouldn’t get a new ranged weapon to replace the bow, but they would get “Tome” skills that are kits like engineer kits and they give access to ranged damage skills. For example condition damage kit would look like this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_Wrath ; D

As for the new weapon… The idea of this specialization doens’t care about specific weapon. It could be anything.

Did I understand this correctly?

Win the skirmish on prime time, get X points.
Win the skirmish during “night”, get X points.
Win the skirmish during “morning”, get X points.
Win the skirmish during “daytime”, get X points.

If I did how are people saying that it is unfair for their time zone?

I usually play a guardian, and when I need to regroup with squad I change my build from shouts frontline into meditation build. I swap utilities, few traits weapons, amulet, ring and one trinket.

Change takes me 10s to do and I can do it while walking.

The medi build I swap to wont be the best, but it is able to either escape or fight most players.

Guardian monopoly on AoE stability

in WvW

Posted by: tappajabob.5983

tappajabob.5983

Let’s just eliminate guardian and parcel out what little it still does well to other classes.

Do you really think that those small changes to other profession’s stability skills would make guardian obsolete? Or am I just misreading you?

I think even with these changes the wvw guilds and pug groups would still have to rely on guardian as their main stability bringer, but hopefully some would get replaced by engineers and mesmers too.

tappajabob.5983

Hi!

2. Is there something else you would like to see done to stability instead?

I would like to see other profession’s AoE stability skills made better. At the moment there are only 2 good AoE stability applying skills in the game, they both belong to the guardian. For example engineer’s Toss Elixir B and mesmer’s Mantra of Concentration would be more convenient skills to use if their effect radius was bigger. Or maybe it would be possible to introduce new ways to get stability for example make mesmer’s F3 shatter give stability when it is traited with Bountiful Disillusionment.

I made a more detailed post about the matter yesterday: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Guardian-monopoly-on-AoE-stability/first#post6136239

Mantra of Concentration wants love!

tappajabob.5983

Hi!

I want to use Mantra of Concentration in wvw to give stability to allies. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mantra_of_Concentration

However I have 3 problems:

  1. It has small radius of 240. Often I end up giving stability to only 1 dude as opposed to 5. For example guardian’s shouts have radius of 600.
  2. The cooldown is kinda long. After I have charged the skill I can use it 2 or times with 2s between uses. Then I have to charge it again and cooldown is 25s.
  3. Cooldown starts when stacks are used up, not when the “recharging skill” is used.

I am hoping that one day the skill would be made better for group play. For example it would be nice to see radius increased to 600 and cooldown reduced to 20 seconds or cooldown start point changed to “end of recharge” instead of “last charge used”.

I want AoE stability skill for wvw

in Engineer

Posted by: tappajabob.5983

tappajabob.5983

Hi!

I want to have a skill that I can use to give AoE stability to myself and my allies in wvw. As an engineer I almost have one: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toss_Elixir_B

  • It has a low cooldown of 16,25 s when traited.
  • It gives stability for at least 5,75 s unless the 3 stacks run out or are removed.
  • As a bonus i get the actual elixir B.

However there are two things that make this skill very unpractical to use:

  • small radius of 180, often I can only give to myself and 1 dude.
  • cast time of 0,5 seconds. Guardians can use their shout instantly and break stuns with it. Mine can get interrupt if I mess up.

Would it be too much to ask to have the radius increased to for example 600 or cast time reduced to 1/4 seconds to make the skill more convenient to use?

Guardian monopoly on AoE stability

in WvW

Posted by: tappajabob.5983

tappajabob.5983

I would like to see other professions AoE stability effects made playable in wvw to promote build diversity.

Guardian has de facto a monopoly on AoE stability abilities in wvw. That monopoly comes from shout “Stand Your Ground” and trait “Indomitable_Courage”. Stability is the single most important boon in wvw group fights and any attempt to engage on a group of over 20 players without having stability is doomed to fail.

Here are guardian’s sources of AoE stability:

They are both great and meta defining skills. They give long enough stability and have good range (600 and 1200) so your allies get their stabi even if you aren’t standing exactly on top of them. They are both instant abilities (unless you are a dragon hunter), which makes using them much more convenient than other profession’s alternatives. Shout has a low cooldown and the trait has few ways to play around it’s long cooldowns. (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Courageous_Return and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Renewed_Focus)

Other professions have some access to AoE stability for example:

These other professions do have some access to AoE stability, but it seems to pale in comparison with Guardian’s.

Well of Precognition and Inspiring Reinforcement only give stability if you stay inside the skill’s effect, in dynamic wvw fights that is often not good enough. In theory you would be able to drop these skills on your opponent and fight there, but the enemy usually moves away and these skills end up doing nothing.

Toss Elixir B and Mantra of Concentration seem to promise a good stability uptime. For example Elixir B when traited has only 16,25 seconds cooldown and the stability would last at least 5,75s unless removed. Mantra lets you drop the stability in small doses of 3 stacks for 2 seconds and recharge the skill when you are regrouping for example. But in practice these skills fail short too. Toss Elixir B takes time to cast and its radius is only 180. Power break has kinda long cooldown after you have used the charges and the area is small 240 radius too.

What I would like to see is these skills made a bit better so the Guardians wouldn’t be the only profession who gets to give stability to allies. I wouldn’t mind if the guardian would still remain the “Best” stability bringer, but in my opinion boosting the stability application for other professions would allow players to try out different group compositions and builds.

