What is up with the contested waypoints in Straits of Devestation? When I was leveling my Ranger pretty much all waypoints was contested when I was doing the personal story in that zone. This was 6-8 weeks ago.
Now I’m in the same situation with my Thief, doing the personal story in Straits and also trying to get map completion – and again, most waypoints are contested. As I’m writing this Sentry, Glorious Victory, Xenarious, Waywarde, Conquest Marina, Lone Post, Broken Spit, Royal Forum and Thunderhead waypoints are all contested and have been for days!
Checking some of the GW2 forums this has been going on for months. I don’t know if this qualify as a bug or not but it can hardly be working as intended.
A quick search shows several topics on the same subject.
I have the same issue and this has been bugged for a long time. The problem is that when the game was launched there was no PvP-icon (in the top right row on the screen) so you had to go through the Hero-pane to travel to the mist. They removed that, added the PvP-icon, but never changed the achievement, so the game still wants you to go to the mist via your Hero-pane before you are rewarded with that achievement.
This has been bugging me for a long time, achievement-hunter that I am, but I understand they have more important things to work on.

daphoenix, what is your take on Earthen Blast, 15 point in Earth?
This is the build I just started testing in WvW:

dang it now youve gone and blown up my spot… metrica province reactor is my go to place and word about it is starting to get out thanks to “helpfull” posts like this thread…
How will more people in the same zone hinder you from getting your dailys done? This isn’t like many other MMO’s where other players tend to interfear with your objectives, tagging quest mobs etc.
I for one welcome other players and I prefer to help people rather then keep the good stuff for myself.
Wayfarerer hills is better for all of them.
Plus you have the Maw going every 20 for a chance at loot
I haven’t been in Wayfarer for a while. But is there a places there where you can resurrect 10 NPCs within 2 minutes and at the same spot get your Daily Variety Kills done, and also maybe get a veteran and event or two done? Plus, as far as I know, there are no crafting tables in Wayfarers.
My point with Metrica is that you can do all the dailys in one zone (besides the Laurel one) and do it fast.
And who sticks around to do the Frozen Maw for loot? For the event, karma and XP? Sure. But loot?

If you just want to log on and do your dailys as fast as possible, Metrica Province is the place to go.
Healer (X / 10 Allies Revived):
The reactor in the top left corner of the map contains a lot of dead NPCs. Closest waypoint is Survivor’s Encampment Waypoint.
Kill Variety (X / 13 Types of Enemies)
The same reactor also contains a lot of different mobs, ripped from their home by the unstable magic of the reactor. If you don’t get to complete the daily variety kills here, you should be well on your way.
Events (X / 5 Events):
Events are pretty much everywhere on the map and fairly easy to find. Just outside the reactor, in the area between the Muridian Waypoint and Arterium Haven Waypoint, there are three events, some of them with veterans.

Veterans (X / 5 Veterans Defeated)
When you do dailys they often involve killing veterans. Sometimes, inside the reactor, events pop up where you have to kill one. Then you get to kill two birds with one stone.
Aquatic Kills (X / 25 Underwater Kills):
There are several places with water in Metrica, most of them contains critters you can one shot. In the water at the Old Golem Factory Waypoint there are a bunch of Salmon and Crabs and easy to kill yellow mobs.
Crafting (X / 10 Items Crafted):
At the Desider Atum Waypoint you have crafting stations where you can complete the daily crafter and also, as we all know by now, get access to the bank if needed.
Daily Kills (X / 50 Kills)
This you obviously don’t need to stay in Metrica to complete but when you have done the events etc you should be more or less done.
Gatherer (X / 20 Gatherings) & Dodger (X / 15 Attacks Dodged):
Like the Daily Kills you don’t need to do those in Metrica, especially if you have a higher level character and like to run Orr for better tier mats. Same with dodger, that you should be able complete while doing the other combat related dailys.
Daily Laurel Vendor (X / 1 Laurel Vendors Visited)
Go visit a Laurel Vendor, there is one in each city. Job done.
Welcome to Metrica Province!
You could argue, and a few people have, that WvW is a better place to go for your dailys and while its a good place to go, this post is about getting them done as fast as possible. Having 10-15 dead NPCs lying there waiting for you to save them, where you in the same area at the same time can get the Daily Variety Kill more or less done and being able to one shot critters under water while not being worried that a zerg of <Insert Server Name Invader/Defender> will steamroll you, is in my opinion faster then doing them in WvW.
Edit: I realise that there will be new dailys soon (today? tomorrow? next patch?) which probably will make this tip obsolete. But there it was, taking up valuable room in my brain, so I thought I’d throw it out there. And as far as I know, the old dailys will not be removed, only new ones added.

The updates are in the launcher.
In order to view the update in the launcher you need to long in first which you cant if the servers are down. But in this case that doesn’t matter since there is no information in the launcher about the recent server downtime.
Here is a friendly suggestion: Give information about crucial events (like the recent server downtime) here in the official forum instead of expecting us to turn to Twitter or Facebook for information. I know there is a thread about it, that a player started, but a thread in the News and Announcements makes so much more sense.
I mean, if there is time and manpower to post on Twitter and Facebook I’m sure someone could do it here as well.
Thank you.

I agree with Sleepcome. People complain about anything and everything – and before even thinking. Like my old man used to say, “Think first, speak later.”
How can anyone cry about the 10 daily crafted item when all you have to do is refine any mats? Is that really hard? And it goes hand in hand with the 20 daily gathering. Gather 20 stuff, refine it, get both daily done.
Stop your whining, you are only making fools out of yourself, and follow my old mans advice.
I like the new dailys, even thought I’m not a fan of underwater combat. But I like that its different every day. Keep going Anet, don’t listen to the troll and naysayers.
We tested various professions and combos with not much luck. But when we had a ranger shooting through a fire field we got a confirmed daily combo every time.
What are the best runes for a D/D ele?
I have PTV gear, basically.
I have heard a series of different combos but one D/D ele i talked to said Divinity is the bets but costly.
What are some good rune combos for armor?
If you are using a aura build, which I assume you are, most D/D Eles do so, (including me) you can go with 2 Major Water, 2 Superior Water and 2 Superior Monk, that will give you 40% extra boon duration.
If you like me use autorun a lot you might have noticed the annoying little bug that turns autorun of after you use Ride the Lightning. But if you, just as Ride the Lightning ends, hit one of the strafe keys the autorun resumes itself. Hitting the autorun key again after RtL only turns it of even though your character is standing still, so this “workaround” lets you hit a key once to resume autorun and not twice.
A minor bug but a but annoying, especially if you use autorun a lot.
