Dear ArenaNet,
Let me start by saying I truly love the game – I played GW1 and have been waiting for this game for years.
I have been a very frequent player in WvW and I really love that aspect of the game. But lately I have started to feel what the reason to keep playing anymore is. I have talked with a lot of other players and we had a hard time to come up with good reasons to keep up, beside the love for the great fights we encounter now and then. But the negative side of the equation is much bigger at the moment and that’s why I decided to write this, in the hope someone at ArenaNet would read this and actually act on our concerns. I know I’m not alone with these feelings.
A few of my biggest concerns are (there are more than these)
- In the servers own spawn point you can put up siege. This means people can just stand up there and be immune to damage, and you can’t really destroy the siege. This in short means that Woodhaven (or whatever it’s called in the other borderlands) are taken out of the game as a strategic tower to take over to put pressure on garrison. As it’s nearly impossible to take over and impossible to keep.
- Zoom hack. Basically you use the zoom hack, put up an arrow cart outside a keep, zoom out and then you can hit things inside. Things you normally wouldn’t be able to hit without cheating. And therefore defensive siege is kind of useless.
- There are other hacks being used as far as I have heard of.
What I would like to know is what ArenaNet does to stop this kind of abuse. It’s killing the fun of playing and I know from a lot of other players that if something doesn’t happen soon they are seriously thinking about stopping playing the game.
It’s really easy to spot when the hacks are being used, so if ArenaNet just would appoint a few employees to take a break from their work a few hours and jump from server to server and borderland to borderland, they will for sure see it with their own eyes.
We try and report players every time we see someone cheating, but it’s impossible to see who puts up siege in spawn point.
I could also have mentioned the culling, but the hacking is for my part an even bigger issue.
And yeah I could mention which servers I have seen using the hacks, but that wouldn’t give any positive response to the problem as a whole. And I can’t say with 100% certainty that nobody at my own server isn’t misusing the hacks also, so no point in pointing fingers at certain servers.
All I can hope for is that someone at ArenaNet would read this (and post an answer), and most important act on this!!
And lastly a shout out to all the servers is to stop using these hacks, freeze out the players that use them. It must feel really “nice” to win a fight by cheating.
