Holy Grind Wars 2!

guild wars has veered so far off track since the release of the original guild wars, that the game is hardly recognizable. those of you who remember playing the beta weekends of the first guild wars remember the true nature of what was started, what was created, and what was to come.

this was an anti grind series, built for pvp with a optional pve sector. there were no other tiers of weapons than what the current level suggested. what made pve fun was finding the hard to find weapons or material for the armor, and using it on your pvp (not pvp only) characters.

the only true grinding was for ranks of various sorts, things that didnt give you an edge, totally meaningless to anyone but yourself and a few shocked onlookers.

now we have to grind for the best grade gear, not the skins, but the gear. laurels for example, take quite a bit of time to accumulate to get some trinkets. other currency only items as well. anet, make base skin of the highest tier weapons/armor that cant be altered so we can all be on the same playing field.

how to get a party for (VoD)?

Remove "Downed" state in pvp please

IMHO this is the most annoying aspect of the game, the downed state, but only in pvp.

Its a nice feature in PVE, makes sense and seems balanced. In sPvP, its very dumb. I, like the rest of you, have to kill somebody just to kill somebody. The downed state isnt balanced due to different classes having different choices regarding the downed state and how to handle it, and handle its teammates when they are downed.

I have a few suggestions:

If downed state is to remain:
a) prevent the downed player from doing anything but attacking with the first option “1”, no interupts, no stealth, no healing, no misting, etc etc
plus
b) prevent the downed player from being rez’d by his teammates until they are completed dead.

or

c) the downed player can only try to heal himself with a 2s cooldown if interupted, meaning no attacking, no interupting, no etc etc
plus
b) prevent the downed player from being rez’d by his teammates until they are completed dead.

either of the above combo plus:
instant ability to teleport back to base via wp after you have completely died, giving you the option to wait for a rez if you wish, or teleport back as soon as you can click the link.

Another side comment – tastegw, that is probably most expensive set I’ve seen so far. It requires 3 gem store purchases and T-3 chest piece… And for the love of god, take that ugly, non-matching pauldron off and your set would be perfect

what shall i replace it with, any suggestions

Not getting criticals with 'unload'

The easy one to test is rune that has 60% chance to inflict bleeding on crit, I forget the rune name, I’m fairly new and at work

I’ve noticed I am getting no “on critical” effects with the dual skill ‘unload’ is this normal?

I run a critical dependent build, and rely on the “on critical” effects for cripple, bleeding, etc, and it just does not seem to trigger while using my main damage skill.

Was this intended?

Woo, I thought I was the only one for a hot minute.

I was a big big fan of GW1 PvP, GvG or HOH, both were fantastic IMHO

I just got GW2 last week, game has some very nice features, but when I tried PvP I was left thinking afterwards… What the f was that!

I could care less what my character looks like, so that’s not an issue. It was the lack of balance and methods used. I am left feeling like PvP was not a priority in this game, while in the first GW PvP started as the main focus, and was hella fun before the addition of the expansions.

This PvP seems like a bad version of the random areas, in a bad game mode. I really can’t get into the WvW either, not my cup of tea. I miss the good ol fashion GvG slugging it out till one team is down for the count or the ruthless 2-6 team brawls in the Hall of Heroes and that sweet journey to get to the final map, then holding it or trying your hardest because you know it’s a long journey back.

I’m not a big PvE fan in online games, that’s what single player games are made for, predictable AI over and over isn’t fun IMO.

It’s not often I find the original better than its successor, but in this case, GW1 PvP blows the doors off GW2.
