If a melee necromancer isn’t really about life stealing, how do they work? Do they have other ways of mitigating damage? Is it closer to an unholy DK (still using WoW terminology) where you apply curses and have your minions deal damage while swinging away?
How are melee necromancers? I’m coming from playing WoW, and I found I liked the death knight class a lot because it was a melee class, but instead of being a traditional tank, it relied on life stealing to stay alive. Are melee necromancers like that or would I be better off just playing a guardian if being ranged doesn’t interest me all that much?
I know it’s not a bad thing that there are a lot of them, but doesn’t that mean it’s harder to find groups and guilds that want a guardian if there are so many of them or does composition diversity not matter so much in this game?
Guardians and warriors do look interesting, but I’ve heard there are a lot of them, so that’s why I figured I’d check if there were other options.
How are mesmers at melee? I made one, but they start out with a ranged weapon, so I wasn’t sure how it panned out when switching over to melee.
I’m new to guild wars (just picked GW2 up on a sale recently), but I’ve played WoW for a few years before, so I’m not new to MMOs. Anyway, I’ve found that I tend to like melee classes/professions, but I also like to be able to press a lot of buttons. I enjoyed playing a DK and a warrior in WoW because tanking in either offered a good amount of that. I also liked the DK because it mixed in magic. Are guardian/warrior/thief my only options if I want to just go melee mostly, or can some of the other professions mix some in as well?
Also, I don’t know how much I’ll get into PvP just yet, so I don’t really care about that much as of right now.