What kind of changes I am talking about? For example:

  • Toss Elixir B radius increased to 600.
  • Power Break radius increased to 600, cooldown reduced to 20 seconds.
  • Inspiring Reinforcement stability time increased from 1 to 2 seconds.
  • Well of Precognition stability time increased from 1 to 2 seconds.

These changes wouldn’t make the skills better than guardian’s AoE stability skills, but I believe they would make the skills more viable and we would see more mesmers and engineers in wvw group builds.

If you like my idea please show your support! If you think my idea is ~ok but could use some tweaking don’t hesitate to post your suggestion into the mix. If you think my idea is horrible tell that too! But please try to be gentle and don’t crush my hopes and dreams too violently.

How long were Alpine Borderland travel times?

stuff

They the same, with swiftness, as I said my guild has timed the whole thing. You didn’t use the special cutoffs (the portals) that Gari owners have. We have timed it and it is the same. It is not hard to get to either – in fact Bay in the new BL is even easier to get to since there is a cutoff through the wall right by the west gari shrine. There are videos on youtube that show exactly what I am talking about….

Today I ran from SW spawn to earth keep and it took me around 3 minutes, would be really cool to be able to it in half time, so I tried to search for youtube video that you talk about here but couldn’t find them… If you have the link to them somewhere can you post it?

How long were Alpine Borderland travel times?

Hi!

I played on Alpine Borders maybe 3 times. Mostly did EBG. My wvw rank is below 100.

In every topic on this wvw forum people mention that it takes very long in the desert border to travel between objectives. From spawn it takes ~3 min to reach any keep.

I really dont have any estimates how long did it used to take in the “old border”. I would really appreciate if somebody could tell how long it took to get from Alpine border invader and defender spawn to:

1) Bay
2) Hills
3) Garrison

Why would you want to want to interrupt a duel? Does it make you feel good that you can kill somebody in 2v1 situation? Or are you after the rewards? 2 spikes in your inventory make you happy?

I always taunt my teammates when they ruin those 1v1 fights.

When I see a dragonhunter in large scale wvw I expect he is something like this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVEQJARWnsABtCh9CBWdC8DhlEiS+5n+r/aZDgDIbG+vAE-TlSDwAwU/ZwRAQvmgEPAAa7PAwEUUlfw1BI5SAoQJIZAK2CA-w

This build is called something like “AH – Frontliner”. AH means Altruistic Healing (trait) that gives guardian a small amount of healing when he gives boons to allies. Assuming the guardian has enough allies near him/her it turns every skill into mini-heal. For example “F1 skill” that trows the spear also gives might to allies and can heal the user for around 1000 hp. Staff skill 4 “empower” can in total heal 6000 hp. AH helps guardian live in those long team fights.

As a frontline guardian this build supports its allies by giving them Stability. “Stabi” prevents opponents from getting stunned/dazed/knocked down. Shout “Stand your Ground” gives 5s to you and your allies within shout range. “F3 – Shield of Courage” also gives some stabi, but more importantly creates this shield in front that is strong enough to deflect any bombardment. (Unless its unblockable or comes from behind the shield!).

If you want to get into large scale wvw it would be good build to try out.

In my experience most fights go something like this:

1. You follow the commander, try to stay as close to him as legal.
2. Commander spots enemy group and moves closer.
3. He/she asks for “Empower” or simply uses his/her’s own empower. At this point use your staff 4 skill.
4. You move even closer to the enemy. Stay with your brave commander. If you are close enough to cast your staff 3 “Symbol of Swiftness” into enemy feel free to do it. You can also cast staff 5 “Annoying Wall”. If you are able you can use F1 to pull an opponent into your group!
5. Either commanders calls for “stabi!” or just rushes into the enemy. At this point you use your stability shout or “F3 shield of justice” to make sure you can follow him.
6. Use a leap skill “F2” or “greatsword 3” to get to enemy. Use weapon skills 5 and 2 to damage opponents. Stay close to your commander.
7. Commander retreats. You follow him. You are most likely in need of heals. Commander calls for heals. Use staff 4 and 2 to heal as much as you can.
8. You most likely attack again and steps 4-8 keep repeating until either side is defeated.

1. Avoid red circles and big AoE. Nothing can save you if you walk into necromancer’s “bomb”.
2. Active use of shelter, F3 and Reneved Focus to stay alive. You are not allowed to die before you have used them all.
3. Stay near allies. Lonely targets get picked of easily!
4. Continuous stream of small healing.

If I see a dragonhunter in small scale wvw I expect it to be more like this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVEQJARTlsAhqhY3QwcIwPELJE11yGAJQW+9fBo8zP9ZPA-T1hFwAr2fAwDA4k6PJuAAGV+dWXQVlgkCwclRA-w

This time they are more focused on self healing through “Meditations” and have sacrificed a lot of their group support and defense to achieve more damage. These dudes can wreck you in matter of seconds if they can land all of their attacks.

If my writing helps even one bit I am really happy.

Why did you make a Guard?

in Guardian

Posted by: tappajabob.5983

tappajabob.5983

I made a guardian because that is what I am in real life too. Here is a list of properties that make me IRL guardian:

  • I work to keep my team empowered
  • Strong belief in justice
  • Resolve to see things to end
  • Courage to act when others fail
  • Sick concentration ability
  • Sometimes meditate
  • Always use protection
