I generally concur, especially in regards to culling.

As far as skill lag though, this is mostly dependent on CPU power, and if you upgrade your CPU most of your skill lag will disappear (except for those rare occasions when the WvW server itself is lagged for whatever reason). Also you can re-encode MPEG2 videos to H.264 that much faster. Pwnz

Specifically, a Bristol Meyers fuzzbox is a rocket-stabilized platform some one meter square upon which is mounted a small crate containing WvW delectables such as PPT, zerg, cull, and gearfruitgolemboard. By mounting the fuzzbox and actuating its thrusters via the magically imbued control panel, one can pwnz the opponent with a combo of skill, combos, luck, zerg, cull, board, and combos.

JQ seized my Bristol Meyers fuzzbox but luckily my password encryption algorithms were airtight and I self-imploded the ’box roughly 3 minutes ago before JQ could get any use out of it.

The solution to all our problems is simple. During times when one server has more players than the others, turn the players into doors, and the doors into players. Then, it will be Door vs Player, and it will be much more even.

Seriously though, I too welcome even battles, and I play WvW to have fun, so if one server is ahead in PPT and one isn’t, or score, or whatever, I don’t mind, as long as the fights are fun. I salute JQ on their superior scoring at this point, and I salute SoS for the past, and I salute SoR for similar, and I say – ROCK ON

I would enjoy officially hearing whether the queue size had been decreased recently. It seems like it has.

I am perplexed as to how Dark Age of Camelot had more people in WvWvW 10 years ago and we didn’t even know what ‘culling’ was because it never happened, yet a modern game using vastly superior internet connections and CPUs can’t handle more than 30? people onscreen at once. See also Rift, another modern game where no one has ever even heard of ‘culling’ because it never happens, yet it can also have massive matchups in open world PvP (as well as much PvE action).

Neither DAoC nor Rift ever had the strange ability lag you get in truly massive matchups either (although GW2 has apparently reduced the WvW maximum amounts so far now that we never get that many players at once anymore).

Overall I am disappointed that GW2’s design is somehow unable to handle what is truly needed for fun WvW matchups. WvW is still fun, sort of, but I do miss the huge brawls we had way back when WvW first started, even if they were a crazyfest of ability lag and culling – they sort of worked

I’ll refrain from judging whether they’ll ever fix these issues, because hey, there’s always the future. I doubt I’ll be playing much WvW anymore in its current state, but there’s always other stuff to do so it all works out

I enjoy a sylvari necromancer in WvW for pulling things to me and then entangling them and then necro’ing them to bits I also enjoy running into zergs, doing some stuff, then running away with the vast amounts of hp necros have.. although admittedly it’s usually mostly pointless

Necros aren’t super high DPS, although all the marks at once are pretty good, and dagger can be fun, although you’re a clothy so you can’t take a huge amount of damage, and necros don’t have anything that increases dodge amounts or evasion in general. Necros can however go into shade mode for another hp pool, and plague mode gives a good amount of bonus toughness, although it shares your general hp pool and you can’t really do much in plague mode. It can be good for escaping, though.

The most useful things unique to the necro are the lich form (tons of DPS, also makes you a huge target), shade form (good AOE damage, good single target DPS initially), marks (good for taking out stealthers and fearing people off of siege and cliffs/walls), spectral grasp (pull people off cliffs and walls), and plague form (good all-around skill, doesn’t make you a huge target like the lich, can aoe cripple/blind people).

Necros lack the versatility of the elementalist and can’t match the DPS of the warrior or the healing of the guardian. However, I find mine fun and play it in WvW every week or so.

You can try a condition build if you want. Plague is vicious and epidemic can be fun. I find that conditions are only sort of useful in wvw since people like to heal them off rather quickly, and there’s the condition cap..

If you do level a necro, don’t bother with minions in WvW, although they are quite good in non-dungeon PvE.

Overall I’d say play the necro for a bit, try it in WvW at low level and see if you like it at all, if it just doesn’t click with you on any level, try something else.

Dagger + focus + pull utility + entanglement = good fun when you want to break it out in WvW. But yeah casters in WvW generally want to stay ranged cuz of the endless zerging. Still, try it, and if you find it fun, enjoy

I believe all these broken events and quests are happening because they haven’t rebooted the servers in a while. Once they do that, they will all work again. True, it is technically a bug, but at least it will ‘fix itself’ sometime soon.

As far as when they will reboot the servers, I don’t know.

I will say that I am greatly enjoying WvWvW in general.. I haven’t seen any hacks, personally. But these giant Storm Mist battles just become frustrating.. hopefully this is just some simple bug somewhere.

Right now, big battles in WvWvW are simply broken, because if a zerg rushes you, they are invisible for long enough to kill you. If you’re lucky you can see where the projectiles are coming from and maybe TAB select one of them.

Until this is fixed, WvWvW is largely a waste of time, unless you focus only on small keep battles where you somehow know not many people will appear.

You can’t really say your game has true WvWvW with such a giant flaw as this.

What about checking your hard drive for errors? Run chkdsk /r on your game drive. You might have to reboot for it to run.

I think your best technique would be to start a ticket with Guild Wars 2 support. They will ask for whatever logs and information they need to fully diagnose the problem. It does sound like some sort of unfortunate issue with GW2 and some unique element of your system.. you’re one of the first I’ve read that has this issue.

I forgot about the power supply. Yes, you’ll want to upgrade that PSU as well. Certain sellers may be willing to put in a new one themselves before shipping.

You’ll want at least a 550 watt power supply for one modern GPU.

If you buy a power supply yourself, you’d need to replace the current one. If you’ve never done it before, it’s easy enough and basically impossible to plug something in wrong nowadays (if you do it just won’t boot, but won’t fry anything), and there are many tutorials nowadays. You’d have the original PSU still, so you could ebay it, or..?

Any of the video cards I listed would play the game well. The later series (7 for AMD, 6 for Nvidia) would also future-proof you a bit. As far as manufacturers, eVGA is a good one. I’ve also had good success with Gigabyte and Sapphire for AMD.

You may want to look into building a system yourself. It’s pretty easy and there are many tutorials, and you would save some money. It would definitely take more time overall, though.

The shared graphics on the Core i7 would probably be better than your current GPU, but regardless, no, it’s not very fast.

I recommend either one of AMD or Nvidia’s latest generation, either the AMD 7-series (7870, 7850) or the Nvidia GTX 6/higher 5-series.

In general, similarly priced AMD and Nvidia cards perform similarly. If you’d rather spend a bit less on the GPU, get an AMD 6870 or one of the cheaper Nvidia 5-series cards.

AMD cards tend to need less power but they don’t support PhysX like Nvidia. Some games run faster on AMD and some on Nvidia, but they’re usually pretty close. Some number-crunching apps like SETI@home etc run better on one than the other. Overall though cards from either company are basically the same.

That processor won’t work with your motherboard.

CPU-Z reports you have a Socket 775, so any new CPU you get that you want to use on that motherboard will also need to be Socket 775. Also, you’ll want to check with your motherboard manufacturer to ensure that it does support whatever new CPU you might buy.

Socket 775 has been superseded by a few other sockets since then, so you may not be able to get anything hugely faster for that socket, so you’d need to upgrade your motherboard, and maybe other components. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend, really.

Another thing – you currently have an Intel processor, and the FX is an AMD processor, and those aren’t ever compatible either.

I get the same issue. I am running a Xonar DX sound card with all the extra sound processing features disabled.

It only happens in WvW, and it only seems to happen when there are many sounds playing at once (a keep assault, etc). Occasionally, I can also hear ‘glitches’ before this happens, also when there are many sounds at once.
