Best MMO game ever

scratches head. I guess I’m confused by the purpose of this post. It’s like the owner wanted to just say it was the best game ever (for him that is). He didn’t really state why or ask for comments or other thoughts. Almost seems like he posted it and didn’t expect or want comments or opinions of others, which is a purpose of a forum after all. Great, you like the game…end of post. Next time send an email to Anet or buy gems to show support, seems useless to me as a forum post (unless you wanted a discussion on the merits and non merits of the game, which imo doesnt seem like what you wanted). Almost seems kind of trollish to put this on a forum then state how you don’t understand how people can be negative or critical about the game, it is a forum after all.

Oh well, for sake of a conversation on a forum, I actually liked the game because I thought it was easy to jump into. However, recently much like many others I have become bored. To me, I find the game has a depth problem, what gives gw2 it’s good points (easy to jump into combat, not as grindy as other games to become effective in end content (all you need is exotic gear which is cheap)) is also kind of its downfall. Without set classes with the holy trinity, the game becomes just kind of a mindless zerg (world boss train, eotm, wvw, zerker gear dungeon runs (I mean why even have other armour choices if this is like the choice of most dungeon groups) is kind of proof of the mindless zerginess the game has devolved into. Yah it’s still fun and somewhat addicting and very easy to jump into, but at the end with no real strategy or skills for these bosses winning a fight seems, hmm, less than exhilarating. To me this is the core problem with gw2, how to add more content that involves more strategy than just a big zergfest that is still very easy to jump into. A few good examples of this, the marionette, teq, triple wurm. The marionette was probably the funnest event in the game for me. I kinda wished Anet took the development team for the marionette and put then on more projects (because to me, that event illustrates perfectly what Anet needs: good level of difficulty (it’s still possible to lose), still easy to jump into (no need for the trinity). Teq was kind of like this, but even now that has kind of turned into a guaranteed win.

Finally, as far as new content. Sure Anet has added content, but it’s still been the same cookie cutter no real strategy just hack n slash for RNG rewards. I mean, how many ppl still go to dry top? Other than to grind. Seems dry top is mostly a dead map, unless there are new players there or you enter the lfg for a tier 4 to grind events.

So, do I like the game though I am critical of it? Sure. In fact that’s what kind of keeps me in gw2 , is the hope that they will add more in depth content to make it feel like how it felt when I first started playing. Also, I love the community and the graphics of the game. I got bored with gw2 at one point and tried going back to LOTRO, but the graphics just seemed gimmicky after playing
Gw2 and I couldn’t stand it.

I think there is also a point to add that RNG rewards or rewards to grind to, do keep people in the game, even if they don’t like the game or could have fun doing something else. This is kind of the addictiveness of mmos and other stuff in general (always obtaining that next cool thing, no real end to the game, the I got to have that (as stupid as the item is) mentality, and if I quit now all that time I invested was a waste) Do people playing slot machines have fun playing them? Sure some do, but look at those addicted and it’s just mindless attempt to catch a reward always seemingly in reach but not.

Gwynefyrdd, the Halloween miniature

It’s kind of odd, but I think this stupid mini is the last straw with this game for me. With the stupid RNG, rewards have turned into nothing but a type of gambling. One person 45k bags, another 400 for the reward. This just continues to highlight everything dumb about the reward system, I mean precursors based on RNG is stupid imo. What’s the use of playing end content if rewards are tied to RNG. I mean you could have started in beta and some kid who started yesterday gets a precursor. Cool rewards should be tied to further difficulty in the game which doesn’t exist (mostly Zerg fest hack and slash).

So why does Anet do it, cash/greed. I swear they do this crap on purpose because it rolls in more dough for them. Filling their coffers as they turn the next generation into a bunch of gambling addicts. The game imo has turned into nothing more than a zynga game with good graphics. FarmVille with swords. And instead of watering crops I’m doing stupid achieves so I could someday possibly get a radiant piece (not based on any game difficulty mind you, but on the grind of doing stupid collections, killing monsters, and logging in and doing dailies (oh wait, they capped that, best find the grind for AP elsewhere…oh yay collectibles based on RNG…awesome).

Anyway, I’m done with this game. So why rant? Maybe Anet will read this and fix some of this RNG crap. Oh well. I loved the community of gamers, just wish Anet did more than their profit mindedness.

Took a stupid dog mini to open my eyes to this crap, lol.

Mega Boss Spawn times

I noticed this as well. I think instead of PST they mean PDT, which is 1 hour ahead. Teq spawned at 9:00 PDT not 9:00 PST. So, I think best to follow the UTC.

Yup, seems to be piles of radiant dust instead of luminous, now that is.

Hmm, well, never mind. After playing around with the recipe in the forge it seems to be working now, though I swear it wasn’t. Maybe the order in which you add the ingrediants matters, or maybe an Anet employee saw this post and fixed it, lol, anyway.

Some guy was having issues promoting scraps today in the forge. Saying it wouldn’t work. So, as a test, I bought some scraps and tried it out as well. Well, it didn’t work. Seems to be an issue where it won’t let you use the dust as the 4th ingrediant.

Any ideas why this is? They (Anet) just decide to do away with it in the last few updates?

Thanks!!

Specific recipe:

250 Cotton Scraps, Philosopher Stones (more than enough), 1 Linen Scrap, and 5 Luminous dust (although the dust would not highlight after I added the others).

Unable to rally when nothing is attacking you

Umm, something on a different note that I find annoying. When you are being attacked underwater and you get downed – you then swim to the top to get air. Well, if you are near the shoreline, why the eff can’t you just get out of the water? I feel like a fish flopping around and have died on my low level toons sometimes, lol.

Gem Store Armour Skins like Achievement skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hi,

I’m sure this has been suggested multiple times, but it would be nice if when you bought gem store armor skins that they would go in the box like the achievement skins. So you can then reuse them among your other toons and not mess around with transmutation stones.

I’m sure anet may feel that they make more money this way, thus, spending gems on transmutation stones. But I mean, if you spend 800 gems on some nice skins, why not make them more open for use.

Honestly if they did this (make the armor like the achievement armor and available all the time) they could double the price of the armor and I would probably buy it then, just so I don’t have to mess with transmutation stones and such.

Just a suggestion.

The Ancient Crusaders are recruiting on TC. We are a small group of mostly casual players (play only every so often as time allows). We keep +10% mf up constantly and do dungeon runs frequently on weekends (if you are a speed runner and just care about loot, this guild is not for you).

Our main goal is having fun (not effectiveness, though fun and effectiveness is nice), so if you don’t have zerkers and even want to find a group that doesn’t care that you use an odd build. Feel free to send me an in game mail or ask for an invite.

Engineer Off Hand Pistol Skill Suggestion

I couldn’t find if this was suggested or not. However, I thought the addition of this would be neat. I would like to suggest that the engineer weapon off hand pistol skill of Glue Shot – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glue_Shot be igniteable.

Thus for a off hand pistol engineer, you could fire the glue shot, lead enemies in, then light the glue on fire with the off hand pistol skill blowtorch.

Would be kinda neat, I think.
